Using single cell channel model, the transmission features of CA3-DG network in the hippocampus are investigated. The influence of the stimulation on discharge pattern of pyramidal neurons is analyzed, which shows that it starts with period spiking discharges, followed by period-doubling bifurcation to chaos, and period 3 discharge evolving into chaos, and ultimately a period of bursting discharges. By the synaptic model, the CA3-DG network model is constructed, which analyzes the summation of postsynaptic currents in the network, the influence of postsynaptic current on discharge rhythm as well as the mechanism of bursting discharges. The strong capacity of spatiotemporal encoding in the network indicates the features of CA3 network during the information transmission process in the hippocampus. The modeling result with time delay of the synaptic transmission is in accordance with the experimental phenomena of action potential in the hippocampus.

Copper nanowires(Cu NWs)are considered an excellent alternative to indium tin oxide(ITO)in flexible transparency electrodes(FTEs).However,the mixed particles and surface oxidation of Cu NWs degrade the transmittance and conductivity of the electrodes.Therefore,highly purified Cu NWs without oxidation are vital for high-performance FTEs.Herein,a facile and effective purification process is introduced to purify Cu NWs in a water and n-hexane system,which takes advantage of the differences in hydrophilicity between Cu NWs and Cu NPs caused by their different adsorption affinities to octadecylamine(ODA).At the same sheet resistance,the transmittance of the purified Cu NW-based FTEs improved approximately 2%compared to that of non-purified Cu NW-based FTEs.Immersion of the electrode in glacial acetic acid removed the surface organics and oxides.After only 40 s of treatment,the sheet resistance dramatically decreased from 10^5 Ohm/sq to 31 Ohm/sq with a transmittance of 85%.In addition,the Cu NW-based FTE conductors showed excellent flexibility(remaining stable after 1000 bending cycles).The Cu NW-based FTEs were further applied to fabricate a flexible transparent heater.At a voltage of 10 V,the temperature of the heater reached 73℃,demonstrating the potential applications of this material in various fields.

Rice endosperm plays a very important role in seedling germination and determines the qualities of rice grain. Although studies on specific gene categories in endosperm have been carried out, global view of gene expression at a transcription level In rice endosperm Is still limited. To gain a better understanding of the global and tissue-specific gene expression profiles In rice endosperm, a cDNA library from rice endosperm of immature seeds was sequenced. A cDNA array was constructed based on the tentative unique transcripts derived from expression sequence tag （EST） assembling results and then hybridized with cDNAs from five different tissues or organs including endosperm, embryo, leaf, stem and root of rice. Significant redundancy was found for genes encoding prolamin, glutelin, allergen, and starch synthesis proteins, accounting for ~34% of the total ESTs obtained. The cDNA array revealed 87 significantly expressed genes In endosperm compared with the other four organs or tissues. These genes included 13 prolamin family proteins, 17 glutelin family proteins, 12 binding proteins, nine catalytic proteins and four ribosomal proteins, indicating a complicated biological processing in rice endosperm. In addition, Northern verification of 1,4-alpha-glucan branching enzyme detected two isoforms in rice endosperm, the larger one of which only existed in endosperm.

Multi-sensor image registration has been widely used in remote sensing and medical image field, but registration performance is degenerated when heterogeneous images are involved. An image registration method based on multi-resolution shape analysis is proposed in this paper, to deal with the problem that the shape of similar objects is always invariant. The contours of shapes are first detected as visual features using an extended contour search algorithm in order to reduce effects of noise, and the multi-resolution shape descriptor is constructed through Fourier curvature representation of the contour’s chain code. Then a minimum distance function is used to judge the similarity between two contours. To avoid the effect of different resolution and intensity distribution, suitable resolution of each image is selected by maximizing the consistency of its pyramid shapes. Finally, the transformation parameters are estimated based on the matched control-point pairs which are the centers of gravity of the closed contours. Multi-sensor Landsat TM imagery and infrared imagery have been used as experimental data for comparison with the classical contour-based registration. Our results have been shown to be superior to the classical ones.

Three tetraurea-appended porphyrin derivatives were synthesized and applied as anion receptors to complex with various anions, including F^-, Cl^-, Br^-, I^-, NO3^-, HSO4^-, and AcO^-. The binding stoichiometries were all measured to be 1：1 and high binding abilities of these receptors toward the anions were demonstrated with the association constants of up to 1.1 × 10^8 L/mol.
