The fabrication of near-net-shaped objects of Re123 superconductors by 'infiltration processing' is discussed. Near-net-shape processing involves the infiltration of preshaped porous green bodies of either 211 or yttria phases by liquids containing barium cuprates and copper oxides followed by a controlled peritectic solidification. The process yields poly- and also single-crystalline superconducting objects with a shrinkage of less than half of one percent of the green bodies. The prese.v.tion of the initial structure of the green bodies results in fabrication of Re 123 in a wide.v.riety of dimensions and complex shapes. The demonstrated products include bulk components like cylinders, single domain thick films on a variety of substrates, freestanding fabrics and open porous superconducting foams. This paper presents a comprehensive description of the infiltration processing technique and the resulting microstructures of the superconducting bodies. The advantages of this technique and practical applications of the processed superconducting structures are highlighted.

During the last decade, striking improvements could be achieved for the precise control of deposition processes in optical coating technology. For example, as a consequence of enormous progresses in measure- ment and computer technology, direct optical monitoring in a broad spectral range can be considered as a common tool in many production e.v.ronments nowadays. Besides the development of the corresponding hardware and measurement channels, advanced approaches for the evaluation of the acquired data and new multiple sensor monitoring strategies moved into the focus of modern research on the way towards de- terministic deposition techniques. In this context, also innovative concepts for the simulation of deposition processes to forecast the result for a specified coating design and automatic online correction algorithms gained of importance to reduce the risk of failure in coating production. The present contribution will be dedicated to selected aspects in this field, especially addressing broad band optical monitoring systems. A short review on examples for existing hardware configurations and software tools will be presented illus- trating the advantages of modern process control techniques. Novel approaches based on the modeling of thin film growth are discussed as an additional strategy to improve the predictability of coating processes.

An efficient implementation of the topography adaptive filter based on local frequency estimation is proposed, where chirp z transform is applied to enhance the accuracy of the frequency estimation. As a by product of this adaptive filter, the linear approximated phase model of the interferogram is employed to improve the coherence estimation. The impacts of the adaptive filter on global and local phase unwrapping algorithms are discussed. Finally, aiming at the negative effect that the adaptive filter can bring to local phase unwrapping algorithms, a fusion scheme that takes advantage of least square and several local phase unwrapping algorithms is presented.

Aqueous zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)are deemed as the idea option for large-scale energy storage systems owing to many alluring merits including low manufacture cost,e.v.ronmental friendliness,and high operations ***,to develop high-performance cathode is still significant for practical application of ***,Ba_(0.23)v_(2)O_(5)·1.1H_(2)O(BavO)nanobelts were fabricated as cathode materials of ZIBs by a typical hydrothermal synthesis *** from the increased interlayer distance of 1.31 nm by Ba2+ and H2O pre-intercalated,the obtained BavO nanobelts showed an excellent initial discharge capacity of 378 mAh·g^(-1) at 0.1 A·g^(-1),a great rate performance(e.g.,172 mAh·g^(-1) at 5 A·g^(-1)),and a superior capacity retention(93% after 2000 cycles at 5 A·g^(-1)).

Acrylonitrile-butadiene-Styrene (ABS), with and without calcium carbonate (calcite) particles,was used as the matrix for reinforcement with as-rece.v.d short-glass fibres (were originallytreated by the manufacturer) and sized short-glass fibres with two amino-silane coupling *** calcite particle content is 0, 11.7 and 23.5 vol. pct for the matrices. The glass fiber contentis 0, 10 and 15 vol. pct. The matrix materials and corresponding composites were compoundedusing a twin screw extruder and dumbbell-shaped tensile bars were prepared with an injectionmolding process. The tensile and flexural properties as well as the unnotched and notchedCharpy impact energies of short glass fibre/calcite/ABS composites were studied in this *** effects of fibres, fibre surface treatments and particles on these mechanical properties ofthe composites were discussed in detail. An importarit information was obtained, which is thatthe tensile and flexural strengths of hybrid SGF/calcite/ABS composites are the same as thoseof corresponding fibre composites when the ratio of the interfacial adhesion strength betweenparticles and matrix to that between fibres and matrix is higher than certain value. otherwise theformer are lower than the latter.
