Climate change can aff ect fi sh individuals or schools,and consequently the fi *** future changes of fi sh distribution and abundance helps the scientifi c management of fi *** dynamic bioclimate envelope model(DBEM)was used to identify the“environmental preference profi les”of the studied species based on outputs from three Earth system models(ESMs).Changes in ocean conditions in climate change scenarios could be transformed by the model into those in relative abundance and distribution of ***,the distributional response of 17 demersal fi shes to climate change in the Yellow Sea could be projected from 1970 to *** of latitudinal centroid(LC)and mean temperature of relative abundance(MTRA)were used to represent the results conducted by *** present that 17 demersal fi sh species in the Yellow Sea show a trend of anti-poleward shift under both low-emission scenario(RCP 2.6)and high-emission scenario(RCP 8.5)from 1970 to 2060,with the projected average LC in three ESMs shifting at a rate of-1.17±4.55 and-2.76±3.82 km/decade,respectively,which is contrary to the previous projecting studies of fi shes suggesting that fi shes tend to move toward higher latitudes under increased temperature *** Yellow Sea Cold Water Mass could be the major driver resulting in the shift,which shows a potential signifi cance to fi shery resources management and marine conservation,and provides a new perspective in fi sh migration under climate change.

Karenia is one of the most harmful and representative red tide genus in a temperate zone. Blooms caused by this genus have resulted in massive fish death in the South China Sea and the East China Sea. However, the potential effects of this dinoflagellate on human health through the transfer of toxins via marine food webs, and the mechanisms of toxicity, are still unknown. Therefore, we examined the toxic effects of a strain of K. mikimotoi （isolated from the South China Sea） on the proliferation and morphology of four mammalian cell lines （two normal cell lines and two cancer cell lines）. In addition, we carried out a preliminary investigation on the mechanism of toxicity of the alga. The results show that the polar lipid-soluble component ofK. mikimotoi significantly inhibited proliferation of the four cell lines, and resulted in the ceils becoming spherical, swollen and damaged. The result of Annexin v and PI double-staining confirmed that cell membranes were disrupted. The malonaldehyde （MDA） contents in the medium of the four cell lines treated with the polar-lipid extracts all increased significantly, which indicates that the polar-lipid toxins produced by K. rnikimotoi could adversely affect mammalian cells by inducing lipid peroxidation. We conclude that K. mikimotoi is a potential threat to human health, and the comprehensive effect of this dinoflagellate and its mechanisms should be investigated further.

AIM: To find the CYP1 B1 mutations associated with primary congenital glaucoma(PCG) in Pakistani consanguineous pedigrees. METHODS: After getting informed consent, 11 consanguineous pedigrees belonging to different ethnic groups were enrolled. Detailed medical history was recorded and pedigrees were drawn. The standard ophthalmological examination was done to characterize the phenotype. Genomic DNA was extracted from 10 mL whole blood and coding exons and exon intron boundaries of CYP1 B1 gene were directly sequenced. Bioinformatics tools were used to model the mutant protein and predict the effect of novel variants on protein structure and function. RESULTS: Sequencing analysis revealed 5 different CYP1 B1 variants in 7 families(7/11; 64%), including two novel variants. A common mutation, p.R390 H was found in four families, whereas p.P437 L was found once in a family. Two novel variants, a homozygous non sense variant p.L13* and a compound heterozygous variant, p.P350 T along with p.v364 M were segregating with PCGin two families. All the patients had the variable onset and severity of the disease. The success rate of early clinical interventions was observed dependent on mutation types and position. Two different haplotypes were associated with frequently found mutation, p.R390 H. CONCLUSION: Identification of novel CYP1 B1 variants reassert the genetic heterogeneity of Pakistani PCG patients. The patients with missense mutations show severe phenotypic presentations and poor vision after surgical interventions as compare to patients with null variants. This may help to better understand the role of CYP1 B1 mutations in the development of PCG and its course of pathogenicity.

Binary oxide systems（Cu Cr2O4, Cu Co2O4）, deposited onto cordierite monoliths of honeycomb structure with a second support（finely dispersed Al2O3）, were prepared as filters for catalytic combustion of diesel soot using internal combustion engine’s gas exhausts（O2, NOx, H2 O, CO2） and O3 as oxidizing agents. It is shown that the second support increases soot capacity of aforementioned filters, and causes dispersion of the particles of spinel phases as active components enhancing thereby catalyst activity and selectivity of soot combustion to CO2. Oxidants used can be arranged with reference to decreasing their activity in a following series： O3 NO2〉 H2 O 〉 NO 〉 O2〉 CO2. Ozone proved to be the most efficient oxidizing agent： the diesel soot combustion by O3 occurs intensively（in the presence of copper chromite based catalyst） even at closing to ambient *** obtained give a basis for the conclusion that using a catalytic coating on soot filters in the form of aforementioned binary oxide systems and ozone as the initiator of the oxidation processes is a promising approach in solving the problem of comprehensive purification of automotive exhaust gases at relatively low temperatures, known as the ＂cold start＂ problem.

The present article studies the effect of CeO2 and A1203 on the activity of Pd/Co304/cordierite catalyst in conversion of NO, CO, CnHm. The catalysts were characterized by temperature programmed reduction with hydrogen, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. It is shown that the effect of CeO2 on the properties of Pd/C03 O4/cordierite catalyst depends on preparation method. The catalyst obtained by co-deposition of cerium and cobalt oxides has higher activity in CO oxidation （CO ＋ 02 and CO ＋ NO） and total hexane oxidation （C6H14 ＋ 02）. Such phenomenon is probably caused by more than stoichiometric amount of formed oxygen vacancies, an increase in both mobility of surface oxygen and dispersity of components in the catalytic composition. It is demonstrated that CeO2 addition promotes the SO2 resistance of Pd/C03 O4/cordierite. The second support decreases the activity of Pd/Co3Oa/cordierite catalyst in the reactions of CO and C6H14 with oxygen because of COA1204 formation.

Redox-sensitive elements in sediments, such as manganese （Mn）, vanadium （v）, molybdenum （Mo）, and uranium （U）, are promising indicators of past redox conditions during sedimentation and early diagenesis. However, in the Ontong Java Plateau, west equatorial Pacific, there are sparse datasets of redox-sensitive elements in sediment cores. Here, we present a 250 ka record of redox sensitive elements from a 460 cm gravity core at site WP7 （3~56＇S, 156^.E, water depth 1 800 m）, which was recovered from the southwest Ontong Java Plateau during the 1993 cruise of R/v Science I of the institute of Oceanology, Chinese Academy of Sciences （IOCAS）. Relative to the Post-Archean Australian Shale （PAAS）, authigenic Mn, cobalt （Co）, nickel （Ni）, Mo, v, U, and cadmium （Cd） were found at constantly low levels except when peaks occurred at several depth intervals. Manganese, Co, Ni, and Mo concentrations were elevated at 25-35 cm due to Mn redox cycling. The core was divided into three distinct sections, the top 0-25 cm being oxic, a suboxic section at 25-35 cm and from 35-460 cm which was anoxic. Differential authigenic enrichments of Co, Ni, Mo, v, U, and Cd at the same depth intervals were observed indicating that the enrichments happened during sedimentation or diagenesis and suffered no post settlement redox changes. Therefore, no significant changes in redox conditions during sedimentation must have happened. The water at depth on the Ontong Java Plateau during past 250 ka must have been well oxygenated, possibly resulted from the more or less continuous presence of oxygen-rich deep water like the modem Antarctic Intermediate Water （AAIW） and Antarctic Circumpolar Water （ACW）; while it＇s slightly less oxygenated in glacial intervals, possibly due to ventilation weakening and/or the surface productivity increase.

Genesis of the Huoshenmiao Mo deposit in the Luanchuan ore district, China: Constraints from geochronology, ?uid inclusion, and H-O-Sisotopes

The Huoshenmiao δeposit is Mo skarn δeposit, located in the western part of the Luanchuan ore δ*** process can be δivided into a skarn and a quartz-sulfide episodes with six stages: prograde(I), retrograde(II), quartz-K-feldspar(III), quartz-molybdenite(Iv), quartz-pyrite(v), and quartzcalcite(vI). A combined study of geochronology, fluid inclusion(FI), and stable isotopes was conducted to constrain the mineralization age, source of ore materials, as well as the origin and evolution of the ore-forming fluids. Molybdenite Ree Os δating indicates that the δeposit was formed in the Late Jurassic(~145 Ma). The δ^(34)S values of sulfides range from 3.0‰ to 7.1‰, implying that the ore materials in the δeposit are magmatic in origin. Three types and six subtypes of FIs are δistinguished, namely, aqueous two-phase(W_1-and W_2-type), δaughter mineral-bearing multiphase(S_1-and S_2-type), and CO_2-bearing three-phase(C_1-and C_2-type). In stages I and II, the W_1-type FIs δisplay homogenization temperatures(Th) from 496°C to >600°C, with salinities of 14.9-18.3 wt.% NaCl eqv. The FIs in stages III, Iv and early stage v composed of coeval S-, C-and W-types, respectively homogenize at similar Th, suggesting the occurrence of boiling. The W1-type FIs in late stage v and stage vI, yield Th of 102-406°C and salinities of 0-4.7 wt.% NaCl eqv. The δD_(H_2O)and δ^(18) O(H_2O)values of the ore-forming fluids in quartz-sulfide episode vary from-112‰ to-76‰, and 11.0‰ to 1.0‰, respectively. All these above observations reveal that the early ore-forming fluids are magmatic in origin, and characterized by high temperature and moderate to high salinity, and gradually evolve to low temperature, low salinity meteoric water. The Huoshenmiao Mo δeposit is associated with the magmatism event induced by the protracted subduction of the Izanagi plate beneath the eastern China continent. Planktonic foraminifera as bio-indicators for monitoring the climatic changes that have occurred over the past 2000 years in the southeastern Tyrrhenian Sea

A high-resolution integrated study has been performed in a super-expanded marine record(sedimentation rate spanning from 11 cm/100 years to 20 cm/100 years)from the continental shelf area of the southeastern Tyrrhenian *** foraminiferal distribution illustrates 6 major environmental changes during the past 2000 years:(i)the Roman Period-Dark Age transition(from herbivorous-opportunistic to carnivorous species);(ii)the Dark Age-MCA transition(from carnivorous to herbivorous-opportunistic species);(iii)the Medieval Classic Anomaly-Little Ice Age transition(a further and definitive change from carnivorous to herbivorous-opportunistic species);(iv)the period during the Maunder event between approximately 1720 AD and 1740 AD(turnover from the carnivorous planktonic foraminifer Globigerinodes ruber to the herbivorous-opportunistic planktonic foraminifer Turborotalita quinqueloba);(v)the Industrial Period(dominance of herbivorous-opportunistic planktonic foraminifera);and(vi)the Modern Warm Period at approximately 1940 AD(the last turnover in favor of herbivorous-opportunistic planktonic foraminifers,associated with an increase in benthic foraminifera).Our studies lead us to link this latter feature to an anthropogenic impact associated with the damming of Sele River(Salerno Gulf)at 1934 AD,which induced a change in the sediment input with a strong decrease in coarse-grained fraction and a probable alteration in nutrient ***δ^(18)O_(***) record of the past 2000 years shows the alternation of warm/wet and cold/dry events related to the Roman Period,the Dark Age,the Medieval Classic Anomaly,the Little Ice Age,the Industrial Period and the Modern Warm *** 5 evidentδ^(18)O_(***) oscillations(between approximately 1325 AD and 1940 AD)coincide with the 5 minima in the solar activity record(Wolf,Spörer,Maunder,Dalton and Damon events).

On the Tectonic Problems of the Southern East China Sea and Adjacent Regions:Evidence from Gravity and Magnetic Data

In this paper, two sets of gravity and magnetic data were used to study the tectonics of the southern East China Sea and Ryukyu trench-arc system： one data set was from the ＇Geological-geophysical map series of China Seas and adjacent areas＇ database and the other was newly collected by R/vKexue Ⅲ in 2011. Magnetic and gravity data were reorganized and processed using the software MMDP, MGDP and RGIS. In addition to the description of the anomaly patterns in different areas, deep and shallow structure studies were performed by using several kinds of calculation, including a spectrum analysis, upward-continuation of the Bouguer anomaly and horizontal derivatives of the total-field magnetic anomaly. The depth of the Moho and magnetic basement were calculated. Based on the above work, several controversial tectonic problems were discussed. Compared to the shelf area and Ryukyu Arc, the Okinawa Trough has an obviously thinned crust, with the thinnest area having thickness less than 14km in the southern part. The Taiwan-Sinzi belt, which terminates to the south by the NW-SE trending Miyako fault belt, contains the relic volcanic arc formed by the splitting of the paleo Ryukyu volcanic arc as a result of the opening of the Okinawa Trough. As an important tectonic boundary, the strike-slip type Miyako fault belt extends northwestward into the shelf area and consists of several discontinuous segments. A forearc terrace composed of an exotic terrane collided with the Ryukyu Arc following the subduction of the Philippine Sea Plate. Mesozoic strata of varying thicknesses exist beneath the Cenozoic strata in the shelf basin and significantly influence the magnetic pattern of this area. The gravity and magnetic data support the existence of a Great East China Sea, which suggests that the entire southern East China Sea shelf area was a basin in the Mesozoic without alternatively arranged uplifts and depressions, and might have extended southwestward and connected with the norther
