Integrated assessment of yield,nitrogen use efficiency and ecosystem economic benefits of use of controlled-release and common urea in ratoon rice production

Controlled-release urea(CRU)is commonly used to improve the crop yield and nitrogen use efficiency(NUE).However,few studies have investigated the effects of CRU in the ratoon rice *** rice is the practice of obtaining a second harvest from tillers originating from the stubble of the previously harvested main *** this study,a 2-year field experiment using a randomized complete block design was conducted to determine the effects of CRU on the yield,NUE,and economic benefits of ratoon rice,including the main crop,to provide a theoretical basis for fertilization of ratoon *** experiment included four treatments:(i)no N fertilizer(CK);(ii)traditional practice with 5 applications of urea applied at different crop growth stages by surface broadcasting(FFP);(iii)one-time basal application of CRU(BF1.;and(iv)one-time basal application of CRU combined with common urea(BF2).The BF1.and BF2 treatments significantly increased the main crop yield by 1..47 and 1..99%in 201.,and by 1..91.and 1..44%in 2020,respectively,compared with FFP *** BF2 treatment achieved similar yield of the ratoon crop to the FFP treatment,whereas the BF1.treatment significantly increased the yield of the ratoon crop by 1..81.in 201. and 1..21.in 2020 compared with the FFP *** BF1.and BF2 treatments significantly improved the 2-year apparent N recovery efficiency,agronomic NUE,and partial factor productivity of applied N by 1..47-1..66,27.31.44.49,and 9.23-1..60%,respectively,compared with FFP *** BF1.and BF2 treatments reduced the chalky rice rate and chalkiness of main and ratoon crops relative to the FFP ***,emergy analysis showed that the production efficiency of the BF treatments was higher than that of the FFP *** BF treatments reduced labor input due to reduced fertilization times and improved the economic benefits of ratoon *** with the FFP treatment,the BF1.and BF2 treatments increased the net income by 1..21.1.

Introduction:The purpose of this study is to examine the potential causal relationship between levels of circulating glycine and coronary artery disease(CAD)using a two-step Mendelian randomization(MR)***:We analyzed data from genome-wide association studies(GWAS)conducted on European and East Asian *** assess the causal effects of circulating glycine levels on the risk of *** used the inverse-variance weighting(IVW),weighted median(WM),MR-Egger,and Mendelian Randomization Pleiotropy RESidual Sum and Outlier(MR-PRESSO)***,we conducted mediation analysis to investigate the contribution of blood pressure and other cardiovascular disease-related ***:The two-step Mendelian randomization analysis revealed that higher levels of glycine in the blood were associated with a reduced risk of CAD in Europeans[odds ratio(OR)=0.84,95%confidence interval(CI):0.72,−0.98;P=0.029]and East Asians:(OR=0.76,95%CI:0.66,−0.89;P=3.57×1.−4).Sensitivity analysis confirmed the robustness of these ***,our results suggest that about 6.06%of the observed causal effect is mediated through genetically predicted systolic blood pressure(SBP)in the European ***:Our results contribute to the current knowledge regarding the involvement of glycine in the progression of CAD,and provide valuable methodological insights for the prevention and treatment of this condition.

The realization of green and sustainable development of agriculture is the common pursuit all over the world. Agriculture green development(AGD)program has been proposed as a sustainable development strategy in China,but insufficient is known about the quantitative evaluation of spatiotemporal variation in AGD at the regional scale. This study aimed to assess spatiotemporal patterns in AGD at the county/city-based regional level. For this purpose, a systematic index evaluation system was developed to assess the performance of socioeconomic, food production and environmental components in a key economic region(Hainan Province) of China. Hainan improved its AGD index(representing the overall performance toward achieving AGD) from 38.8 in 1.88 to 40.9 in 201.. The socioeconomic development and agricultural productivity have improved with time;environmental quality declined due to overuse of chemicals from 1.88 to 201., but steadily improved after 201., indicating positive effects of reducing chemical input. There was a higher AGD index in the coastal vs. central regions and the southern vs. northern regions. Scenarios featuring improved nutrient management or optimized diet structure and reduced waste improved economic benefits and social productivity while concurrently reducing environmental degradation. These results provide new insights for the future development of green and sustainable agriculture and formulation of agricultural policies in Hainan Province of China and even other developing countries that are facing or will soon face similar challenges.

The rapid development and widespread use of ZnO nanoparticles(nZnO) in various industries have raised concerns about their potential environmental ***,understanding the fate and role of nZnO in the natural environment is crucial for mitigating their hazardous effects on the environment and human *** purpose of the present study was to provide scientific support for understanding and eliminating the joint risk of nanoparticle and heavy metal pollution in the soil environment by revealing the co-transport characteristics of Cd(Ⅱ) and ZnO nanoparticles(nZnO) in soil under different ionic strength(IS) and *** impacts of different IS and pH on the co-transport of Cd(Ⅱ) and nZnO in a20 cm long with an inner diameter of 2.5 cm acrylic column packed with 1. cm high soil samples were investigated in the present *** the above system,a500 μg L^(-1. Dear Editor,Since the first plant receptor-like kinase(RLK)gene ZmPK1.was cloned from Zea mays in 1.90(Walker and Zhang,1.90),this large gene family has been extensively studied and shown to play crucial roles in growth,development,and immunity(Tang et al.,201.).RLKs are widespread in the plant ***,biological functions of most RLKs remain largely elusive(Dievart et al.,2020).Given RLKs share a conserved monophyletic RLK/Pelle kinase domain,RLKs in several model plants are classified into distinct families by extracellular domains(Shiu and Bleecker,2001..However,independent domain shuffling in specific lineages drives the origin of novel families,which raises a question what is the landscape of RLKs across the entire plant kingdom?Previously,sequence-homology-based methods have been widely used for RLK identification and classification,which might miss distantly related proteins with similar structures and potential novel families not mentioned in the *** academic community urgently requires a dedicated database for a systematic overview of the RLK gene family,providing data support for in-depth research on RLK ***,we used a topology-based method to accurately isolate the RLKomes from *** obtained RLKomes were further classified into(sub)families based on extracellular *** con-structed a comprehensively curated plant RLK database(https://***/rlkdb),which contains valuable re-sources for investigating the origin and evolution of the RLK fam-ily and multiple online tools for personalized analysis.

WTV2.0:A high-coverage plant volatilomics method with a comprehensive selective ion monitoring acquisition mode

Volatilomics is essential for understanding the biological functions and fragrance contributions of plant ***,the annotation coverage achieved using current untargeted and widely targeted volatomics(WTV)methods has been limited by low sensitivity and/or low acquisition ***,we introduce WTV 2.0,which enabled the construction of a high-coverage library containing 21.1.plant volatiles,and report the development of a comprehensive selective ion monitoring(cSIM)acquisition method,including the selection of characteristic qualitative ions with the minimal ion number for each compound and an optimized segmentation method,that can acquire the smallest but sufficient number of ions for most plant volatiles,as well as the automatic qualitative and semi-quantitative analysis of cSIM ***,the library and acquisition method we developed can be self-expanded by incorporating compounds not present in the library,utilizing the obtained cSIM *** showed that WTV 2.0 increases the median signal-to-noise ratio by 7.6-fold compared with the untargeted method,doubled the annotation coverage compared with the untargeted and WTV 1.0 methods in tomato fruit,and led to the discovery of menthofuran as a novel flavor compound in passion *** 2.0 is a Python library with a user-friendly interface and is applicable to profiling of volatiles and primary metabolites in any species.
