Critical Assessment of Slope Stability: A Case Study on the Toffo-Lalo Road Project

This article systematically delves into a comprehensive analysis of the latest and most advanced techniques for the assessment of slope stability. It particularly focuses on strategies aimed at enhancing slope stability in road construction. In addition to this analysis, the article presents an illustrative case study centered on the Toffo-Lalo Road Project. The core objective of this paper is to scrutinize the stability of large embankments in road construction, with a specific emphasis on the development and asphalt overlay of the Toffo-Lalo road. This scrutiny is conducted through the utilization of stability calculation software, GEOSTUDIO2018, specifically its SLOPE/W module. Within this framework, a detailed model of the cutbank located at KP1+750-2+250 was meticulously developed. This model takes into account the physical-mechanical characteristics of the soil at the site, as well as the topographic layout. Its attributes include a cohesion value of 11.3 Kpa, a density of 16.57 KN/m3, and a friction angle of 27˚. The modeling results, employing the Morgenstern-Price method—an approach renowned for its adherence to equilibrium conditions and provision of precise results—conclude that the safety coefficient (Fs = 1.429) prior to any reinforcement signifies a critical state of slope stability. To address this, the article explores the implementation of reinforcement techniques, particularly focusing on rigid inclusions like nailing and piles. The modeling exercises reveal a noteworthy enhancement in the safety coefficient (Fs) post-reinforcement. Furthermore, the article undertakes a parametric study to optimize the reinforcement strategies. This analysis highlights that anchoring at 0˚ downward relative to the horizontal plane and employing a pile angle of 90˚ represent the most favorable approaches. These measures yield safety coefficients of 3.60 and 2.34, respectively, indicating substantially improved slope stability.

Sunlight represents the energy source for photosynthesis and plant growth. When growing in the field, plant photosynthesis has to manage strong fluctuations in light intensities. Regulation based on the thio- redoxin （Trx） system is believed to ensure light-responsive control of photosynthetic reactions in the chlo- roplast. However, direct evidence for a role of this system in regulating dynamic acclimation of photosyn- thesis in fluctuating conditions is largely lacking. In this report we show that the ferredoxin-dependent Trxs ml and m2 as well as the NADPH-dependent NTRC are both indispensable for photosynthetic acclimation in fluctuating light intensities. Arabidopsis mutants with combined deficiency in Trxs ml and m2 show wild- type growth and photosynthesis under constant light condition, while photosynthetic parameters are strongly modified in rapidly alternating high and low light. Two independent trxmlm2 mutants show lower photosynthetic efficiency in high light, but surprisingly significantly higher photosynthetic efficiency in low light. Our data suggest that a main target of Trx ml and m2 is the NADP-malate dehydrogenase involved in export of excess reductive power from the chloroplast. The decreased photosynthetic efficiency in the high-light peaks may thus be explained by a reduced capacity of the trxm lm2 mutants in the rapid light acti-vation of this enzyme. In the ntrc mutant, dynamic responses of non-photochemical quenching of excita- tion energy and plastoquinone reduction state both were strongly attenuated in fluctuating light intensities, leading to a massive decrease in PSII quantum efficiency and a specific decrease in plant growth under these conditions. This is likely due to the decreased ability of the ntrc mutant to control the stromal NADP（H） redox poise. In the late 19th and the early 20th century, with expanding industrialism and urbanisation, the idea of the nation state grew strong in Sweden. In this nationalistic environment, nature and the natural sciences assumed an important unifying role. The search for natural resources and sources of energy inspired political support and research. The exploitation of nature was looked upon as a prerequisite for the modernization of the country, and indeed was to become the basis for Sweden's welfare. It was under these circumstances that, in 1906, the 11th IGC was invited to Stockholm in 1910. A request for a Government grant focused on the international development of science but also stressed the national importance. Sweden had, it was said, its ranking position among nations to defend, to uphold its position among civilized nations, and to maintain its distinguished tradition in the spheres of natural sciences and mining operations. The main topics of the Congress were iron ore resources, post-glacial climate change, glacial erosion, the Cambrian fauna, geology of the Precambrian, and geology of the polar regions. Three exhibitions and 24 excursions were arranged, and 41 guidebooks printed. The number of members present was 625, from 37 countries and six continents. The final cost for arranging the 11th IGC was SEK 125,000 (approximately ∈540,000 today). A novel experience in the tradition of the IGCs was the world-wide inquiries about the resources of iron ore and about climate change. Such thematic, worldwide investigations subsequently came to attract the attention of many IGCs. A proposition to establish a commission for the publication of an international stratigraphic dictionary was approved by the Congress, and a subcommission was set up with commissioners from ten countries, but it was not until 1956 that the first volumes of Lexique Stratigraphique International appeared. 目的建立一种超高效液相色谱-三重四级杆串联质谱法（UPLC-MS/MS）同时测定植物油中维生素E四种异构体（ɑ-生育酚、β-生育酚、γ-生育酚、δ-生育酚）含量的方法。样品经甲醇提取，C18净化后；采用KintexF5色谱柱（2.1*100mm1.7μm）分离，以0.1%甲酸-水溶液和0.1%甲酸-甲醇溶液为流动相梯度洗脱，电喷雾(ESI)正离子模式、多反应监测模式(MRM)下检测，外标法定量。结果 UPLC-MS/MS检测核桃油中维生素E（1～100 ng/mL）线性关系良好，相关系数均在0.995以上，检测限均为6ng/g，定量限均为20 ng/g，加标回收率范围为92.0%～108.0%，RSD为0.7%～7.1%。方法准确、灵敏、重现性好，可应用于实际样品的分析。

Background:Patients with persistent atrial fibrillation(PsAF)have a high risk of recurrence after catheter radiofre-quency ***,no effective prognostic tools have been developed to identify these high-risk patients to *** study sought to develop and validate a simple linear predictive model for predicting postoperative recurrence in patients with ***:From June 2013 to June 2021,patients with PsAF admitted to our hospital were enrolled in this single-center,retrospective,observational *** characteristics substantially associated with recurrence in patients with PsAF were screened through univariate and multivariate logistic regression *** receiver operating charac-teristic curve was used to assess the predictive significance of the nomogram model after nomogram ***,to assess the clinical value of the nomogram,we performed calibration curve and decision curve ***:A total of 209 patients were included in the study,42(20.10%)of whom were monitored up to 1 year for recurrent *** duration of AF episodes,left atrial diameter,BMI,CKMB,and alcohol consumption were found to be independent risk factors(P<0.05)and were integrated into the nomogram model *** area under the curve was 0.895,the sensitivity was 93.3%,and the specificity was 71.4%,thus indicating the model’s excellent predic-tive *** C-index of the predictive nomogram model was *** curve and decision curve analyses further revealed that the model had robust prediction and strong discrimination ***:This simple,practical,and innovative nomogram can help clinicians in evaluation of the risk of PsAF recurrence after catheter ablation,thus facilitating preoperative evaluation,postoperative monitoring and ultimately the construction of more personalized therapeutic protocols.

This paper reports the variation of peripheral T lymphocyte subsets in patients before and after operation under epidural anesthesia using OKT monoclonal antibodies (McAb). The results show that TH and TS after anesthesia and during surgery were lower than before anesthesia and in normal controls (P0.05). Therefore, we consider that the decrease in TH cells was one of the reasons for decrease in patient immune function during anesthesia and surgery. Five to seven days after surgery, patient TH cell levels tended to normalize. This showed that this abnormality was transient and reversible. The results also indicated that emphasising prevention of infection in post-operational case. should be done during the first 5-7 days after surgery.
