The use of building materials containing naturally occurring radionuclides such as^40K,^238U,^232Th and their progeny, could lead to external exposures to the residents of such buildings. In this paper, a set of models are constructed to calculate the specific effective dose rates（the effective dose rate per Bq/kg of ^40K, the ^238U series,and the ^232Th series） imposed on residents by building materials with the MCNPX code. The effect of chemical composition, position concerned in the room and thickness as well as density of material is analyzed. In order to facilitate more precise assessment of indoor external dose due to gamma-emitting radionuclides in building materials,three regressive expressions are proposed and validated by measured data to calculate specific effective rates for40 K,the238U series and the232 Th series, respectively.

Recently, China’s State Council issued the Continuous Improvement of Air Quality Action Plan (hereafter, the third action plan),which follows the Air Pollution Prevention and control Action Plan(201.–201.)(hereafter, the first action plan) and the Three-Year Action Plan for Winning the Blue Sky Defense Battle (201.–2020)(hereafter the second action plan). The first two action plans yielded nationwide health benefits [1.3], from improving lung function [4] to saving medical expenditures [5]. Based on our previous estimates [6], due to reductions in the fine particulate matter(PM2.5) level, implementation of the first and second action plans was expected to increase life expectancy by 2.1. and 3.68 months,respectively.

Objective Pyroptosis is an inflammatory form of programmed cell death. This phenomenon has been recently reported to play an important role in radiation-induced normal tissue injury. Connexin43(Cx43) is a gap junction protein that regulates cell growth and apoptosis. In this study, we investigated the effect of Cx43 on X-ray-induced pyroptosis in the human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs). Methods HUVECs, Cx43 overexpression, and Cx43 knockdown strains were irradiated with 1. Gy. Proteins were detected using western blot analysis. Cell pyroptosis was evaluated using the fluorescence-labeled inhibitor of caspase assay(FLICA) and propidium iodide staining through flow cytometry and confocal microscopy. Cell morphology and cytotoxicity were detected by scanning electron microscopy and lactate dehydrogenase release assay, respectively. Results Irradiation with 1. Gy X-ray induced pyroptosis in the HUVECs and reduced Cx43 expression. The pyroptosis in the HUVECs was significantly attenuated by overexpression of Cx43 as it decreased the level of active caspase-1. However, interference of Cx43 expression with si RNA significantly promoted pyroptosis by increasing the active caspase-1.level. Pannexin1.Panx1., a gap junction protein regulates pyroptosis, and its cleaved form is used to evaluate channel opening and active state. The level of cleaved Panx1.in the HUVECs and Cx43 knockdown strains increased in the presence of X-ray, but decreased in the Cx43 overexpression strains. Furthermore, interference of Panx1.with si RNA alleviated the upregulation of pyroptosis caused by Cx43 knockdown. Conclusion Results suggest that single high-dose X-ray irradiation induces pyroptosis in the HUVECs. In addition, Cx43 regulates pyroptosis directly by activating caspase-1.or indirectly by cleaving Panx1.

The aim of the present study is to analyze the global research trend of radiation-responsive genes and identify the highly reproducible radiation-responsive genes. Bibliometric methods were applied to analyze the global research trend of radiation-responsive genes. We found 79 publications on radiation-responsive genes from 2000 to 201.. A total of 35 highly reproducible radiation-responsive genes were identified. Most genes are involved in response to DNA damage, cell proliferation, cell cycle regulation, and DNA *** p53 signal pathway was the top enriched pathway. The expression levels of 1. genes in human B lymphoblastoid cell line（AHH-1. cells were significantly up-regulated in a dose-dependent manner at 24 h after exposure to 0-5 Gy ^60 Coγ-ray irradiation. Our results indicate that developing a gene expression panel with the 35 high reproducibility radiation-responsive genes may be necessary for qualitative and quantitative assessment after exposure.

Integrase strand transfer inhibitors(INSTIs)have emerged as the first‐line choice for treating human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection due to their superior efficacy and ***,the impact of INSTIs on the development of neuropsychiatric conditions in people living with HIV(PLWH)is not fully understood due to limited *** this study,we conducted a cross‐sectional examination of PLWH receiving antiretroviral therapy,with a specific focus on HIV‐positive men who have sex with men(MSM)on INSTI‐based regimens(n=61.and efavirenz(EFV)‐based regimens(n=28).Participants underwent comprehensive neuropsychiatric evaluations and multimodal magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)scans,including T1.weighted images and resting‐state functional *** to the EFV group,the INSTI group exhibited primarily reduced gray matter volume(GMV)in the right superior parietal gyrus,higher regional homogeneity(ReHo)in the left postcentral gyrus,lower ReHo in the right orbital part of the inferior frontal gyrus,and increased voxel‐wise functional connectivity for the seed region in the left inferior temporal gyrus with clusters in the right ***,the analysis revealed a main effect of antiretroviral drugs on GMV changes,but no main effect of neuropsychiatric disorders or their *** repeated analysis of participants who did not switch regimens confirmed the GMV changes in the INSTI group,validating the initial *** study demonstrated gray matter atrophy and functional brain changes in PLWH on INSTI‐based regimens compared to those on EFV‐based *** neuroimaging results provide valuable insights into the characteristics of brain network modifications in PLWH receiving INSTI‐based regimens。

Two novel esterase complementary DNAs were identified and cloned from the insecticide-susceptible strain of Tetranychus cinnabarinus （Boisduval）（Acarina： Tetrany- chidae）, which were designated as TCE1.and TCE2, respectively. The cDNA of TCE1.gene contained an open reading frame （ORF） of 1.01.bp encoding 567 amino acids, and a predicted molecular weight of 62.75 kDa, the cDNA of TCE2 contained an ORF of 1.80 bp encoding 560 amino acids, and a predicted molecular weight of 63.1. kDa. TCE1.and TCE2 were submitted to GenBank, accession number EU 1.0461.and EU 1.0462. The well-conserved sequence motif, GXSXG, used as a signature pattern in the esterase fam- ily are present in both TCE1.and TCE2 （GQSAG in TCE1. whereas GESAG in TCE2）, indicating that these two genes are predicted to be esterases. Comparison of the deduced amino acid sequence with the published mite esterase sequence coming from Boophilus microplus showed that TCE1.shares 33.98% identity and TCE2 shares 33.46% identity. TCE1.and TCE2 share 46.4% identity. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction revealed that expression level of the TCE2 gene was relatively higher than that of the TCE1.in all instars examined except the protonymph, and the expression level of these two esterase genes in adults of T. cinnabarinus was significantly higher than that in any other instars, respectively. T. cinnabarinus is an important agricultural mite pest and esterases are important in the metabolisms of insects and mites; the genomic information obtained in this study will contribute to esterase molecular biological study on mite pest species.
