The bidirectional association between type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and periodontitis is now well established,resulting in periodontal disease being considered as the 6th major complication of diabetes mellitus(DM)after cardiovascular disease,eye disease,neuropathy,nephropathy,and peripheral vascular *** can worsen the virulence and invasiveness of pathogenic oral microbial flora aggravating the local inflammation and infection in those with periodontal *** the other hand,the chemical and immunological mediators released into the circulation as part of periodontal inflammation worsen the systemic insulin resistance with worsening of *** if undiagnosed or left untreated can also result in eventual tooth loss.A study by Xu et al in the World Journal of Diabetes examined the predictive factors associated with periodontitis in Chinese patients with *** prevalence of periodontitis was found to be 75.7%in this *** on logistic regression analysis,the predictive factors for higher risk were low tooth brushing frequency[odds ratio(OR)=4.3],high triglycerides(TG;OR=3.31),high total cholesterol(TC;OR=2.87),higher glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c;OR=2.55),and higher age(OR=1.05)while higher education level was protective(OR=0.53).However,the most influential variables were HbA1c followed by age,TC,TG,low education level,brushing frequency,and sex on the random forest model(this model showed higher sensitivity for predicting the risk).A good understanding of the predictors for periodontitis in T2DM patients is important in prevention,early detection of susceptible patients,and intervention to improve periodontal health and enable long-term glycaemic control as observed by Xu et al.

Engineered cardiac constructs(ECC)aid in the progression of regenerative medicine,disease modeling and targeted drug delivery to adjust and aim the release of remedial combination as well as decrease the side effects of *** this research,polycaprolactone/gold nanoparticles(PCL/GNPs)three-dimensional(3D)composite scaffolds were manufactured by 3D printing using the fused deposition modeling(FDM)method and then coated with gelatin/spironolactone(GEL/SPL).Scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy(FTIR–ATR)were applied to characterize the ***,drug release,biodegradation,behavior of the myoblasts(H9C2)cell line,and cytotoxicity of the 3D scaffolds were *** microstructural observation of the scaffolds reported interconnected pores with 150–300µm in *** 3D scaffolds were degraded significantly after 28 days of immersion in stimulated body fluid(SBF),with the maximum rate of GEL-coated 3D *** release from cross-linked GEL coating demonstrated the excess of drug release over time,and according to the control release systems,the drug delivery systems(DDS)went into balance after the 14th *** addition,cell culture study showed that with the addition of GNPs,the proliferation of(H9C2)was enhanced,and with GEL/SPL coating the cell attachment and viability were improved *** findings suggested that PCL/GNPs 3D scaffolds coated with GEL/SPL can be an appropriate choice for myocardial tissue engineering.

Previous air pollution control strategies didn’t pay enough attention to regional collaboration and the spatial response sensitivities,resulting in limited control effects in *** study proposed an effective PM_(2.5)and O_(3) control strategy scheme with the integration of Self-Organizing Map(SOM),Genetic Algorithm(GA)and WRF-CAMx,emphasizing regional collaborative control and the strengthening of control in sensitive *** scheme embodies the idea of hierarchical management and spatial-temporally differentiated management,with SOM identifying the collaborative subregions,GA providing the optimized subregion-level priority of precursor emission reductions,and WRF-CAMx providing response sensitivities for grid-level priority of precursor emission *** Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and the surrounding area(BTHSA,“2+26”cities)as the case study area,the optimized strategy required that regions along Taihang Mountains strengthen the emission reductions of all precursors in PM_(2.5)-dominant seasons,and strengthen VOCs reductions but moderate NOx reductions in O_(3)-dominant *** spatiotemporally differentiated control strategy,without additional emission reduction burdens than the 14th Five-Year Plan proposed,reduced the average annual PM_(2.5)and MDA8 O_(3) concentrations in 28 cities by 3.2%-8.2% and 3.9%-9.7% respectively in comparison with non-differential control strategies,with the most prominent optimization effects occurring in the heavily polluted seasons(6.9%-18.0%for PM_(2.5)and 3.3%-14.2% for MDA8 O_(3),respectively).This study proposed an effective scheme for the collaborative control of PM_(2.5)and O_(3) in BTHSA,and shows important methodological implications for other regions suffering from similar air quality problems.

Developing highly active oxygen evolution reaction（OER） electrocatalysts with robust durability is essential in producing high-purity hydrogen through water electrolysis. Layered double hydroxide（LDH） based catalysts have demonstrated efficient catalytic performance toward the relatively sluggish OER. By considering the promotion effect of phosphate（Pi） on proton transfer, herein, a facile phosphate acid（PA）surface-neutralization strategy is developed to in-situ construct NiCo-LDH/NiCoPi hetero-sheets toward OER catalysis. OER activity of NiCoLDH is significantly boosted due to the proton promotion effect and the electronic modulation effect of NiCoPi. As a result, the facilely prepared NiCo-LDH/NiCoPi catalyst displays superior OER catalytic activity with a low overpotential of 300 mV to deliver 100 mA cm-2OER and a Tafel slope of 73 mV dec-1. Furthermore, no visible activity decay is detected after a 200-h continuous OER operation. The present work,therefore, provides a promising strategy to exploit robust OER electrocatalysts for commercial water electrolysers.

Cross-lingual image description,the task of generating image captions in a target language from images and descriptions in a source language,is addressed in this study through a novel approach that combines neural network models and semantic matching *** conducted on the Flickr8k and AraImg2k benchmark datasets,featuring images and descriptions in English and Arabic,showcase remarkable performance improvements over state-of-the-art *** model,equipped with the Image&Cross-Language Semantic Matching module and the Target Language Domain Evaluation module,significantly enhances the semantic relevance of generated image *** English-to-Arabic and Arabic-to-English cross-language image descriptions,our approach achieves a CIDEr score for English and Arabic of 87.9%and 81.7%,respectively,emphasizing the substantial contributions of our *** analyses with previous works further affirm the superior performance of our approach,and visual results underscore that our model generates image captions that are both semantically accurate and stylistically consistent with the target *** summary,this study advances the field of cross-lingual image description,offering an effective solution for generating image captions across languages,with the potential to impact multilingual communication and *** research directions include expanding to more languages and incorporating diverse visual and textual data sources.

Preventive Effect of an Extract of Terminalia avicennioides on Acetylcholine-Induced Tracheoconstriction in Wistar Strain Rats

Asthma is one of the most common chronic respiratory pathologies worldwide. The cost of its treatment, particularly for populations in developing countries like Senegal, requires an alternative which consists of developing research into new therapeutic approaches with the use of plants from traditional pharmacopoeia. The objective of this study was to determine whether the hydroalcoholic extract of Terminalia avicennioides leaves has a preventive effect on the constriction of tracheal smooth muscle induced by Acetylcholine in Wistar strain rats. Methods: The species used in our experiments were male Wistar rats aged between 12 and 14 weeks. Rings of rat trachea were suspended in isolated organ chambers connected to tension sensors. Two pharmacological agents were used: acetylcholine, for its constrictor effect and adrenaline, for its dilating effect on the pulmonary trachea. Our plant material consisted of a hydroalcoholic extract of Terminalia avicennioides leaves. The experimental protocol was that of the preventive model which consisted of impregnating these rings with the extract at a defined concentration then testing its contractility in the presence of Acetylcholine which was the contractile agonist used in this study. The preventive effect of the extract was studied with an Acetylcholine contraction range on rings pre-incubated with Terminalia avicennioides extract. Results: The results showed that Acetylcholine contracts the trachea and the increase in its contractility was dependent on the dose of Ach added cumulatively (10−5 to 4 × 10−5 mol/l). The administration of the hydroalcoholic extract of Terminalia avicennioides leaves led to a modification of the contractile response to Acetylcholine. Indeed, this extract induced a significant attenuation of the contractile responses of the treated tracheal rings compared to those untreated. Conclusion: Terminalia avicennioides had a relaxing effect on tracheal smooth muscle and this effect

BACKGROUnd The influence of Helicobacter-pylori(***)infection and the characteristics of gastric cancer(GC)on tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte(TIL)levels has not been extensively *** of infiltrating-immune-cell subtypes as well as survival is necessary to obtain comprehensive *** To determine the rates of deficient mismatch-repair(dMMR),HER2-status and *** infection and their association with TIL levels in *** Samples from 503 resected GC tumors were included and TIL levels were evaluated following the international-TILs-working-group recommendations with assessment of the intratumoral(IT),stromal(ST)and invasive-border(IB)*** density of CD3,CD8 and CD163 immune cells,and dMMR and HER2-status were determined by immunohistochemistry(IHC).*** infection was evaluated by routine histology and quantitative PCR(qPCR)in a subset of *** dMMR was found in 34.4%,HER2+in 5%and ***-positive in 55.7%of *** IT-TIL was associated with grade-3(P=0.038),while ST-TIL with grade-1(Pnd no-recurrence(P=0.003).dMMR was associated with high TIL levels in the ST(P=0.019)and IB(P=0.01)compartments,and STCD3(P=0.049)and ST-CD8(P=0.05)***2-was associated with high IT-CD8(P=0.009).*** was associated with high IT-TIL levels(P=0.009)when assessed by routine-histology,and with high TIL levels in the 3 compartments(P=0.002-0.047)and CD8 density in the IT and ST compartments(P=0.001)when assessed by qPCR.A longer overall survival was associated with low IT-CD163(P=0.003)and CD8/CD3(P=0.001 in IT and P=0.002 in ST)and high IT-CD3(P=0.021),ST-CD3(P=0.003)and CD3/CD163(P=0.002).CONCLUSION TIL levels were related to dMMR and *** CD8/CD3 and high CD163/CD3 were associated with lower recurrence and longer survival.
