Comparative study between three carbonaceous nanoblades and nanodarts for antimicrobial applications

The design of nanostructured materials occupies a privileged position in the development and management of affordable and effective technology in the antibacterial ***,we discuss the antimicrobial properties of three carbonaceous nanoblades and nanodarts materials of graphene oxide(GO),reduced graphene oxide(RGO),and single-wall carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs)that have a mechano-bactericidal effect,and the ability to piercing or slicing bacterial *** demonstrate the significance of size,morphology and composition on the antibacterial activity mechanism,the designed nanomaterials have been *** minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC),standard agar well diffusion,and transmission electron microscopy were utilized to evaluate the antibacterial activity of GO,RGO,and *** on the evidence obtained,the three carbonaceous materials exhibit activity against all microbial strains tested by completely encapsulating bacterial cells and causing morphological disruption by degrading the microbial cell membrane in the order of RGO>GO>*** of the external cell wall structure and outer membrane proteins,the synthesized carbonaceous nanomaterials exhibited higher antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacterial strains than Gram-negative and fungal *** had the lowest MIC values(0.062,0.125,and 0.25 mg/mL against ***,***,and ***,respectively),as well as minimum fungal concentrations(0.5 mg/mL for both *** and ***).At 12 hr,the cell viability values against tested microbial strains were completely *** lysis and death occurred as a result of severe membrane damage caused by microorganisms perched on RGO *** work gives an insight into the design of effective graphene-based antimicrobial materials for water treatment and remediation.

Epidemiology of insertional and midportion Achilles tendinopathy in runners:A prospective cohort study

Purpose:Acute kidney injury(AKI)is one of the most common functional injuries observed in trauma ***,certain trauma medications may exacerbate renal ***,the early detection of trauma-related AKI holds paramount importance in improving trauma ***:Qualified datasets were selected from public databases,and common differentially expressed genes related to trauma-induced AKI and hub genes were identified through enrichment analysis and the establishment of protein-protein interaction(PPI)***,the specificity of these hub genes was investigated using the sepsis dataset and conducted a comprehensive literature review to assess their *** raw data from both datasets were downloaded using R software(version 4.2.1)and processed with the"affy"package19 for correction and ***:Our analysis revealed 585 upregulated and 629 downregulated differentially expressed genes in the AKI dataset,along with 586 upregulated and 948 downregulated differentially expressed genes in the trauma ***,the establishment of the PPI network and subsequent topological analysis highlighted key hub genes,including CD44,CD163,TIMP metallopeptidase inhibitor 1,cytochrome b-245 beta chain,versican,membrane spanning 4-domains A4A,mitogen-activated protein kinase 14,and early growth response ***,their receiver operating characteristic curves displayed areas exceeding 75%,indicating good diagnostic ***,our findings postulated a unique molecular mechanism underlying trauma-related ***:This study presents an alternative strategy for the early diagnosis and treatment of trauma-related AKI,based on the identification of potential biomarkers and therapeutic ***,this study provides theoretical references for elucidating the mechanisms of trauma-related AKI.

Synthesis of hierarchically porous carbon materials by zinc salts-assisted carbonization of biomass and organic solid wastes

Hierarchically porous carbons(HPCs)with multimodal pores have attracted considerable attention due to their unique physical and chemical properties and various application potentials in heterogeneous catalysis,environmental treatment,and energy storage and ***,we report a general and simple zinc salts-assisted method for the synthesis of HPCs with varied porosity and chemical func-tionalities by the direct carbonization of diverse biomass and *** the carbonization,zinc salts are thermally decomposed into nanoparticles that serve as in-situ templates to introduce nanopores in *** prepared HPCs exhibit high specific surface areas(up to 2432 m2 g-1),large pore volumes(up to 4.30 cm^(3)g^(-1)),and broad pore size ***,the zinc salts can be recovered and recycled,supporting the sustainable production of HPCs on large *** prepared HPCs-supported catalysts with atomically dispersed metal sites exhibit promising electrocatalytic performance for the oxygen reduction reaction.

Tidal effects based on a GUP-induced effective metric

In this paper, we study tidal forces in the Schwarzschild black hole, whose metric explicitly includes a generalized uncertainty principle(GUP) effect. We also investigate interesting features of the geodesic equations and tidal effects that are dependent on the GUP parameter αrelated to a minimum length. Then, by solving the geodesic deviation equations explicitly with appropriate boundary conditions, we show that α in the effective metric affects both the radial and angular components of the geodesic equation, particularly near the singularities.

Photothermal ethanol steam reforming(ESR) is currently limited by low intrinsic activity and strong solar energy ***,we synthesized Fe single atoms supported on CeO_(2)(SA Fe-CeO_(2)) to exhibit excellent low-temperature ESR activity with a hydrogen production rate of 512 mmol g^(-1)h^(-1) at 350℃,becuase of the high oxidation state of Fe single atoms to weaken the reaction barrier of ethanol ***,a heterostructure of SA Fe-CeO_(2) and Ti foil could eliminate 66% of infrared radiation via the size effect,thus achieving a 3.5 sun-driven temperature of 347℃.Consequently,the heterostructure of SA Fe-CeO_(2) and Ti foil shows a hydrogen generation rate of 984 mmol g^(-1)h^(-1) of ESR and 11.31% of solar-to-hydrogen energy conversion efficiency,which outperforms other photothermal ethanol-hydrogen production *** study provides a new path for designing active catalytic sites and trapping light energy of photothermal catalysts.

Background and aim:The liver is susceptible to ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI)during hepatic surgery,when the vessels are compressed to control bleeding,or liver transplantation,when there is an obligate period of *** hallmark of IRI comprises mitochondrial dysfunction,which generates reactive oxygen species,and cell death through necrosis or ***(CsA),which is a well-known immunosuppressive agent that inhibits calcineurin,has the additional effect of inhibiting the mito-chondrial permeability transition pore(mPTP),thereby,preventing mitochondrial swelling and ***-811,which is the nonimmunosuppressive analog of CsA,has a similar effect on the *** this study,we tested the effect of both agents on mitigating warm hepatic IRI in a murine *** and methods:Before ischemic insult,the mice were administered with intraperitoneal normal saline(control);CsA at 2.5,10,or 25 mg/kg;or NIM-811 at 10 mg/***,the mice were subjected to partial warm hepatic ischemia by selective pedicle clamping for 60 min,followed by 6 h of recovery after *** alanine transaminase(ALT)was measured,and the liver tissue was examined histologically for the presence of apoptosis and the levels of inflammatory ***:Compared with the control mice,the mice treated with 10 and 25 mg/kg of CsA and NIM-811 had significantly lower ALT levels(P1,0.007,and 0.031,respectively).Moreover,the liver tissue showed reduced histological injury scores after treatment with CsA at 2.5,10,and 25 mg/kg and NIM-811(P=0.041,1,0.003,and 0.043,respectively)and significant decrease in apoptosis after treatment with CsA at all doses(P=0.012,0.007,and1,respectively).Levels of the pro-inflammatory cyto-kines,particularly interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-2,IL-4,IL-10,and keratinocyte chemoattractant/human growth-regulated oncogene significantly decreased in the mice treated with the highest dose of CsA(25 mg/kg)than those in the control ***
