Taxonomic Composition and Spatial Distribution of Meiofauna Community from a Sandy Intertidal Zone in Sishili Bay, Yellow Sea Coast (Northern China)

The meiofauna composition and trophic groups of the nematode communities have been studied at a sandy intertidal zone in Sishili Bay along the Yantai coast(Yellow Sea,China).Nematoda was dominant among the 11 groups of *** meiofaunal densities were low,ranging between 111±47 and 542±131 ind./10 cm^(2).Results obtained from the correlation analysis made it possible to determine several factors that influence species composition and ***,sediment granulometry significantly affected the *** highest abundance was found in fine-grained sediments(318.77±126 ind./10 cm^(2))com-pared to coarse-grained sediments(175±82 ind./10 cm2).Nematodes were predominant in all studied sites.A total of 70 species be-longing to 52 genera and 18 families were identified in the study *** was a significant difference in nematode abundance(ANOvA,F=2.38,Pvel of species diversity in sediments composed mainly of very-fine sands(>63μm),with dominant species belonging to the genus Bathylaimus,Ptycho-laimellus,Spirinia,and *** trophic groups were dominated by non-selective deposit feeders(40.7%)and epistrate feed-ers(41.29%).In contrast,the species composition in medium grain sands was characterized by a low species diversity index and a high Simpson dominance *** communities showed similar dominant species compositions belonging to a single genus Bathylaimus,Enoplolaimus,and Oncholaimus,and in terms of trophic structure-representatives of deposit feeders(46.15%),preda-tors,and omnivores(64.71%)*** divergence of meiofaunal community structures can be explained by abiotic factors such as sediment grain size,salinity,and organic carbon ***,sediment particle size can explain the diversity of nematodes at the level of in abundance,diversity indices,and trophic *** highest nematode density and diversity coincided with

Merging bound states in the continuum in an open acoustic resonator

Bound states in the continuum （BICs） are perfectly localized resonances despite embedding in the continuum ***,an isolated BIC is very sensitive to the structure ***,we report merging acoustic BICs in a single open resonator,robust against the structure *** find that both symmetry-protected BIC and Friedrich-Wintgen BIC are sustained in a single coupled waveguide-resonator *** varying the height and length of the resonator,these two BICs move toward each other and merge into a single one at a critical *** to an individual BIC,the merged BIC is robust against fabrication error because its Q-factor is proportional to ΔL-4,whereΔL embodies the structure *** essence of this extraordinary phenomenon is perfectly explained by the two-and three-level approximations of the effective nonHermitian ***,we present direct experimental demonstrations of the moving and merging of BICs in a coupled 3D waveguide-resonator,which are evidenced by the vanishing of the linewidth of Fano resonance in the transmission *** results may find exciting applications in designing high-quality acoustic sources,sensors and filters.

GFAP expression in the optic nerve and increased Н2S generation in the integration centers of the rainbow trout（Oncorhynchus mykiss） brain after unilateral eye injury

The Bivalve Mollusc <i>Abra ovata</i>: Role in Succession of Soft Bottom Communities on Newly Flooded Area of the Caspian Sea

The succession of an Abra ovata community that had formed at the flooded area in Sulaksky Bay (the Caspian Sea) since the mid-1980s was investigated. The resident species Abra ovata and Cerastoderma glaucum, the pioneer settlers, were found remaining dominant in the community structure and driving the course of its succession, despite some decrease in settlement density and in the rate of occurrence. It was the tolerance of the Sulaksky pioneer settlers for later colonists (macrophytes, mytilids, crustaceans and other organisms) that determined the development of the first succession stage. The next succession stage in Abra ovata communities of Sulaksky Bay does not quite agree with the pattern typical of solid substrates. On the one hand, the community development supports the tolerance model: the pioneer Abra, in spite of being dominant through all the succession stages, does not oppose the settling of other multiple colonists;on the other hand, it agrees with a facilitation model where the abundance of the original settlers, the grazing species, provokes appearance of sturgeon.

Results of Thirty Years of Research on Corals and Reefs of vietnam

The author traced the history of the thirty years of study of the vietnamese reefs since the second half of the 20th century up to the present time. This paper describes the types of reefs, taxonomic composition and structure of Scleractinian reef ecosystems. It is shown that due to a high level of diverse knowledge revealed, high species richness of coral fauna of vietnam (376 species of 80 genera) is a single point of origin coral fauna Indo-Pacific. Analysis of knowledge of vietnamese corals and reefs revealed the extent of their positive or negative status under anthropogenic influence or under the level of wilderness protection, experiment on artificial cultivation of corals and the re-establishment of a coral community.

The Composition and Structure of Reef Community at Tho Chu Island (South China Sea) after Ketsana Typhoon

Fringing the reefs of the island Tho Chu explored a quarter century later now reexamined in the Gulf of Thailand of the South China Sea. It was found that most of the reefs of the island were lost after the passage of typhoon “Ketsana” accompanied by heavy rains and strong sea waves higher than 2 meters in October 2009. Because of these natural phenomena, physical destruction of much of the coral communities occurred. Removal of terrigenous sediments from the islands in the water has led to increased sedimentation and loss of almost all the scleractinian family Acroporidae, the main building corals on the reefs of the Indo-Pacific. At present, in places where once there was full-reef community succession is restoring the reef due to the survivors of the typhoon colonies of coral genera Pocillopora and Acropora.
