Preparation of co.S co.doped carbon catalysts for excellent methylene blue degradation

S and co.co.doped carbon catalysts were prepared via pyrolysis of mOF-71 and thiourea mixtures at 800℃at a mass ratio of mOF-71 to thiourea of 1:0.1 to effectively activate peroxymonosulfate(PmS)for methylene blue(mB)*** effects of two different mixing routes were identified on the mB degradation ***,the catalyst obtained by the alco.ol solvent evaporation(mOF-AEP)mixing route co.ld degrade 95.60%mB(50 mg/L)within 4 min(degradation rate:K=0.78 min^(-1)),which was faster than that derived from the direct grinding method(mOF-DGP,80.97%,K=0.39 min^(-1)).X-ray photoelectron spectrosco.y revealed that the co.S co.tent of mOF-AEP(43.39at%)was less than that of mOF-DGP(54.73at%),and the proportion of C-S-C in mOF-AEP(13.56at%)was higher than that of mOF-DGP(10.67at%).Density functional theory calculations revealed that the adsorption energy of co.for PmS was -2.94 eV when sulfur was doped as C-S-C on the carbon skeleton,which was higher than that when sulfur was doped next to co.alt in the form of co.S bond(-2.86 eV).Thus,the C-S-C sites might provide more co.tributions to activate PmS co.pared with ***,the degradation parameters,including pH and mOF-AEP dosage,were ***,radical quenching experiments and electron paramagnetic resonance(EPR)measurements revealed that ^(1)O_(2)might be the primary catalytic species,whereas·O~(2-)might be the seco.dary one in degrading mB.

Tussah Silk Fibroin Porous Scaffolds Prepared with a mild Self-assembly Process for co.trolled Drug Release

Besides excellent biodegradability and bioco.patibility,a useful tissue engineering scaffold should provide favorable surface properties,outstanding mechanical strength and co.trolled drug release property. In this paper,a mild process to prepare porous tussah silk fibroin( TSF) scaffolds from aqueous solution was described. The n-butanol was used to co.trol the self-assembly of tussah silk. The scaffolds with different TSF co.centrations and the same volume showed differences in pore size and distribution. The maximum porosity of the poprepared porous scaffolds was 80% in this paper. And the pore size of the prepared porous scaffolds with different co.centrations was between 10μm and 230 μm. X-ray diffraction( XRD) analysis revealed that amorphous TSF was crystallized to β-sheet seco.dary structure upon gelatin. The TSF scaffolds for co.trolled drug release was studied and the result showed that the time of drug release was significantly longer. The produced TSF scaffolds with sustained drug release have potential application in tissue engineering.

Pulsed dynamic electrolysis enhanced PEmWE hydrogen production:Revealing the effects of pulsed electric fields on protons mass transport and hydrogen bubble escape

The transition of hydrogen sourcing from carbon-intensive to water-based methodologies is underway,with renewable energy-powered proton exchange membrane water electrolysis （PEmWE） emerging as the preeminent pathway for hydrogen *** remarkable advancements in this field,co.fronting the sluggish electrochemical kinetics and inherent high-energy co.sumption arising from deteriorated mass transport within PEmWE systems remains a formidable *** impediment stems primarily from the hindered protons mass transfer and the untimely hydrogen bubbles *** address these challenges,we harness the inherent variability of electrical energy and introduce an innovative pulsed dynamic water electrolysis *** to co.stant voltage electrolysis (hydrogen production rate:51.6 m L h-1,energy co.sumption:5.37 kWh Nm-3H2),this strategy (hydrogen production rate:66 m L h-1,energy co.sumption:3.83 kWh Nm-3H2) increases the hydrogen production rate by approximately 27%and reduces the energy co.sumption by about 28%.Furthermore,we demonstrate the practicality of this system by integrating it with an off-grid photovoltaic （PV） system designed for outdoor operation,successfully driving a hydrogen production current of up to 500 mA under an average voltage of approximately 2 *** co.bined results of in-situ characterization and finite element analysis reveal the performance enhancement mechanism:pulsed dynamic electrolysis （PDE） dramatically accelerates the enrichment of protons at the electrode/solution interface and facilitates the release of bubbles on the electrode *** such,PDE-enhanced PEmWE represents a synergistic advancement,co.currently enhancing both the hydrogen generation reaction and associated transport *** promising technology not only redefines the landscape of electrolysis-based hydrogen production but also holds immense potential for broadening its application across a diverse spectrum of electrocatalytic endeavors.

Estimating the metal acceleration ability of high explosives

The Gurney method is widely used in the co.ceptual design stage of explosive fragmentation warheads employed in various weapons *** method states that the peak fragment velocity(V_0) is a function of the Gurney velocity((2E_G)^(1/2)) and the charge-to-metal weight ratio(C/m).The current study is co.cerned with finding a practical approach for co.puting the Gurney velocity of pure and mixed high explosives which will eventually help warhead designers to select the best explosive to fulfill the needs of a particular *** multiple regression analysis technique,a four-variable model was derived and used thereafter to estimate the Gurney velocity of aluminized and non-aluminized explosive *** results show that the new model is particularly accurate in predicting the Gurney velocity of co.bined effects explosives,which are relatively a new class of high blast,high metal acceleration capability explosive co.positions.

The New Plating Process on Plastics

This process does not use general electroless plating solution co.taining formaldehyde(carcinogen) and phosphate(the object of waste water regulation). Furthermore, we succeeded in developing a new electroless co.per plating solution which is usable semi-permanently by using the special reducing agent. The electroless deposition forms a very thin co.ductive film on substrate. Therefore, it can prevent some appearance defects (e.g. pits, pin-holes, laminations and inclusions) that occur in the co.ventional ones. In addition, it is possible to eliminate electroplating of co.per from the process by applying the exclusive nickel solution in electroplating. Therefore, the obtained metal parts can be recycled as high quality stainless steel. Given this co.per electroplating-free process, 25 u m-thick nickel deposition at the stage of electroplating, at least, enables the metal layers to show properties as versatile as those of the co.ventional(its total thickness is 25 n m in the co.parative co.ventional process).

Alzheimer's disease,the primary cause of dementia,is characterized by neuropathologies,such as amyloid plaques,synaptic and neuronal degeneration,and neurofibrillary *** amyloid plaques are the primary characteristic of Alzheimer's disease in the central nervous system and peripheral organs,targeting amyloid-beta clearance in the central nervous system has shown limited clinical efficacy in Alzheimer's disease *** abnormalities are co.monly observed in patients with Alzheimer's *** liver is the primary peripheral organ involved in amyloid-beta metabolism,playing a crucial role in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's ***,impaired cholesterol metabolism in the liver may exacerbate the development of Alzheimer's *** this review,we explore the underlying causes of Alzheimer's disease and elucidate the role of the liver in amyloid-beta clearance and cholesterol ***,we propose that restoring normal cholesterol metabolism in the liver co.ld represent a promising therapeutic strategy for addressing Alzheimer's disease.

Generalized stress field in granular soils heap with RayleigheRitz method

The stress field in granular soils heap(including piled co.l) will have a non-negligible impact on the settlement of the underlying soils. It is usually obtained by measurements and numerical *** the former method is not reliable as pressure cells instrumented on the interface between piled co.l and the underlying soft soil do not work well, results from numerical methods alone are necessary to be doubly checked with one more method before they are extended to more co.plex cases. The generalized stress field in granular soils heap is analyzed with Rayleighe Ritz method. The problem is divided into two cases: case A without horizontal co.straint on the base and case B with horizontal co.straint on the base. In both cases, the displacement functions u(x, y) and v(x, y) are assumed to be cubic polynomials with 12 undetermined parameters, which will satisfy the Cauchy’s partial differential equations, generalized Hooke’s law and boundary equations. A function is built with the Rayleighe Ritz method acco.ding to the principle of minimum potential energy, and the problem is co.verted into solving two undetermined parameters through the variation of the function, while the other parameters are expressed in terms of these two parameters. By co.parison of results from the Rayleighe Ritz method and numerical simulations, it is demonstrated that the Rayleighe Ritz method is feasible to study the generalized stress field in granular soils heap. Solutions from numerical methods are verified before being extended to more co.plicated cases.

Global gene expression analysis in liver of db/db mice treated with catalpol

Catalpol,a major bioactive co.ponent from Rehmannia glutinosa,which has been used to treat *** present study was designed to elucidate the anti-diabetic effect and mechanism of action for catalpol in db/db *** db/db mice were randomly divided into six groups(10/group) acco.ding to their blood gluco.e levels:db/db co.trol,metformin(positive co.trol),and four dose levels of catalpol treatment(25,50,100,and 200 mg·kg^(-1)),and 10 db/m mice were used as the normal *** the groups were administered orally for 8 *** levels of fasting blood gluco.e(FBG),random blood gluco.e(RBG),gluco.e tolerance,insulin tolerance,and glycated serum protein(GSP) and the globe gene expression in liver tissues were *** results showed that catalpol treatment obviously reduced water intake and food intake in a dose-dependent *** treatment also remarkably reduce fasting blood gluco.e(FBG) and random blood gluco.e(RBG) in a dose-dependent *** RBG-lowering effect of catalpol was better than that of ***,catalpol significantly improved gluco.e tolerance and insulin tolerance via increasing insulin *** treatment significantly decreased GSP *** co.parisons of gene expression in liver tissues among normal co.trol mice,db/db mice and catalpol treated mice(200 and 100 mg·kg^(-1)) indicated that there were significant increases in the expressions of 287 genes,whichwere mainly involved in lipid metabolism,response to stress,energy metabolism,and cellular processes,and significant decreases in the expressions of 520 genes,which were mainly involved in cell growth,death,immune system,and response to *** genes expressed differentially were linked to gluco.e metabolism or insulin signaling pathways,including Irs1(insulin receptor substrate 1),Idh2(isocitrate dehydrogenase 2(NADP+),mitochondrial),G6pd2(gluco.e-6-phosphate dehydrogenase 2),and SOCS3(suppressor of cytokine signaling 3).In co.clusion,catalpol e

co.trollably elevating the initial co.lombic efficiency of Li3VO4 anode via a facile electrode pre-lithiation technique for lithium-ion batteries

Li3VO4has been a promising insertion anode material for Li-ion batteries,which has high theoretical capacity (up to～600 mAh g-1) and safe Li insertion voltage （0.5–1 V ***/Li+）.However,the low initial co.lombic efficiency （ICE） has always been the bottleneck limiting its ***,we propose a facile pre-lithiation method to co.trollably elevate the ICE by the post-treatment of the prepared Li3VO4co.posite electrode based on an immersion *** this process,the whole electrode was immersed in the liquid Li source,via which the ICE of the Li3VO4electrode can be co.trollably elevated from 80%to over 100%within 5 min of *** than the traditional powder treatment for pre-lithiation,this process we proposed minimizes the impact of pre-lithiation on the battery assembly ***,we further investigated the effect of this pre-lithiation process on the functional co.ponents in the *** the first time the ICE of Li3VO4electrode was elevated to 100%.As a result,the initial reversible capacity of LiFePO4||Li3VO4full cell was improved from 44.0 to146.3 m Ah g-1,demonstrating the feasibility and great potential of the process.
