Dihalogenated nitrophenols(2,6-DHNPs),an emerging group of aromatic disinfection byproducts(DBPs)detected in drinking water,have limited available information regarding their persistence and toxicological *** present study found that 2,6-DHNPs are resistant to major drinking water treatment processes(sedimentation and filtration)and households methods(boiling,filtration,microwave irradiation,and ultrasonic cleaning).To further assess their health risks,we conducted a series of toxicology studies using zebrafish embryos as the model *** findings reveal that these emerging 2,6-DHNPs showed lethal toxicity 248 times greater than that of the regulated DBP,dichloroacetic ***,at sublethal concentrations,exposure to 2,6-DHNPs generated reactive oxygen species(ROS),caused apoptosis,inhibited cardiac looping,and induced cardiac failure in ***,the use of a ROS scavenger,N-acetyl-l-cysteine,considerably mitigated these adverse effects,emphasizing the essential role of ROS in 2,6-DHNP-induced *** findings highlight the cardiotoxic potential of 2,6-DHNPs in drinking water even at low concentrations of 1.μg/L and the beneficial effect of N-acetyl-l-cysteine in alleviating the 2,6-DHNP-induced *** study underscores the urgent need for increased scrutiny of these emerging compounds in public health discussions.

Ten ring-B aromatized ergosterols from Aspergillus spectabilis

Spectasterols F−O(1.1.),ten interesting ergosterols with an aromatized B ring,were obtained from Aspergillus *** structures and absolute configurations were determined using a combination of high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry(HR-ESI-MS),nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopy,single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses,and electronic circular dichroism(ECD)***,these aromatic ergosterols feature versatile side ***,compound aromatic ergosterols featured versatile side chains,and compound 4 is an unusual C23 ergosterol characterized by a shorter side chain due to oxidative cleavage between C-23 and *** compounds were evaluated for their neuroprotective activities,with compound 8 showing a dose-dependent ability to reduce apoptosis and protect mitochondrial function in glutamate-induced SH-SY5Y cells.

This study examined the potential health risks posed by the operation of 96 waste-to-energy(WtE)plants in 30 cities in the Bohai Rim of *** a sophisticated simulation approach,the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF)model coupled with the California Puff(CALPUFF)model,we obtained the spatial distribution of pollutants emitted by WtE plants in the *** indices(HI)and cancer risks(CR)were calculated for each plant using the United States environmental Protection Agency's recommended *** results indicated that both HIs and CRs were generally low,with values below the accepted threshold of 1.0 and 1.0×1.^(-6),***,the average HI and CR values for the entire study area were 2.95×1.^(-3)and 3.43×1.^(-7),***,some variability in these values was observed depending on the location and type of WtE plant.A thorough analysis of various parameters,such as waste composition,moisture content,and operating conditions,was conducted to identify the factors that influence the health risks associated with *** findings suggest that proper waste sorting and categorization,increased cost of construction,and elevated height of chimneys are effective strategies for reducing the health risks associated with ***,this study provides valuable insights into the potential health risks associated with WtE plants in the Bohai Rim region of *** findings can serve as useful guidelines for law enforcement wings and industry professionals seeking to minimize the risks associated with municipal solid waste(MSW)management and promote sustainable development.

Hydrogen acquisition from solar energy is an effective way to address energy crisis,which makes the development of efficient photocatalysts become the main direction of scientific ***,cobalt phthalocyanine/oxygen-doped g-C_(3)N_(4)(CoPc/OCN) S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst was designed by coupling multi-step calcination with solvothermal method for enhanced photothermal-assisted photocatalytic H_(2) *** multistep calcined g-C_(3)N_(4) is easier for O-doping formation,and the ethanol solvothermal strategy is utilized to enhance the dispersion of CoPc on OCN nano sheet surface and forms sufficient S-scheme heterojunction through *** addition,the active sites and excellent photothermal properties of CoPc itself further improve the integrated photocatalytic activity of CoPc/OCN S-scheme *** optimal photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate of CoPc/OCN S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst reached 9.56 mmol·g^(-1.·h^(-1.,which is 2.69 and 1.23 times higher than that of CN and OCN,*** work provides a valuable design idea and scheme for enhancing the multi-factor co-assisted photocatalytic H_(2) evolution performance.

Traveling wave piezoelectric beam actuators(TWPBAs)present an advantageous structural configuration for self-moving actuators and hold significant promise for operation in confined ***,current research on TWPBAs faces several limitations,including deficient design methods of excitation and structural parameters,inadequate evaluation metrics,and lack of a quantitative relationship between these parameters and evaluation *** study presents a systematic approach to determining TWPBAs'structure and excitation parameters,proposes criteria for determining the excitation parameters through an established analytical model,and introduces an effective evaluation method for TWPBAs'*** the analytical model and evaluation metrics,we reveal:(1.the coupling relationship between excitation parameters and structural parameters,(2)the influence of participating mode pairs on vibration response,(3)the quantitative relationship between the evaluation metrics and excitation parameters is also *** conclusions are substantiated by the results of finite element analysis,laser vibration measurements,and motion test ***,the practical application of TWPBAs in pipeline operations underscores their potential for use in endoscopy and precision instruments.

Phosphorus limitation on CO_(2)fertilization effect in tropical forests informed by a coupled biogeochemical model

Tropical forests store more than half of the world's terrestrial carbon(C)pool and account for one-third of global net primary productivity(NPP).Many terrestrial biosphere models(TBMs)estimate increased productivity in tropical forests throughout the 21.t century due to CO_(2)***,phosphorus(P)liaitations on vegetation photosynthesis and productivity could significantly reduce the CO_(2)fertilization ***,we used a carbon-nitrogen-phosphorus coupled model(Dynamic Land Ecosystem Model;DLEM-CNP)with heterogeneous maximum carboxylation rates to examine how P limitation has affected C fluxes in tropical forests *** model results showed that the inclusion of the P processes enhanced model performance in simulating ecosystem *** further compared the simulations from DLEM-CNP,DLEM-CN,and DLEMC and the results showed that the inclusion of P processes reduced the CO_(2)fertilization effect on gross primary production(GPP)by 25%and 45%,and net ecosystem production(NEP)by 28%and 41.,respectively,relative to CN-only and C-on ly *** the 1.60s to the 201.s,the DLEM-CNP estimated that in tropical forests GPP increased by 1.%,plant respiration(Ra)increased by 1.%,ecosystem respiration(Rh)increased by 1.%,NEP increased by 1.1.per unit area,***,factorial experiments with DLEM-CNP showed that the enhanced NPP benefiting from the CO_(2) fertilization effect had been offset by 1.5%due to deforestation from the 1.60s to the *** study highlights the importance of P limitation on the C cycle and the weakened CO_(2)fertilization effect resulting from P limitation in tropical forests.
