Effect of Sm^+ Rare Earth Ion on the Structural,Thermal,Mechanical and Optical Properties of Potassium Hydrogen Phthalate Single Crystals

Rare earth Sm＋ ion doped potassium hydrogen phthalate （KHP） single crystal was grown by slow evaporation technique. Single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction analyses confirm the crystalline perfection of Sm＋ ion doped KHP crystal. The functional groups of pure and Sm＋ ion doped KHP crystals were identified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） spectral studies. Thermogravimetric and differential thermal analyses were carried out to study the thermal behavior of the grown crystals. UV-Vis studies explored the optical transmittance of the grown crystals in the entire visible region. The mechanical strength and etching studies were performed to assess the perfection of the pure and Sm＋ ion doped KHP crystals. The refractive index and birefringence properties of the grown crystal were analyzed. The second harmonic generation efficiency of Sm＋ ion doped KHP crystals was observed by Kurtz-Perry powder test.

Influence of Shallow and Deep Cryogenic Treatment on Tribological Behavior of En 19 Steel

The influence of cryogenic treatment on the wear resistance of En 19 steel was studied. Furthermore, a comparative analysis on the effect of Deep Cryogenic Treatment （DCT, 196℃× 24 h）, Shallow Cryogenic Treatment （SCT -80℃ × 5 h） and Conventional Heat Treatment （CHT） was done through dry sliding wear testing. The microstructures of CHT, SCT and DCT samples were also examined through scanning electron microscopy. The results indicated that the wear resistance of shallow and deep cryogenically treated samples is higher when compared to that of conventionally treated samples. X-ray diffraction pattern revealed that the transformation of retained austenite into martensite is responsible for the wear resistance improvement.

In this paper Substrate Integrated Waveguide-basedfiltenna operating at Ku band is *** model is designed on a low loss dielectric substrate having a thickness of 0.508 mm and comprises of shorting vias along two edges of the substrate *** realize a bandpassfilter,secondary shorting vias are placed close to primary shorting *** dimension and position of the vias are carefully analyzed for Ku band *** model is fabricated on Roger RT/duroid 5880 and the performance characteristics are *** proposed model achieves significant impedance characteristics with wider bandwidth in the Ku *** model also achieves a maximum gain of 7.46 dBi in the operating band thus making it suitable for Ku-band *** Integrated Waveguide(SIW)Structures possess most of the advantages over conventional radiofrequency waveguides since they have high power management capacity with self-consistent electrical *** most noteworthy advantage of SIW,it can able to integrate all the components on the same substrate,both passive and active components.

Endoscopic transcanal myringoplasty:Is learning curve a myth?

Objective: To investigate the feasibility of transcanal endoscopic myringoplasty in the hand of young beginner surgeons who had just completed the residency ***: In a three year period(August 2012 to August 2015), 44 ears in 42 patients were operated upon by a beginner surgeon through the transcanal endoscopic approach in a subdistrict level hospital located in the north western ranges of the Himalayan ***: Of the 42 patient, 19 were male and 23 female. The mean age was 26.23 years(range: 15 e47 years). In 40 ears, complete perforation closure was achieved at six months(success rate: 90.9%). The mean air conduction PTA preoperatively was 40.84 dB HL and improved to 28.06 dB HL postoperatively(p <.001). The mean AB gap preoperatively was 22.40 dB, which improved to 9.1 dB postoperatively(p <.001).Conclusion: Endoscopic transcanal myringoplasty is safe and reliable even in young beginners' *** can consider endoscopic approach early in their careers without the fear of learning curve. The cost of endoscopic equipment is about one tenth as compared to open approach under a operating microscope, and an added advantage.

Efficient Energy Optimized Faithful Adder with Parallel Carry Generation

Abstract:Approximate computing has received significant attention in the design of portable CMOS hardware for error-tolerant *** work proposes an approximate adder that to optimize area delay and achieve energy efficiency using Parallel Carry(PC)generation ***‘n’bits in input,the proposed algorithm use approximate addition for least n/2 significant bits and exact addition for most n/2 significant bits.A simple OR logic with no carry propagation is used to implement the approximate *** the exact part,addition is performed using 4-bit adder blocks that implement PC at block level to reduce node capacitance in the critical *** reveal that the maximum error of the proposed adder confines not more than 2n/*** an enhancement of the proposed algorithm,we use the Error Recovery(ER)module to reduce the average *** results of Proposed-PC(P-PC)and Proposed-PCER(P-PCER)adders with n-16 in 180nm Application Specific Integrated Circuit(ASIC)PDK technology revealed 44.2%&41.7%PDP reductions and 43.4%&40.7%ADP reductions,respectively compared to the latest best approximate design *** functional and driving effectiveness of proposed adders are examined through digital image processing applications.
