This article describes a new wave propagation model based on Monte-Carlo particle-tracing. This model relies on Monte-Carlo integration and Huygens currents radiating. The particles used to compute the field permit to consider the interferences. This model includes the diffraction of the surface without edge computation. The implementation of this propagation model is based on a image synthesis renderer. The results of this model are studied in far field situation with perfectly conducting shapes, by comparing results with a classical MoM method.

Wet air oxidation （WAO） and catalytic wet air oxidation （CWAO） are efficient processes to degrade organic pollutants in water. In this paper, we especially reviewed the WAO and CWAO processes for phenolic compounds degradation. It provides a comprehensive introduction to the CWAO processes that could be beneficial to the scientists entering this field of research. The influence of different reaction parameters, such as temperature, oxygen pressure, pH, stirring speed are analyzed in detail; Homogenous catalysts and heterogeneous catalysts including carbon materials, transitional metal oxides and noble metals are extensively discussed, among which Cu based catalysts and Ru catalysts were shown to be the most active. Three different kinds of the reactor implemented for the CWAO （autoclave, packed bed and membrane reactors） are illustrated and compared. To enhance the degradation efficiency and reduce the cost of the CWAO process, biological degradation can be combined to develop an integrated technology.

A prototype of cross-membrane signal transduction is that extracellular binding of cell surface receptors to their ligands induces intracellular signalling ***,much less is known about the process in the opposite direction,called inside-out *** studies show that it plays a more important role in regulating the functions of many cell surface receptors than we used to *** particular,in cadherin-mediated cell adhesion,recent experiments indicate that intracellular binding of the scaffold protein p120-catenin(p120ctn)can promote extracellular clustering of cadherin and alter its adhesive *** underlying mechanism,however,is not well *** explore possible mechanisms,we designed a new multiscale simulation *** all-atom molecular dynamics simulations,we found that the conformational dynamics of the cadherin extracellular region can be altered by the intracellular binding of *** intriguingly,by integrating all-atom simulation results into coarse-grained random sampling,we showed that the altered conformational dynamics of cadherin caused by the binding of p120ctn can increase the probability of lateral interactions between cadherins on the cell *** results suggest that p120ctn could allosterically regulate the cis-dimerization of cadherin through two ***,p120ctn controls the extracellular conformational dynamics of ***,p120ctn oligomerization can further promote cadherin ***,our study provides a mechanistic foundation for the inside-out signalling in cadherin-mediated cell adhesion,while the computational framework can be generally applied to other cross-membrane signal transduction systems.

Effect of hydration on the surface basicity and catalytic activity of Mg-rare earth mixed oxides for aldol condensation

Magnesium and rare earth mixed oxides（Mg3 REOx（RE=La, Y. Ce）） were prepared and characterized by Xray diffraction（XRD）, N_2 adsorption-desorption, infrared spectra and microcalorimetry of CO_2. The results reveal that the Mg_3 CeO_x catalyst is present in the form of Mg-Ce-O solid solution,while the Mg3 LaOx and Mg_3 YO_x catalysts are probably rare earth oxides dispersed on MgO surface. As a result, among the calcined Mg_3 REO_x catalysts, the Mg_3 CeO_x catalyst presents the highest rate constant for acetone aldolization, which is well correlated to its more homogeneous distribution of basic sites. In contrary, the Mg_3 YO_x catalyst exhibit the lowest catalytic activity for acetone aldolization. Upon hydration pre-treatment, the basic properties on the surface of the Mg_3 REO_x catalysts were changed markedly. The Mg_3 YO_x catalyst after hydration treatment shows the highest amount of basic sites on catalyst surface, and then exhibits the highest activity among the hydrated Mg_3 REO_x catalysts. These results make it possible to fine-tune basic sites for acetone aldolization.

Fatty liver is present in over ten percentage of the world population and it is a growing public health *** fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is not a single disease,but encompasses a spectrum of diseases of different *** is difficult to find highly specific and sensitive diagnostic biomarkers when a disease is very ***,we should aim to find relevant prognostic markers rather than accurate diagnostic markers which will help to minimize the frequency of liver biopsies to evaluate disease *** are several biomarker panels commercially available,however,there is no clear evidence that more sophisticated panels are better compared to simple criteria such as,presence of diabetes over five years,metabolic syndrome,obesity,obstructive sleep apnea,aspartate transaminase/alanine transaminase(ALT) ratio > 0.8 or ferritin levels > 1.5 times normal in patients with over six month history of raised ALT and/or ultrasonological evidence of fat in the *** the biomarker panels are not a replacement for a liver *** the need and benefit of liver biopsy in NAFLD is questionable because there is no convincing evidence that biopsy and detailed staging of NAFLD improves the management of NAFLD and benefits the *** all there is no evidence based treatment for NAFLD other than management of lifestyle and components of "metabolic syndrome".

We formulate a model describing the dynamics for the spatial propagation of an SIS epidemic within a population,with age structure,living in an environment divided into two *** analysis of the model is *** prove the existence of a unique disease free equilibrium (DFE)and its (local and global)***,we assume that fast infection processes and fast migration processes take place in the above-mentioned model;*** processes last only a few days (less than a week).In opposition to such processes,demographic processes such as birth,death and maturation last quite a lot of *** a gap between the time scales gives rise to a multiple time scales model,in particular a singularly perturbed *** a singular perturbation analysis,based on Tikhonov theorem,we prove that for certain classes of initial conditions the nonlinear perturbed model can be approximated with very good accuracy by lower-dimensional linear models.

Advanced micro/nanofabrication of functional materials and structures with various dimensions represents a key research topic in modem nanoscience and technology and becomes critically important for numerous emerging technologies such as nanoelectronics, nanopho- tonics and micro/nanoelectromechanical systems. This review systematically explores the non-conventional material processing approaches in fabricating nanomaterials and micro/nanostructures of various dimensions which are challenging to be fabricated via conventional approaches. Research efforts are focused on laser-based techniques for the growth and fabrication of one-dimensional （1D）, two-dimensional （2D） and three-dimensional （3D） nanomaterials and micro/nanostructures. The following research topics are covered, including： 1） laser-assisted chemical vapor deposition （CVD） for highly efficient growth and integration of 1D nanomaterial of carbon nanotubes （CNTs）, 2） laser direct writing （LDW） of graphene ribbons under ambient conditions, and 3） LDW of 3D micro/nanostructures via additive and subtractive processes. Comparing with the conventional fabrication methods, the laser-based methods exhibit several unique advantages in the micro/nanofabrication of advanced functional materials and structures. For the 1D CNT growth, the laser-assisted CVD process can realize both rapid material synthesis and tight control of growth location and orientation of CNTs due to the highly intense energy delivery and laser-induced optical near-field effects. For the 2D graphene synthesis and patterning, roomtemperature and open-air fabrication of large-scale graphene patterns on dielectric surface has been successfully realized by a LDW process. For the 3D micro/nanofabrica- tion, the combination of additive two-photon polymeriza- tion （TPP） and subtractive multi-photon ablation （MPA） processes enables the fabrication of arbitrary complex 3D micro/nanostructures which tional fabrication methods are challenging for conven- C
