Geometric prior guided hybrid deep neural network for facial beauty analysis

Facial beauty analysis is an important topic in human *** may be used as a guidance for face beautification applications such as cosmetic *** neural networks(DNNs)have recently been adopted for facial beauty analysis and have achieved remarkable ***,most existing DNN-based models regard facial beauty analysis as a normal classification *** ignore important prior knowledge in traditional machine learning models which illustrate the significant contribution of the geometric features in facial beauty *** be specific,landmarks of the whole face and facial organs are introduced to extract geometric features to make the *** by this,we introduce a novel dual-branch network for facial beauty analysis:one branch takes the Swin Transformer as the backbone to model the full face and global patterns,and another branch focuses on the masked facial organs with the residual network to model the local patterns of certain facial ***,the designed multi-scale feature fusion module can further facilitate our network to learn complementary semantic information between the two *** model optimisation,we propose a hybrid loss function,where especially geometric regulation is introduced by regressing the facial landmarks and it can force the extracted features to convey facial geometric *** performed on the SCUT-FBP5500 dataset and the SCUT-FBP dataset demonstrate that our model outperforms the state-of-the-art convolutional neural networks models,which proves the effectiveness of the proposed geometric regularisation and dual-branch structure with the hybrid *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first study to introduce a Vision Transformer into the facial beauty analysis task.

Alzheimer's disease(AD)is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by the deposition of amyloid-β(Aβ),neurofibrillary tangles,neuroinflammation,and neurodegeneration in the *** recent years,considering the unsatisfied benefits of pharmacological therapies,non-pharmacological therapy has become a research hotspot for AD ***(THz)waves with a range between microwave and infrared regions in the electromagnetic spectrum and high permeability to a wide range of materials have great potential in the bioengineering ***,its biological impacts on the central nervous system,under either physiological or pathological conditions,are poorly *** this study,we first measured the 0.14 THz waves penetration across the skull of a C57BL/6 mouse and found the percentage of THz penetration to be~70%,guaranteeing that THz waves can reach the relevant brain *** then exposed the APPSWE/PS1DE9 mouse model of AD to repeated low-frequency THz waves on the *** demonstrated that THz waves treatment significantly improved the cognitive impairment and alleviated AD neuropathology including Aβdeposition and tau hyperphosphorylation in the AD ***,THz waves treatment effectively attenuated mitochondrial impairment,neuroinflammation,and neuronal loss in the AD mouse *** findings reveal previously unappreciated beneficial effects of THz waves treatment in AD and suggest that THz waves may have the potential to be used as a novel therapeutic intervention for this devastating disease.

Electrochemical properties of vanadium pentoxide xerogel films

Vanadium pentoxide xerogel（VXG） films were prepared by rapid quenching, then corn type 2.16 size lithium rechargeable batteries were assembled and tested with the VXG film electrodes and lithium anodes. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy（EIS） analysis result reveals the expected response for intercalation, except that there is almost no Warburg （diffusion） component. Analyses results of cyclic voltammetry（CV）, constant discharge （CD） and discharge-charge（DC） indicate that the sample achieves a high initial discharge specific capacity of approximate 400 mA·h/g and a corresponding efficiency of 97 % in the voltage diapason of 1.5 - 4.0 V with a draining current of 60 mA/g. Its preservation ratio of capacity still keeps as high as 85 % even after 100 cycles. The good electrochemical performance indicates that VXG film material is a promising cathode for lithium rechargeable batteries.

Synergistic effects of the entomopathogenic fungus Isaria javanica and low doses of dinotefuran on the efficient control of the rice pest Sogatella furcifera

The rice planthopper,Sogatella furcifera,is a piercing-sucking insect pest of rice,Oryza *** is responsible for significant crop yield losses,and has developed moderate to high resistance to several commonly used chemical *** investigated the effects of the insect fungal pathogen Isaria javanica,alone and in combination with the chemical insecticide dinotefuran,on *** under both laboratory and field *** results show that *** displays high infection efficiency and mortality for different stages of ***,reducing adult survival,female oviposition and ovary *** bioassays showed that the combined use of *** with a low dose(4-16 mg L^(-1))of dinotefuran resulted in higher mortality in *** than the use of *** or dinotefuran *** combined treatment also had more significant effects on several host enzymes,including superoxide dismutase,catalase,peroxidase,and prophenol oxidase *** field trials,*** effectively suppressed populations of rice planthoppers to low levels(2.-64%of the level in untreated plots).Additional field experiments showed synergistic effects,i.e.,enhanced efficiency,for the control of *** populations using the combination of a low dose of ***(1×10^(4) conidia mL^(-1))and a low dose of dinotefuran(~4.8-19.2.of normal field use levels),with control effects of>90%and a population level under 50 insects per 100 hills at 3-14 days *** findings indicate that the entomogenous fungus *** offers an attractive biological control addition as part of the integrated pest management(IPM)practices for the control of rice plant pests.

Experimental Study on Consolidation Properties of Hydrate-Bearing Fine-Grained Sediments Collected from the Shenhu Area of the Northern South China Sea

Mechanical properties of hydrate-bearing fine-grained sediments are crucial to effectively mitigate environmental risks caused by artificial and natural decomposition of natural gas hydrates,and the decomposition can induce laterally confined *** explore the effect of natural gas hydrates on laterally confined compression properties,consolidation tests are conducted on remolded hydrate-free and hydrate-bearing samples by using natural fine-grained sediments collected from the northern South China Sea as the host sediments,and empirical equations are developed based on the analyses of consolidation *** results show that vertical loading induces a reduction in void ratio,and the reduction increases with decreasing hydrate saturation when samples are subjected to the same vertical stress *** compression index of samples is about 0.53 whether there is hydrate or not,but the yield stress of samples increases sharply with increasing hydrate saturation once beyond the critical *** coefficient of volume compression and the coefficient of consolidation of hydrate-bearing samples both increase firstly and then decrease to a relative stable level with increasing vertical stress,and the transition occurs at 2.0 *** average consolidation degree with elapsed time increases rapidly under low vertical stresses,slowly under median vertical stresses,and under high vertical stresses,the consolidation increases a little faster but still slower than those under low vertical stresses.

Transcriptome and metabolome analysis of preharvest internal browning in Nane plum fruit caused by high temperature

The preharvest internal browning of Nane plum fruit,with no visible effects on the appearance of the fruit,has become a serious problem in recent years in its production area in Guangdong Province,*** study investigated the effects of environmental factors,including temperature,on Nane plum internal *** orchards at different elevations with different incidences of internal browning were *** fruits with different internal browning incidence levels,the internal browning mechanism was analyzed with transcriptome and metabolome *** results revealed decreased internal browning at high *** treatment significantly reduced internal browning,whereas bagging and insect-proof net-covering treatments significantly increased internal *** bagging and net coverings increase the local ambient temperature,the findings suggest that high temperature is an important factor influencing the internal browning of Nane *** metabolome experiments showed that with increased internal browning,the levels of phenolic hydroxyls such as catechol increased,with simultaneous increases in hydrogen peroxide content and oxidase *** can be speculated that the oxidation of phenolic hydroxyl substances is the main cause of the preharvest browning of Nane *** analysis revealed the increased expression of calcium signaling-related and downstream effector genes and indicated an important role of calcium in internal browning,possibly due to its increased content in the ***,with increasingly serious internal browning,genes related to photosynthesis were down-regulated,while genes related to senescence were up-regulated,thus suggesting the up-regulation of the process of cell senescence during internal *** conclusion,heat stress should be eliminated to reduce preharvest internal browning in Nane plum.

Numerical Analysis of Perforation during Hydraulic Fracture Initiation Based on Continuous-Discontinuous Element Method

Perforation is a pivotal technique employed to establish main flow channels within the reservoir formation at the outset of hydraulic fracturing *** perforation designs is critical for augmenting the efficacy of hydraulic fracturing and boosting oil or gas *** this study,we employ a hybrid finite-discrete element method,known as the continuous–discontinuous element method(CDEM),to simulate the initiation of post-perforation hydraulic fractures and to derive enhanced design *** model incorporates the four most prevalent perforation geometries,as delineated in an engineering technical ***-world perforations deviate from the ideal cylindrical shape,exhibiting variable cross-sectional profiles that typically manifest as an initial constriction followed by an expansion,a feature consistent across all four perforation *** simulations take into account variations in perforation hole geometries,cross-sectional diameters,and perforation *** findings show that perforations generated by the 39g DP3 HMX perforating bullet yield the lowest breakdown pressure,which inversely correlates with increases in sectional diameter and perforation ***,this study reveals the relationship between breakdown pressure and fracture degree,providing valuable insights for engineers and designers to refine perforation strategies.

Modularized sulfur storage achieved by 100% space utilization host for high performance lithium-sulfur batteries

Popularization of lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs) is still hindered by shuttle effect and volume ***, a new modularized sulfur storage strategy is proposed to solve above problems and accomplished via employing 100% space utilization host material of cobalt loaded carbon nanoparticles derived from ZIF-67. The modular dispersed storage of sulfur not only greatly increases the proportion of active sulfur,but also inhibits the occurrence of volume expansion. Meanwhile, 100% space utilization host material can greatly improve the conductivity of the cathode, provide a larger electrolyte wetting interface and effectively suppress the shuttle effect. Moreover, loaded cobalt particles have high catalytic activity for electrochemical reaction and can effectively improve the redox kinetics. The cell with new cathode host material carbonized at 650 ℃(ZIF-67(650 ℃)) exhibits superior rate performance and can maintain a high specific capacity of 950 m Ah/g after 100 cycles at 0.2.C, showing a good cycle stability.
