Diamine-modified porous indium frameworks with crystalline porous materials(CPM)-5 structure for carbon dioxide fixation under co-catalyst and solvent free conditions

In the presentwork,functional diamine groups into indium frameworks to synthesize cyclic carbonates from CO_(2)and epoxides with efficient catalytic activity in the absence of cocatalyst and solvent are reported for the first time.Crystalline porous materials(CPM)-5 modified with 1,2-phenylene diamine and ethylene diamine(CPM-5-PhDA and CPM-5-EDA),were prepared using a post-synthetic modification(PSM)method.The properties of the modified CPM-5 were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction(PXRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),N2-adsorption,scanning electron microscopy(SEM),CO_(2)adsorption,and temperature programmed desorption TPD methods.The presence of diamine groups as basic sites and indium Lewis acid sites in the framework structure were desirable for high catalytic activity.For a given catalyst weight,CPM-5-PhDA was the best candidate to appear with great catalytic activity and selectivity for the cycloaddition reaction at 100°C and1MPa CO_(2)under co-catalyst and solvent free conditions.CPM-5-PhDA alsowas found to afford large and bulky epoxides.The catalyst can be easily separated and reused five times without any decline in activity.

Reaction of Ba(NO3)2 with Fe(NO3)3·9H2O and H2C2O4·2H2O in aqueous medium readily affords, in high yield, the bimetallic complex polymer of chemical composition {Ba6(H2O)17[Fe(C2O4)3]4}·7H2O (1), consistent with the expected ratio of 3BaII vs. 2FeIII. Compound 1 was fully characterized by elemental and thermal analyses, vibrational FTIR spectroscopy, and by single crystal X-ray structure determination. The bulk structure of 1 is a 3-D metal-organic framework held together by intermetallic linkages across oxalate and aqua oxygen bridgings. Thermal analyses of 1 show significant weight losses corresponding to water molecules (lattice and coordinated), followed by the decomposition of the network.

Chirality has been extensively studied in interdisciplinary fields for almost two centuries since its ubiquity was discovered by Louis Pasteur in 1848, when he successfully separated a pair of enantiomers. Indeed, chirality is present at all levels in nature—in the form of subatomic particles, macromolecules such as proteins and DNA, microscopic living organisms such as helical bacteria and even in the form of macroscopic objects such as sea shells and spiral galaxies.

Metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) constructed from a rich library of organic struts and metal ions/clusters represent promising candidates for a wide range of applications.The unique structure,porous nature,easy tunability and processability of these materials make them an outstanding class of materials for tackling serious global problems relating to energy and environment.Among them,environmental pollution is one aspect that has increased at an alarming rate in the past decade or so.With rapid urbanization and industrialization,toxic environmental pollutants are constantly released and accumulated leading to serious contamination in water bodies and thereby having adverse effects on human health.Recent studies have shown that many toxic pollutants,as listed by the World Health Organization and the US Environmental Protection Agency,can be sele ctively detecte d,captured,sequestered and removed by MOFs from air and aquatic systems.Most of these sensing/capture processes in MOFs are quantifiable and effective for even a trace amount of the targeted chemical species.The functional sites(ligands and metals) play a critical role in such recognition processes and offer an extensive scope of structural tunability for guest(pollutants,toxic entities) recognition.Whereas on the one hand,the underlying mechanisms governing such sensing and capture are important,it is also crucial to identify MOFs that are best suited for commercial applications for the future.In this review article,we provide an overview of the most recent progress in the sensing,capture and removal of various common toxic pollutants,including neutral and ionic,inorganic and organic species,with brief dis cussions on the mechanism and efficacy of selected MOFs.

A gold-catalyzed three-component coupling reaction (A3 reaction) was developed as an efficient approach for the synthesis of challenging 2, 4-disubstituted quinoline derivatives. Compared to previously reported Cu/Au bi-catalyst system, this protocol enables achieving A3 reaction only in the presence of triazole-gold catalyst. Notably, 4-alkyl substituted or 2-alkyl substituted quinoline derivatives were obtained with good yields, which highlighted the unique advantage of this new strategy.

Metal derivative/graphitic carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4))association is found promising in providing sustainable hydrogen production by photocatalytic water splitting process.Number of works reported on the synthesis and application of various metal based g-C_(3)N_(4)composites are increasing day by day.Mechanism of charge separation varies according to the metal candidate that gets couple with g-C_(3)N_(4).The present article thus explores the interesting chemistry behind various metal based heterojunction and demonstrates the charge separation route.A thorough investigation has been done on the current research trend in the area.As many metal free g-C_(3)N_(4)composites are reported nowadays as an alternative to metal derivatives,here compares metallic and metal free derivatives of g-C_(3)N_(4)based on four critical requirements of an industrial catalyst,ie,activity,stability,cost and toxicity.Challenges and future direction in the area are also discussed with significance.The systematic discussion and schematic illustration of charge transfer process in different heterojunctions with reference to the reported systems,given in the article can definitely contribute to the design and development of more efficient g-C_(3)N_(4)based heterojunctions in future for hydrogen production application.

Effect of varying hydrothermal temperature,time,and sludge pH on sludge solubilisation

In recent years,hydrothermal treatment has been considered as among the most promising option for sludge solubilisation and carbon recovery in terms of sludge management.In this study,the effect of different individual hydrothermal operating conditions like temperature(110-250℃),sludge pH(6-13)and reaction time(0.5-3 h)were varied to understand their influence on sludge solubilisation.The most effective hydrothermal conditions(severity factor of 9.7)were found to be at 200℃,sludge pH of 12 and reaction time of 1 h which solubilised about 1743 mg/g and 131 mg/g of COD and carbohydrates respectively into the aqueous phase.Also,gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS)analysis was done that identified the organic compounds in the treated liquid phase to be mainly carboxylic acids,phenols,esters,and their derivatives.Although further studies are required to efficiently separate and recover the different organic compounds present,this work provides more insights for future valorisation of the organic rich hydrothermally treated liquid phase.

Non-invasive control of the drug molecules accessibility is a key issue in improving diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.Some studies have explored the spatiotemporal control by light as a peripheral stimulus.Phototriggered drug delivery systems(PTDDSs) have received interest in the past decade among biological researchers due to their capability the control drug release.To this end,a wide range of phototrigger molecular structures participated in the DDSs to serve additional efficiency and a high-conversion release of active fragments under light irradiation.Up to now,several categories of PTDDSs have been extended to upgrade the performance of controlled delivery of therapeutic agents based on well-known phototrigger molecular structures like o-nitrobenzyl,coumarinyl,anthracenyl,quinolinyl,o-hydroxycinnamate and hydroxyphenacyl,where either of one endows an exclusive feature and distinct mechanistic approach.This review conveys the design,photochemical properties and essential mechanism of the most important phototriggered structures for the release of single and dual(similar or different) active molecules that have the ability to quickly reason of the large variety of dynamic biological phenomena for biomedical applications like photo-regulated drug release,synergistic outcomes,real-time monitoring,and biocompatibility potential.
