Dendrobium plants are used commonly as tonic herbs and health food in many Asian countries, especially in China. Here we report the genetic map construction of two Dendrobium species with a double pseudo-testcross strategy using random amplified polymorphic DNA （RAPD） and sequence-related amplified polymorphism （SRAP） markers. A F1 mapping population of 90 individuals was developed from a cross between D. officinale and D. hercoglossum. A total of 307 markers, including 209 RAPD and 98 SRAP, were identified and used for genetic linkage group （LG） analysis. The D. officinale linkage map consisted of 11 major linkage groups and 3 doublets, which covered 629.4 cM by a total of 62 markers with an average locus distance of 11.2 cM between two adjacent markers. The D. hercoglos- sum linkage map contained 112 markers mapped on 15 major and 4 minor linkage groups, spanning a total length of 1,304.6 cM with an average distance of I 1.6 cM between two adjacent markers. The maps constructed in this study covered 92.7% and 82.7% of the D. hercoglossum and D. officinale genomes respectively, providing an important basis for the mapping of horticultural and medicinal traits and for the application of marker-assisted selection in Dendrobium breeding program.

汉代丧葬建筑中地下墓室的中室或前室具有祠堂性质,它和地上祠堂同为亡灵接受亲人祭享的场所,为开放或半开放空间,汉代画像石刻丰富的图像和文字大都出于此。两个祠“堂”画像之间,无论题材内容还是配置规律,都有着更多的一致性。同样,相关石刻题记文本在叙述主体、叙述目的、文体功能方面也具有相类似的特征,即常以建造者口吻叙述祠主亡殁前后情形以及建造祠堂的缘由、始末,借此表达哀思,展示孝亲伦理,诫告参观者爱护祠堂,遂成为一种独立的丧葬文体形式。祠堂题记与其他丧葬文体以及丧葬仪式、建筑、随葬器物等,共同构成中国丧葬文化传统中独特的“死亡叙述”。确立祠堂题记文体的基本功能和文体要素,可解决相关石刻文本文体归属混乱的状况,亦可由此“倒推”出众多“孤石”题刻的文体属性、所属建筑构件,同时也有助于提高相关残缺文本释读的准确性。

Generalization of predator recognition:Velvet geckos display anti-predator behaviours in response to chemicals from non-dangerous elapid snakes

Many prey species detect chemical cues from predators and modify their behaviours in ways that reduce their risk ofpredation. Theory predicts that prey should modify their anti-predator responses according to the degree of threat posed by thepredator. That is, prey should show the strongest responses to chemicals of highly dangerous prey, but should ignore or respondweakly to chemicals from non-dangerous predators. However, if anti-predator behaviours are not costly, and predators are rarelyencountered, prey may exhibit generalised antipredator behaviours to dangerous and non-dangerous predators. In Australia, mostelapid snakes eat lizards, and are therefore potentially dangerous to lizard prey. Recently, we found that the nocturnal velvetgecko Oedura lesueurii responds to chemicals from dangerous and non-dangerous elapid snakes, suggesting that it displays generalisedanti-predator behaviours to chemicals from elapid snakes. To explore the generality of this result, we videotaped the behaviourof velvet geckos in the presence of chemical cues from two small elapid snakes that rarely consume geckos: the nocturnalgolden-crowned snake Cacophis squamulosus and the diurnal marsh snake Hemiaspis signata. We also videotaped geckos in trialsinvolving unscented cards (controls) and cologne-scented cards (pungency controls). In trials involving Cacophis and Hemiaspischemicals, 50% and 63% of geckos spent long time periods (> 3 min) freezing whilst pressed flat against the substrate, respectively.Over half the geckos tested exhibited anti-predator behaviours (tail waving, tail vibration, running) in response to Cacophis(67%) or Hemiaspis (63%) chemicals. These behaviours were not observed in control or pungency control trials. Our resultssupport the idea that the velvet gecko displays generalised anti-predator responses to chemical cues from elapid snakes.Generalised responses to predator chemicals may be common in prey species that co-occur with multiple, ecologically similar,dangerous predators [Current Zoology 56 (3): 337

A new kind of low-cost syntactic adsorbent from bamboo charcoal and chitosan was developed for the removal of microcystin-LR from drinking water. Removal effciency was higher for the syntactic adsorbent when the amount of bamboo charcoal was increased. The optimum dose ratio of bamboo charcoal to chitosan was 6：4, and the optimum amount was 15 mg/L; equilibrium time was 6 hr. The adsorption isotherm was non-linear and could be simulated by the Freundlich model （R2 = 0.9337）. Adsorption efficiency was strongly afflected by pH and natural organic matter （NOM）. Removal efficiency was 16% higher at pH 3 than at pH 9. Efficiency rate was reduced by 15% with 25 mg/L NOM （UV254 = 0.089 cm-1） in drinking water. This study demonstrated that the bamboo charcoal modified with chitosan can effectively remove microcystin-LR from drinking water.

In 2005, Bao, et al. [Appl. Math. and Comput., vol.169, No.2, 2005] showed that Tzeng, et al.’s nonrepudiable threshold multi-proxy multi-signature scheme with shared verification was insecure, and proposed an improved scheme with no Share Distribution Center (SDC). This paper shows that Bao, et al.’s scheme suffers from the proxy relationship inversion attack and forgery attack, and pro- poses an improvement of Bao, et al.’s scheme.
