Hyperparameter optimization of YOLOv8 for smoke and wildfire detection:Implications for agricultural and environmental safety

In this study,we extensively evaluated the viability of the state-of-the-art YOLOv8 architecture for object detec-tion tasks,specifically tailored for smoke and wildfire identification with a focus on agricultural and environmen-tal *** available versions of YOLOv8 were initially fine-tuned on a domain-specific dataset that included a variety of scenarios,crucial for comprehensive agricultural ***‘large’version(YOLOv8l)was se-lected for further hyperparameter tuning based on its performance *** model underwent a detailed hyperparameter optimization using the One Factor At a Time(OFAT)methodology,concentrating on key param-eters such as learning rate,batch size,weight decay,epochs,and *** from the OFAT study were used to define search spaces for a subsequent Random Search(RS).The final model derived from RS demon-strated significant improvements over the initial fine-tuned model,increasing overall precision by 1.39%,recall by 1.48%,F1-score by 1.44%,mAP@0.50 by 0.70%,and mAP@0.50:0.95 by 5.09%.We validated the enhanced model's efficacy on a diverse set of real-world images,reflecting various agricultural settings,to confirm its ro-bustness in detecting smoke and *** results underscore the model's reliability and effectiveness in scenar-ios critical to agricultural safety and environmental *** work,representing a significant advancement in the field of fire and smoke detection through machine learning,lays a strong foundation for fu-ture research and solutions aimed at safeguarding agricultural areas and natural environments.

When designing high-voltage elements,knowing if the corona effect will be present during their life cycle is ***,designers consider several prediction criteria based on physical features related to breakdown discharge principles to predict the corona *** introduced practical set-up consists of a concave cone electrode with a hemispheric tip above a plate to evaluate selected corona prediction *** hemisphere has a fixed diameter of 7 mm,and the electrode separation ranges from 2.5 to 39 *** about the corona mode inception under different voltage sources was extracted using an intensified charge-coupled device camera and a partial discharge *** prediction criteria were connected to a specific corona mode depending on the main discharge structure behind its *** average deviation between these criteria and experimental results was around eight *** assumptions in criteria are also discussed in light of the experimental results.

An analysis of the sectorial structure of energy consumption shows that residential and tertiary sector buildings are the third-highest consumers,responsible for 29.5%of a city’s final energy *** Building Quality Control Laboratory of the Basque Government aims to promote quality,innovation,and sustainability in *** accomplish this goal,it has constructed an experimental facility with different energy generation technologies and a very versatile control system for testing different energy systems and operation *** this study,we tested a facility for supplying domestic hot water and heating for a multi-family house by means of a condensing boiler and an aerothermal heat pump(together with the corresponding control).This installation could reproduce the thermal demands required to be satisfied by the generation equipment through a programmed operation of the installation based on real ***,this installation was analyzed using thermoeconomics(TE)to solve problems unable to be solved using traditional energy analyses based on the First Law of *** problems include:(1)Determining the costs of the products of the installation based on physical criteria,(2)detecting the places where losses actually occur,evaluating their costs,and proposing cost-effective improvements,and(3)diagnosing issues in the *** a result,this paper suggests a solution to the preventive maintenance problems confronting the technical maintenance personnel for thermal installations in buildings by applying TE knowledge and using real data collected from sensors.

Machine Learning Techniques Applied to Electronic Healthcare Records to Predict Cancer Patient Survivability

Breast cancer(BCa)and prostate cancer(PCa)are the two most common types of *** factors play a role in these cancers,and discovering the most important ones might help patients live longer,better *** study aims to determine the variables that most affect patient survivability,and how the use of different machine learning algorithms can assist in such *** AURIA database was used,which contains electronic healthcare records(EHRs)of 20,006 individual patients diagnosed with either breast or prostate cancer in a particular region in *** total,there were 178 features for BCa and 143 for *** feature selection algorithms were used to obtain the 21 most important variables for BCa,and 19 for *** features were then used to predict patient survivability by employing nine different machine learning ***-five percent of the dataset was used to train the models and 25%for ***-validation was carried out using the StratifiedKfold technique to test the effectiveness of the machine learning *** support vector machine classifier yielded the best ROC with an area under the curve(AUC)=0.83,followed by the KNeighborsClassifier with AUC=0.82 for the BCa *** two algorithms that yielded the best results for PCa are the random forest classifier and KNeighborsClassifier,both with AUC=*** study shows that not all variables are decisive when predicting breast or prostate cancer patient *** narrowing down the input variables,healthcare professionals were able to focus on the issues that most impact patients,and hence devise better,more individualized care plans.

The goal of this study is to measure the effectiveness of a career development system implemented at a research and technology organization at satisfying the context requirements of a decree issued by the Basque Country *** in-depth surveying of 80 R&D professionals over the five years,the authors aimed to determine whether a career development system,when it is linked to context requirements and researchers’contributions,could offer researchers feedback about their career aims and increase their job *** the five years of the study,the researchers’capacity to meet career requirements improved by 20%,and job satisfaction,although it declined at first,increased substantially in the last two years,reaching a historic high for the employee satisfaction survey.

Schiff base metal complexes are of great importance in pharmaceutical science owing to their unique chemical properties, which enable them to exhibit diverse biological activities such as anti-bacterial,anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor properties. Furthermore, Schiff base metal complexes can serve as reagents and catalysts in chemical reactions. This review aims to provide an overview of our recently published studies on Cu(Ⅱ) and Pd(Ⅱ) complexes derived from proline Schiff base ligands. We also discuss the potential applications of these metal complexes in the fields of antibacterial and chiral resolution.
