It has been reported that the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway plays a key role in the pathogenesis of ischemic *** a result,the development of drugs targeting the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway has attracted increasing attention from *** article reviews the pathological mechanisms and advancements in research related to the signaling pathways in ischemic stroke,with a focus on the PI3K/AKT signaling *** key findings include the following:(1)The complex pathological mechanisms of ischemic stroke can be categorized into five major types:excitatory amino acid toxicity,Ca^(2+)overload,inflammatory response,oxidative stress,and apoptosis.(2)The PI3K/AKT-mediated signaling pathway is closely associated with the occurrence and progression of ischemic stroke,which primarily involves the NF-κB,NRF2,BCL-2,mTOR,and endothelial NOS signaling pathways.(3)Natural products,including flavonoids,quinones,alkaloids,phenylpropanoids,phenols,terpenoids,and iridoids,show great potential as candidate substances for the development of innovative anti-stroke medications.(4)Recently,novel therapeutic techniques,such as electroacupuncture and mesenchymal stem cell therapy,have demonstrated the potential to improve stroke outcomes by activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway,providing new possibilities for the treatment and rehabilitation of patients with ischemic *** investigations should focus on the direct regulatory mechanisms of drugs targeting the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway and their clinical translation to develop innovative treatment strategies for ischemic stroke.

Assessing inflammation in Chinese subjects with subtypes of heart failure: an observational study of the Chinese pla hospital Heart Failure Registry

Background Inflammation is an important element of the pathophysiological process of heart failure (HF) and is correlated with subtypes of HF. The association between multiple biomarkers of inflammation and HF subtypes in Chinese subjects remains unclear. This study aimed to compare the differences in inflammation biomarkers among Chinese patients with different subtypes of HF who have been identified to date. Methods We included 413 consecutive patients with HF,including 262 with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF),55 with middle-ranged ejection fraction (HFmrEF) and 96 with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). Ten inflammation biomarkers were analyzed and compared according to the HF subtypes. One hundred contemporary non-HF subjects were also recruited as the control group. Moreover,the correlations between the inflammatory biomarkers and left ventricular ejection fraction of the HF subtypes were assessed. Results The mean age of the HF patients was 65.0 ± 12.0 years,65.8% were male. Distinct subtypes of HF demonstrated different inflammation biomarker panels. IL-6,PTX-3,ANGPTL-4 and TNF-α were correlated with HFrEF;IL-1β and PTX-3 were correlated with HFmrEF;and IL-1β and IL-6 were correlated with HFpEF. The multivariable logistic regression showed that IL-1β[relative ratio (RR)= 1.08,95% CI: 1.02–1.15,P = 0.010],IL-6 (RR = 1.03,95% CI: 1.01–1.06,P = 0.016),PTX-3 (RR = 1.31,95% CI: 1.11–1.55,P = 0.001),and ANGPTL-4 (RR = 1.05,95% CI: 1.02–1.07,P < 0.001) were independently associated with HF,while IL-6 (RR = 1.03,95% CI: 1.01–1.04,P = 0.019),PTX-3 (RR = 1.23,95% CI: 1.06–1.43,P = 0.007),and ANGPTL-4 (RR = 1.03,95% CI: 1.01–1.06,P = 0.005) were independently associated with the HF subtype. Conclusions Diverse inflammation biomarkers have multifaceted presentations according to the subtype of HF,which may illustrate the diverse mechanisms of inflammation in Chinese HF patients. Induced neural stem cells regulate microglial activation through Akt-mediated upregulation of CXCR4 and Crry in a mouse model of closed head injury

T2 relaxation time measurements in the brains of scalded rats

This study aimed to evaluate the T2 relaxation time of the brain in severely scalded rats using a magnetic resonance （MR） T2 mapping sequence, and to investigate the correlation between T2 relaxation time and plasma glucose level. Twenty-eight Wistar rats were randomly divided into the scalded group （n = 21）and control group （n = 7）. Magnetic resonance scans were performed with T1WI, T2WI, and T2-mapping sequences in the scalded group; the scans were performed 1 day prior to scalding and 1, 3, 5, and 7 days post-scalding; in addition, identical MR scans were performed in the control group at the same time points. T2-maps were generated and T2 relaxation times were acquired from the following brain regions： the hippocampus, thalamus, caudate-putamen, and cerebrum. Pathological changes of the hippocampus were observed. The plasma glucose level of each rat was measured before each MR scan, and a correlation analysis was performed between T2 relaxation time and plasma glucose level. We found that conventional T 1WI and T2WI did not reveal any abnormal signals or morphological changes in the hippocampus, thalamus, caudate-putamen,： or cerebrum post-scalding. Both the T2 relaxation times of the selected brain regions and plasma glucose levels increased 1, 3, and 5 days post-scalding, and returned to normal levels 7 days post-scalding. The most marked increase of T2 relaxation time was found in the hippocampus; similar changes were also revealed in the thalamus, caudate-putamen, and cerebrum. No correlation was found between T2 relaxation time and plasma glucose level in scalded rats. Pathological observation of the hippocampus showed edema 1, 3, and 5 days post-scalding, with recovery to normal findings at 7 days post-scalding. Thus, we concluded that T2 mapping is a sensitive method for detecting and monitoring scald injury in the rat brain. Bibliometric profile of neurogenic bladder in the literature:a 20-year bibliometric analysis

Neurogenic bladder is a dysfunction of the lower urinary tract caused by nervous system disor- der. We investigated the trends in publication of articles under the topic ＂neurogenic bladder＂ using bibliometric analysis. Articles on neurogenic bladder, published between 1995 and 2014, were retrieved from the ISI Web of Science citation database. We analyzed the search results for authors, countries, institutions, journals, and top-cited papers. A total of 1,904 articles were re- trieved. There was a small increase in the number of articles on neurogenic bladder from 1995 （n = 43） to 2014 （n = 117）. The USA was the leading country in the total number of articles （n = 598）. However, the number of publications from China has rapidly increased, and China was ranked second in 2014. Emmanuel Chartier-Kastler （n = 65） was the most productive author, and University of Paris VI （Paris 6）（n = 61） was the most productive institution. The Journal of Urology published the greatest number of artides on this topic （n = 285）. Articles on neurogenic bladder were often published in a professional journal under the category Urology ＆ Nephrology, Neurosciences ＆ Neurology, or Rehabilitation. Visualization analysis based on co-citation networks was conducted using CiteSpace III. Visualization analysis revealed that the hot spots in neurogenic bladder were botulinum toxin-A, prazosin, bethanechol, and afferent pathways. These findings provide new insight into the publication trends and hot spots in neurogenic bladder.

Association of fluid-attenuated inversion recovery vascular hyperintensity with ischaemic events in internal carotid artery or middle cerebral artery occlusion
