Screening for Aphid Incidence on Some Potato Germplasm in Plains of West Bengal

A field trial was conducted to study the impact of various potato germplasm against aphids, Myzus persicae (Sulzer) and Aphis gossypii Glover (Aphididae: Hemiptera) during rabi season from November to March in 201.-201. and 201.-201., respectively at Adisaptagram Block Seed Farm, Hooghly, West Bengal. The population of aphids was started on potato crop in between third week of December and first week of January irrespective of various germplasms, except K. Chipsona-2, where its infestation was initiated during second and third week of January. Then, their population was gradually increased to reach its critical level (ETL) during first and second week of January in most of the potato germplasm, except in K. Anand, K. Chipsona-1. K. Chipsona-2 and Sailaja, where it was crossed in between fourth week of January and first week of February. The peak population of aphids was observed during third and fourth week of February in most of the potato germplasm. It was observed that K. Ashoka, K. Badshah, K. Chandramukhi, K. Jawahar, K. Jyoti and K. Pukhraj were highly susceptible to the pests, while K. Anand and K. Sutlez were moderately susceptible but K. Chipsona-1., K. Chipsona-2 and K. Sailaja were less susceptible or tolerant to the pests. Maximum tuber yield (t/ha) of potato was recorded in K. Badshah (36.58 - 43.92) while it was lowest in K. Chandramukhi (22.08 - 22.1.).

Objective:A natural cyclic peptide previously isolated from Citrus medica was synthesized by coupling of tetrapep-tide units Boc-Leu-Pro-Trp-Leu-OMe and Boc-Ile-Ala-Ala-Gly-OMe after proper deprotection at carboxyl and amino terminals followed by cyclization of linear octapeptide segment. Methods:Solution phase technique was adopted for the synthesis of cyclooctapeptide-sarcodactylamide. Required tetrapeptide units were prepared by coupling of Boc-protected dipeptides viz. Boc-Leu-Pro-OH and Boc-Ile-Ala-OH with respective dipeptide methyl esters Trp-Leu-OMe and Ala-Gly-OMe. Cyclization of linear octapeptide unit was done by p-nitrophenyl ester method. The structure of synthesized cyclopolypeptide was elucidated by FTIR,1. NMR,1.C NMR,FABMS spectral data and elemental analysis. The newly synthesized peptide was evaluated for dif-ferent pharmacological activities including antimicrobial,anthelmintic and cytotoxic activities. Results:Synthesis of sarcodac-tylamide was accomplished with >78% yield utilizing dicyclohexylcarbodiimide(DCC) as coupling agent. Newly synthesized peptide possessed potent cytotoxic activity against Dalton's lymphoma ascites(DLA) and Ehrlich's ascites carcinoma(EAC) cell lines,in addition to moderate anthelmintic activity against earthworms Megascoplex konkanensis,Pontoscotex corethruses and Eudrilus sp. Moreover,cyclopolypeptide displayed good antimicrobial activity against pathogenic fungi Candida albicans and Gram-negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa,in comparison to standard drugs griseofulvin and ciprofloxacin. Conclusion:Solution phase technique employing DCC and triethylamine(TEA) as base proved to be effective for the synthesis of natural cyclooctapeptide. N-methyl morpholine(NMM) was found to be a better base for the cyclization of linear octapeptide unit in comparison to TEA and pyridine.

Puerarin is a major active ingredient of the traditional Chinese plant medicine,Radix Puerariae,and commonly used in the treatment of myocardial and cerebral ***,the effects of puerarin on neuropathic pain are still *** this study,a neuropathic pain animal model was created by partial sciatic nerve ***（30 or 60 mg/kg） was intraperitoneally injected once a day for 7 *** allodynia and thermal hyperalgesia were examined at 1.day after model *** threshold and paw withdrawal latency markedly increased in a dose-dependent manner in puerarin-treated rats,especially at 7 days after model *** 7 days after model establishment,quantitative real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction results showed that puerarin administration reversed m RNA expression of transient receptor potential vanilloid 1.Trpv1. and transient receptor potential ankyrin 1.Trpa1. in a dose-dependent manner in dorsal root ganglion neurons after peripheral nerve *** results suggest that puerarin dose-dependently ameliorates neuropathic pain by suppressing Trpv1.and Trpa1.up-regulation in dorsal root ganglion of neuropathic pain rats.

1. Introduction Tokai-1.nuclear power plant (Gas Cooled Reactor) of JAPCO started commercial operation in 1.66 as the first commercial nuclear power plant in Japan and ceased its operation in 1.98. Spent fuel elements were removed out of the reactor core and shipped to the reprocessing plant shortly after the termination of operation, and these de-fuelling activities were completed in June 2001.

Chloroplast photo-relocation movement is crucial for plant survival; however, the mechanism of this phenome- non is still poorly understood. Especially, the signal that goes from photoreceptor to chloroplast is unknown, although the photoreceptors （phototropin 1.and 2） have been identified and an actin structure （chloroplast actin filaments） has been characterized that is specific for chloroplast movement. Here, in gametophytes of the fern Adiantum capillus-veneris, gametophores of the moss Physcomiterella patens, and leaves of the seed plant Arabidopsis thaliana, we sought to characterize the signaling system by measuring the lifetime of the induced response. Chloroplast movements were induced by microbeam irradiation with high-intensity blue light and recorded. The lifetime of the avoidance state was measured as a lag time between switching off the beam and the loss of avoidance behavior, and that of the accumulation state was measured as the duration of accumulation behavior following the extinction of the beam. The lifetime for the avoidance response state is approximately 3-4rain and that for the accumulation response is 1.-28 rain. These data suggest that the two responses are based on distinct signals.

Background Spinal cord injury （SCI） is a complex trauma that consists of multiple pathological mechanisms involving cytotoxic, oxidation stress and immune-endocrine. This study aimed to establish plasma metabonomics fingerprinting atlas for SCI using 1. nuclear magnetic resonance （NMR） based metabonomics methodology and principal component analysis *** Nine Sprague-Dawley （SD） male rats were randomly divided into SCI, normal and sham-operation control groups. Plasma samples were collected for 1. NMR spectroscopy 3 days after operation. The NMR data were analyzed using principal component analysis technique with Matlab *** Metabonomics analysis was able to distinguish the three groups （SCI, normal control, sham-operation）. The fingerprinting atlas indicated that, compared with those without SCI, the SCI group demonstrated the following characteristics with regard to second principal component： it is made up of fatty acids, myc-inositol, arginine, very low-density lipoprotein （VLDL）, low-density lipoprotein （LDL）, triglyceride （TG）, glucose, and *** The data indicated that SCI results in several significant changes in plasma metabolism early on and that a metabonomics approach based on 1. NMR spectroscopy can provide a metabolic profile comprising several metabolite classes and allow for relative quantification of such changes. The results also provided support for further development and application of metabonomics technologies for studying SCI and for the utilization of multivariate models for classifying the extent of trauma within an individual.

Coastal tidal wetlands produce and accumulate significant amounts of organic carbon(C) that help to mitigate climate change. However, previous data limitations have prevented a robust evaluation of the global rates and mechanisms driving C accumulation. Here, we go beyond recent soil C stock estimates to reveal global tidal wetland C accumulation and predict changes under relative sea level rise, temperature and precipitation. We use data from literature study sites and our new observations spanning wide latitudinal gradients and 20 countries. Globally, tidal wetlands accumulate 53.65(95%CI: 48.52–59.01.Tg C yr-1. which is ～30% of the organic C buried on the ocean floor. Modeling based on current climatic drivers and under projected emissions scenarios revealed a net increase in the global C accumulation by21.0. This rapid increase is driven by sea level rise in tidal marshes, and higher temperature and precipitation in mangroves. Countries with large areas of coastal wetlands, like Indonesia and Mexico, are more susceptible to tidal wetland C losses under climate change, while regions such as Australia, Brazil, the USA and China will experience a significant C accumulation increase under all projected scenarios.

The formation of root system architecture is greatly dependent on the environmental conditions such as ***(NH) is an important nitrogen source for higher ***,excess NH shows a strong suppression on root system development. Here,with local nutrition supply device,we revealed that NH-mediated inhibition of root elongation is primarily through root tip,whereas NH-mediated reduction of lateral root number is a result of shoot contact with ***,NH inhibition of root growth was shown to target primarily cell elongation,which was directly linked to excessive NH efflux in the root elongation zone,but not related to auxin *** NH efflux is regulated by GDP-mannose pyrophosphorylase(GMPase).On the other hand, NH-induced reduction of lateral root formation results from less lateral root emergence rather than lateral root initiation,which is caused by the decreased transport of shoot-derived auxin to roots,via the auxin influx carrier *** together,these results suggest regulations of primary root elongation and lateral root formation by NH is through local and systemic two independent *** findings provide a novel insight to regulations of root development by environmental nutrient factors.

In this article, floating quantization effects on multirate sampled-data control systems are studied. It shows that the solutions of multirate digital feedback control systems with nonlinear plant and with floating quantization in the controller are uniformly ultimately bounded if the associated linear systems consisting of linearization of the plant and controller with no quantization are Schur stable. Moreover, it also shows that the difference between the response of multirate digital controllers without quantizers and the same plant with floating quantization in the controllers can be made as small as desired by selecting proper quantization level.
