Detection of Pb in Tieguanyin tea and ash by laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy

In this work, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) was applied for the detection of Pb in Tieguanyin tea and ash. Firstly, the Tieguanyin tea and ash containing Pb were prepared, and the difference of intensities of Pb I spectral lines before and after the ashing treatment was studied. It was found that the intensities of Pb I lines increased by 30 times and the standard deviation of background signal decreased by 41. after the ashing treatment. Therefore, the enrichment of Pb element by ashing treatment was used to detect Pb in tea with high sensitivity. Then, the calibration curve of Pb was established using spectral lines without self-absorption, and the determination coefficient(R^(2)) for the linear fitting of calibration curve was 0.979 9. Finally, it was found that the limit of detection of Pb was 233.8 ppb. Compared with the results of other works which detect Pb directly, the enrichment of Pb by ashing treatment improved the detection sensitivity of Pb by about 200 times. In addition, this method can be applied to the high sensitivity detection of other heavy metals, such as Cr, Cd, Hg, etc in plants, Chinese herbal medicine, flour, rice, coal and other solid materials.

laboratory wastewater has been suggested as an important escape route for microorganisms from research *** reasons for the unintentional release of laboratory organisms are shortcomings in the handling of infectious liquid biological waste(LBW)and inadequate inactivation *** developed an analytical approach to investigate the use of chemical inactivation(CI)procedures in Swiss research laboratories by on-site random sampling of presumably inactivated infectious LBW and testing it for the presence of infectious lentiviruses(HIV-1.and adenoviruses(AdV).In addition,standard operating procedures(SOPs)for CI were collected and evaluated,and laboratorystaff knowledge of CI processes was assessed using a *** we found several deficiencies in the technical knowledge and training of laboratory staff on the CI of LBW,as documented by 27 returned questionnaires,no infectious viruses were detected in the eight LBW samples *** we acknowledge that the number of LBW samples and SOPs is small,we conclude that CI of LBW containing infectious lentiviruses and adenoviruses does not result in the systematic release of considerable amounts of infectious viruses into the environment from research laboratories in Switzerland.

The seamless trailing edge morphing flap is investigated using a high-fidelity steady-state aerodynamic shape optimization to determine its optimum configuration for different flight conditions,including climb,cruise,and gliding descent.A comparative study is also conducted between a wing equipped with morphing flap and a wing with conventional hinged *** optimization is performed by specifying a certain objective function and the flight performance goal for each flight *** the climb rate,extending the flight range and endurance in cruise,and decreasing the descend rate,are the flight performance goals covered in this *** optimum configurations were found for the morphing wing by determining the optimum morphing flap deflection for each flight condition,based on its objective function,each of which performed better than that of the baseline *** was shown that by using optimum configuration for the morphing wing in climb condition,the required power could be reduced by up to 3.8%and climb rate increases by 6.1.%.The comparative study also revealed that the morphing wing enhances aerodynamic efficiency by up to 1..8%and extends the laminar ***,the optimum configuration for the gliding descent brought about a 43%reduction in the descent rate.

The electrocatalytic reduction of CO_(2)is a promising pathway to generate renewable fuels and ***,its advancement is impeded by the absence of electrocatalysts with both high selectivity and ***,we present a scalable in-situ thermal evaporation technique for synthesizing series of Bi,In,and Sn nanofilms on carbon felt(CF)substrates with a high-aspect-ratio *** resulting main-group metal nanofilms exhibit a homogeneously distributed and highly exposed catalyst surface with ample active sites,thereby promoting mass transport and ad-/desorption of reaction *** from the unique fractal morphology,the Bi nanofilms deposited on CF exhibit optimal catalytic activities for CO_(2)electroreduction among the designed metal nanofilms electrodes,with the highest Faradaic efficiency of 96.9%for formate production at−1.3 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE)in *** an industrially relevant current density of 221.4 mA·cm−2 in flow cells,the Bi nanofilms retain a high Faradaic efficiency of 81.7%at−1.1.V(***)and a good long-term stability for formate ***,a techno-economic analysis(TEA)model shows the potential commercial viability of electrocatalytic CO_(2)conversion into formate using the Bi nanofilms *** results offer a green and convenient approach for in-situ fabrication of stable and inexpensive thin-film catalysts with a fractal structure applicable to various industrial settings.

The Ebola virus(EBOV)is a member of the Orthoebolavirus genus,Filoviridae family,which causes severe hemorrhagic diseases in humans and non-human primates(NHPs),with a case fatality rate of up to 90%.The development of countermeasures against EBOV has been hindered by the lack of ideal animal models,as EBOV requires handling in biosafety level(BSL)-4 ***,accessible and convenient animal models are urgently needed to promote prophylactic and therapeutic approaches against *** this study,a recombinant vesicular stomatitis virus expressing Ebola virus glycoprotein(VSV-EBOV/GP)was constructed and applied as a surrogate virus,establishing a lethal infection in *** infection with VSV-EBOV/GP,3-week-old female Syrian hamsters exhibited disease signs such as weight loss,multi-organ failure,severe uveitis,high viral loads,and developed severe systemic diseases similar to those observed in human EBOV *** animals succumbed at 2–3 days post-infection(dpi).Histopathological changes indicated that VSV-EBOV/GP targeted liver cells,suggesting that the tissue tropism of VSV-EBOV/GP was comparable to wild-type EBOV(WT EBOV).Notably,the pathogenicity of the VSV-EBOV/GP was found to be species-specific,age-related,gender-associated,and challenge ***,equine anti-EBOV immunoglobulins and a subunit vaccine were validated using this ***,this surrogate model represents a safe,effective,and economical tool for rapid preclinical evaluation of medical countermeasures against EBOV under BSL-2 conditions,which would accelerate technological advances and breakthroughs in confronting Ebola virus disease.

This paper,evaluate the effectiveness of a proposed speed loop pseudo derivative feedforward(PDFF)controller-based direct torque controller(DTC)for a PMSM drive against the performance of existing PI speed controller-based DTC and hysteresis current controller(HCC).The proposed PDFF-based speed regulator effectively reduces oscillation and overshoot associated with rotor angular speed,electromagnetic torque,and stator *** case studies,one using forward-to-reverse motoring operation and the other involving reverse-to-forward braking operation,has been validated to show the effectiveness of the proposed control *** proposed controller's superior performance is demonstrated through experimental verification utilizing an FPGA controller for a 1.5 kW PMSM drive laboratory prototype.

The origin of sedimentary dolomite has become a long-standing problem in the Earth *** carbonate minerals like ankerite have the same crystal structure as dolomite,hence their genesis may provide clues to help solving the dolomite *** purpose of this study was to probe whether microbial activity can be involved in the formation of ***-carbonation experiments associated with microbial iron reduction were performed in batch systems with various concentrations of Ca^(2+)(0–20 mmol/L),with a marine iron-reducing bacterium Shewanella piezotolerans WP3 as the reaction mediator,and with lactate and ferrihydrite as the respective electron donor and *** biomineralization data showed that Ca-amendments expedited microbially-mediated ferrihydrite reduction by enhancing the adhesion between WP3 cells and ferrihydrite *** bioreduction,siderite occurred as the principal secondary mineral in the Ca-free ***,Ca-Fe carbonates were formed when Ca^(2+)ions were *** CaCO_(3) content of microbially-induced Ca-Fe carbonates was positively correlated with the initial Ca2+*** Ca-Fe carbonate phase produced in the 20 mmol/L Ca-amended biosystems had a chemical formula of Ca_(0.8)Fe_(1.2)(CO_(3))_(2),which is close to the theoretical composition of *** ankeritelike phase was nanometric in size and spherical,Ca-Fe disordered,and structurally *** simulated diagenesis experiments further demonstrated that the resulting ankerite-like phase could be converted into ordered ankerite under hydrothermal *** introduced the term“proto-ankerite”to define the Ca-Fe phases that possess near-ankerite stoichiometry but disordered cation *** the basis of the present study,we proposed herein that microbial activity is an important contributor to the genesis of sedimentary ankerite by providing the metastable Ca-Fe carbonate precursors.
