Ru-Ni alloy nanosheets as tandem catalysts for electrochemical reduction of nitrate to ammonia

Developing electrocatalysts that exhibit both high activity and ammonia selectivity for nitrate reduction is a significant and demanding challenge,primarily due to the complex nature of the multiple-electron reduction process *** encouraging approach involves coupling highly active precious metals with transition metals to enhance catalytic performance through ***,we report a ruthenium-nickel alloy catalyst with nanosheets(Ru-Ni NSs)structure that achieves a remarkable ammonia Faradaic efficiency of approximately 95.93%,alongside a yield rate of up to 6.1. g·h^(−1.·cm^(−2).Moreover,the prepared Ru-Ni NSs exhibit exceptional stability during continuous nitrate reduction in a flow reactor for 1.0 h,maintaining a Faradaic efficiency of approximately 90%and an ammonia yield of 37.4 mg·L^(−1.·h^(−1.using 0.05 M nitrate alkaline *** studies reveal that the catalytic process follows a two-step pathway,in which HONO serves as a migration *** presence of a partially oxidized Ru(002)surface enhances the adsorption of nitrate and facilitates the release of the migration intermediate by adjusting the strength of the electrostatic and covalent interactions between the adsorbate and the surface,*** the other hand,the Ni(1.1.surface promotes the utilization of the migration intermediate and requires less energy for NH_(3)*** tandem process contributes to a high catalytic activity of Ru-Ni NSs towards nitrate reduction.

Chemical modifications of proteins induced by ambient ozone(O_(3))and nitrogen oxides(NOx)are of public health concerns due to their potential to trigger respiratory *** laboratory and environmental exposure systems have been widely used to investigate their relevant mechanism in the *** bovine serum albumin(BSA)as a model protein,we evaluated the two systems and aimed to reduce the uncertainties of both the reactants and products in the corresponding kinetic *** the laboratory simulation system,the generated gaseous pollutants showed negligible *** layers of BSA were coated on the flow tube with protein extraction recovery of 87.4%.For environmental exposure experiment,quartz fiber filter was selected as the upper filter with low gaseous O_(3)(8.0%)and NO_(2)(1.7%)losses,and cellulose acetate filter was appropriate for the lower filter with protein extraction efficiency of 95.2%.The protein degradation process was observed without the exposure to atmospheric oxidants and contributed to the loss of protein monomer mass fractions,while environmental factors(e.g.,molecular oxygen and ultraviolet)may cause greater protein monomer *** on the evaluation,the study exemplarily applied the two systems to protein modification and both showed that O_(3) promotes the protein oligomerization and nitration,while increased temperature can accelerate the oligomerization and increased relative humidity can inhibit the nitration in the environmental exposure *** developed laboratory and environmental systems are suitable for studying protein modifications formed under different atmospheric conditions.A combination of the two will further reveal the actual mechanism of protein modifications.

Jiaojiang sag in the East China Sea Basin is at the earlier exploration stage,where characterizing hydrocarbon generation of source rocks is important to understand oil-gas exploration *** geochemical and basin modeling analysis,hydrocarbon generation capacity and process of the Paleocene E_(1.y,E_(1.l and E_(1.m formations were *** show that E_(1.y and E_(1.l mudstones are high-quality source rocks with Type Ⅱ kerogen,which is dominated by both aquatic organisms and {1. higher plants deposited in sub-reduced environment.E_(1.m mudstone interbedded with thin carbonaceous mudstone and coal is poor-quality source rock with Type Ⅲ kerogen,whose organic matter was originated from {1. higher plants under oxidized *** by burial and maturity histories,E_(1.y and E_(1.l source rocks experienced two hydrocarbon generation stages,which took place in the Late Paleocene and in the Middle to Late Eocene,respectively,and had high hydrocarbon generation capacity with cumulative hydrocarbon volume of 363 and 328 mg/g,respectively.E_(1.m source rock only had one hydrocarbon generation process in the Late Eocene,which had low hydrocarbon generation capacity with cumulative hydrocarbon volume of only 24 mg/*** future oil-gas exploration in the Jiaojiang sag should focus on hydrocarbon generation center and select targets in the central uplift formed before the Miocene with high-quality traps.

The Chinese pangolin(Manis pentadactyla,MP)has been extensively exploited and is now on the brink of extinction,but its population structure,evolutionary history,and adaptive potential are ***,we analyzed 94 genomes from three subspecies of the Chinese pangolin and identified three distinct genetic clusters(MPA,MPB,and MPC),with MPB further divided into MPB1.and MPB2 *** divergence of these populations was driven by past climate *** MPB2 and MPC,recent human activities have caused dramatic population decline and small population size as well as increased inbreeding,but not decrease in genomic variation and increase in genetic load probably due to strong gene flow;therefore,it is crucial to strengthen in situ habitat management for these two *** contrast,although human activities have a milder impact on MPA,it is at high risk of extinction due to long-term contraction and isolation,and genetic rescue is urgently ***1.exhibited a relatively healthy population status and can potentially serve as a source ***,our findings provide novel insights into the conservation of the Chinese pangolin and biogeography of the mammals of eastern Asia.

Highly efficient separation of Sc3+ and Y3+ in acid solution by a graphene oxide membrane with interlayer sieving

Sc and Y are key rare earth elements and are widely used in lamp phosphors,lasers and high-performance ***,highly efficient extraction and separation of Sc3+and Y3+is laborious,harmful,slow,and costly,strongly necessitating more efficient extraction and separation ***,we produced hydrated Sc3+-and hydrated Y3+-controlled graphene oxide（GO） membranes and find that both hydrated cations were completely self-rejected by the *** combining this selfrejection effect of the larger hydrated Y3+-controlled GO membrane and the rapid passage of the membrane through the smaller hydrated Sc3+,we proposed a strategy to separate Sc3+and Y3+by using a hydrated Y3+-controlled GO *** experimental results show that the permeation rate of Sc3+exceeds that of Y3+when the separation factor reaches 4.02,which can be attributed to the interlayer sieving effects of the GO *** finding illustrates the use of a forward osmosis {1. with a GO membrane for the efficient separation of Sc3+and Y3+by interlayer sieving,which provides a new effective and eco-friendly method for the separation of rare earth elements.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide(NADH)regeneration is necessary for the sustainable application of enzymatic *** Rh-based complex[Cp^(*)Rh(bpy)(H)]+has been widely used as an important mediator in NADH regeneration systems,but it is limited by complexity and high ***,a Z-scheme was constructed by loading Rh onto carbon nitride nanosheets/carbon nitride quantum dots(CN-CNQD).The resultant catalyst achieved a high yield of NADH in a mediator-free(M-free)system of 0.283 mmol L^(−1. g^(−1. min^(−1.,which is 5.29 times that of pure *** enzyme introduction experiments confirmed that the enzyme active product 1.4-NADH could reach 34.21.selectivity in the M-free *** research revealed that the heterojunction between CNs and CNQDs improved the NADH regeneration activity in the traditional M-involved system,while Rh loading was proved to optimize the yield and selectivity of 1.4-NADH in M-free *** immobilized Rh shows more competitiveness than[Cp^(*)Rh(bpy)(H)]^(+).This study contributes to the construction of an M-free system for further application in greener,lower-cost enzymatic processes.

Experimental study of population density using an optimized random forest model

Random forest model is the mainstream research method used to accurately describe the distribution law and impact mechanism of regional *** took Shijiazhuang as the research area,with comprehensive zoning based on endowments as the modeling unit,conducted stratified sampling on a hectare grid cell,and systematically carried out incremental selection experiments of population density impact factors,optimizing the population density random forest model throughout the process(zonal modeling,stratified sampling,factor selection,weighted output).The results are as follows:(1.Zonal modeling addresses the issue of confusion in population distribution laws caused by a single *** on a grid cell not only ensures the quality of training data by avoiding the modifiable areal unit problem(MAUP)but also attempts to mitigate the adverse effects of the {1. *** sampling ensures the stability of population density label values(target variable)in the training sample.(2)Zonal selection experiments on population density impact factors help identify suitable combinations of factors,leading to a significant improvement in the goodness of fit(R^(2))of the zonal models.(3)Weighted combination output of the population density prediction dataset substantially enhances the model's robustness.(4)The population density dataset exhibits multi-scale superposition *** a large scale,the population density in plains is higher than that in mountainous areas,while on a small scale,urban areas have higher density compared to rural *** optimization scheme for the population density random forest model that we propose offers a unified technical framework for uncovering local population distribution law and the impact mechanisms.

Transition metal sulfides have garnered increasing attention for their role in persulfate activation,a crucial process in environmental ***,the function of metal sulfides without reversible valence changes,such as ZnS,remains largely unexplored in this *** we report ZnS-embedded porous carbon(ZnS-C),synthesized through the pyrolysis of Zn-MOF-74 and dibenzyl ***-C demonstrates remarkable activity in activating peroxydisulfate(PDS)across a wide pH range,enabling the efficient mineralization removal of bisphenol A(BPA).Through electrochemical investigation and theoretical simulations of charge density distributions,we unveil that the electron transfer from BPA to PDS mediated by the ZnS-C catalyst governs the *** study,both in theory and experiment,demonstrates metal sulfide as electron pump that enhances electron transfer efficiency in PDS *** findings redefine the role of metal sulfide catalysts,shedding new light on their potential for regulating reaction pathways in PDS activation processes.
