Different from rivers in humid areas,the variability of riverine CO_(2) system in arid areas is heavily impacted by anthropogenic disturbance with the increasing urbanization and water *** this study,the water chemistry and the controls of carbonate system in an urbanized river(the Fenhe River)on the semi-arid Loess Plateau were *** water chemistry of the river water showed that the high dissolved inorganic carbon(DIC)concentration(about 37 mg L^(-1.)in the upstream with a karst land type was mainly sourced from carbonate weathering involved by H_(2)CO_(3) and H_(2)SO_(4),resulting in an oversaturated partial pressure of CO_(2)(pCO_(2))(about 800μatm).In comparison,damming resulted in the widespread appearance of non-free flowing river segments,and aquatic photosynthesis dominated the DIC and pCO_(2) spatiality demonstrated by the enriched stable isotope of DIC(δ^(1.)CDIC).Especially in the mid-downstream flowing through major cities in warm and low-runoff August,some river segments even acted as an atmospheric CO_(2) *** noteworthy is wastewater input leading to a sudden increase in DIC(>55 mg L^(-1.)and pCO_(2)(>4500μatm)in the downstream of Taiyuan City,and in cold November the increased DIC even extended to the outlet of the *** results highlight the effects of aquatic production induced by damming and urban sewage input on riverine CO_(2) system in semi-arid areas,and reducing sewage discharge may mitigate CO_(2) emission from the rivers.

The design and synthesis of self-suspending photocatalyst device with easy recyclability is important for practical ***,this work utilizes aluminum-plastic package waste as raw material to prepare an aluminum-plastic supported TiO_(2)(AP-TiO_(2))photocatalyst device through 3D printing design and surface deposition method.A series of characterizations were carried out to explore the structure,morphology and performance of the AP-TiO_(2)*** UV light illumination,the AP-TiO_(2)-50 efficiently degrade 93.6%tetracycline hydrochloride(THC)after 4 hr,which increases by 8.3%compared with that of TiO_(2)powder suspension system with the same catalyst *** on it,AP-ZnO,AP-CdS,AP-g-C_3N_4and AP-Pt-TiO_(2)are also fabricated,and applied in photocatalytic degradation and hydrogen evolution,which all exhibit higher photoactivities than powder suspension *** work provides a new avenue for the fabrication of advanced recyclable photocatalyst ***,the work offers a novel sight for the high-value utilization of aluminum-plastic package waste,which has positive implications for environmental protection.

The unstable zinc anode/electrolyte interface induced by corrosion,interfacial water splitting reaction,and dendrite growth seriously degrades the performances of metal Zn anode in aqueous ***,the nucleation and growth of zinc hydroxide sulfate(ZHS),an interfacial by-product,has been tailored by Tween 80 in the electrolyte,which thereby assists in in-situ forming a dense solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)with small-sized ZHS and evenly distributed Tween *** SEI has high corrosion resistance and uniform distribution of zinc ions,which not only contributes to blocking the interfacial side reactions but also induces stable and calm zinc plating/***,the modified electrolyte can confer the assembled Zn||Zn symmetric cell with a stable operation life over 1.00 h at 1.mA·cm^(−2)and 1.mAh·cm^(−2)as well as the practical Zn||NH4V4O1. full battery with a high-rate capacity of 1.0 mAh·g^(−1.at the current density of 5 A·g^(−1..This work provides a way for regulating and reusing interfacial by-products,and a new sight on stabilization electrodes/electrolyte interfaces.

Spatial and temporal changes of glaciers and glacial lakes in the Northern Tianshan Mountains over the past 30 years

Glaciers and glacial lakes are very sensitive to climate change,and studying their dynamics is important for revealing changes in global *** this study,we extracted the boundaries of glaciers and glacial lakes in the Northern Tianshan Mountains based on Landsat TM/ETM+/OLI and Sentinel 2A/2B MSI remote sensing images and analyzed their dynamics and impacts over the past 30 *** findings indicate that in 2020,the Northern Tianshan region exhibited a total of 3254 glaciers,with an area of 1.70.55 km^(2) and a volume of 95.69 km^(3).The corresponding numbers,areas,and volumes of glacial lakes were 281.1..23 km^(2) and 21..49×1.~6 m^(3),*** the past 30 years,glaciers and glacial lakes have exhibited opposite *** former decreased by 1.,332.64 km^(2)(-0.60%·a^(–1.) and 1..36 km^(3)(-0.58%·a^(–1.),respectively,and the latter increased by 56 and2.48 km^(2)(0.82%·a^(–1.) and 38.88×1.~6 m^(3)(0.79%·a^(–1.),***,different glacier termination types cause differences in the glacier retreat ***-terminated glaciers retreated faster than land-terminated glaciers,and the type of glacier termination has a greater effect on the retreat rate than the size of the glacial area.

CCaP1.CCaP2/CCaP3 interact with plasma membrane H^(+)-ATPases and promote thermoresponsive growth by regulating cell wall modification in Arabidopsis

Arabidopsis plants adapt to warm temperatures by promoting hypocotyl growth primarily through the basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor PIF4 and its downstream genes involved in auxin responses,which enhance cell *** the current study,we discovered that cell wall-related calcium-binding protein 2(CCaP2)and its paralogs CCaP1.and CCaP3 function as positive regulators of thermo-responsive hypocotyl growth by promoting cell elongation in ***,mutations in CCaP1.CCaP2/CCaP3 do not affect the expression of PIF4-regulated classic downstream ***,they do noticeably reduce the expression of xyloglucan endotransglucosylase/hydrolase genes,which are involved in cell wall *** also found that CCaP1.CCaP2/CCaP3 are predominantly localized to the plasma membrane,where they interact with the plasma membrane H^(+)-ATPases AHA1.***,we observed that vanadate-sensitive H^(+)-ATPase activity and cell wall pectin and hemicellulose contents are significantly increased in wild-type plants grown at warm temperatures compared with those grown at normal growth temperatures,but these changes are not evident in the ccap1.1.ccap2-1.ccap3-1.triple ***,our findings demonstrate that CCaP1.CCaP2/CCaP3 play an important role in controlling thermo-responsive hypocotyl growth and provide new insights into the alternative pathway regulating hypocotyl growth at warm temperatures through cell wall modification mediated by CCaP1.CCaP2/CCaP3.

Disinfection Byproducts and Their Precursors in Drinking Water Sources:Origins,Influencing Factors,and environmental Insights

Tracing the contamination origins in water sources and identifying the impacts of natural and human processes are essential for ecological safety and public ***,current analysis approaches are not ideal,as they tend to be laborious,time-consuming,or technically *** byproducts(DBPs)are a family of well-known secondary pollutants formed by the reactions of chemical disinfectants with DBP precursors during water disinfection *** DBP precursors have various origins(e.g.,natural,domestic,industrial,and agricultural sources),and since the formation of DBPs from different precursors in the presence of specific disinfectants is distinctive,we argue that DBPs and DBP precursors can serve as alternative indicators to assess the contamination in water sources and identify pollution *** providing a retrospective of the origins of DBPs and DBP precursors,as well as the specific formation patterns of DBPs from different precursors,this article presents an overview of the impacts of various natural and anthropogenic factors on DBPs and DBP precursors in drinking water *** practice,the DBPs(i.e.,their concentration and speciation)originally present in source water and the DBP precursors determined using DBP formation potential tests—in which water samples are dosed with a stoichiometric excess of specific disinfectants in order to maximize DBP formation under certain reaction conditions—can be considered as alternative *** jointly used with other water quality parameters(e.g.,dissolved organic carbon,dissolved organic nitrogen,fluorescence,and molecular weight distribution)and specific contaminants of emerging concern(e.g.,certain pharmaceuticals and personal care products),DBPs and DBP precursors in drinking water sources can provide a more comprehensive picture of water pollution for better managing water resources and ensuring human health.

Anaerobic digestion(AD)of waste activated sludge(WAS)is usually limited by the low generation efficiency of ***(Ⅲ)-loaded chitosan composite(CTS-Fe)have been reported to effectively enhanced the digestion of WAS,but its role in promoting anaerobic sludge digestion remains *** present study,the effects of CTS-Fe on the hydrolysis and methanogenesis stages of WAS anaerobic digestion were *** addition of CTSFe increased methane production potential by 8%-23%under the tested conditions with the addition of 5-20 g/L ***,the results demonstrate that the addition of CTS-Fe could effectively promote the hydrolysis of WAS,evidenced by lower protein or polysaccharides concentration,higher soluble organic carbon in rector adding CTS-Fe,as well as the increased activity of extracellular hydrolase with higher CTS-Fe ***,the enrichment of Clostridia abundance(iron-reducing bacteria(IRBs))was observed in CTS-Fe adding reactor(8.9%-1..8%),which was higher than that in the control reactor(7.9%).The observation further suggesting the acceleration of hydrolysis through dissimilatory iron reduction(DIR)process,thus providing abundant substrates for ***,the presence of CTS-Fe was inhibited the acetoclastic and hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis process,which could be ascribed to the Fe(Ⅲ)act as electron acceptor coupled to methane for anaerobic ***,coenzyme F420 activity in the CTS-Fe added reactor was 34.9% lower than in the blank,also abundance of microorganisms involved in hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis was *** from this study could provide theoretical support for the practical applications of CTS-Fe.

Covalent organic frameworks doped with manganese-metal organic framework for peroxymonosulfate activation

A novel N, O modified Mn_(3)O_(4)@porous carbon catalyst(NOC-Mn_(3)O_(4)) was prepared by direct carbonization using the manganese-metal organic framework(Mn-MOF) and covalent organic framework(COF) as precursors to activate peroxymonosulfate(PMS) for the degradation of bisphenol A(BPA) and rhodamine B(Rh B). Benefiting from the N and O co-doping of COF, larger specific surface area, faster electron transfer and Mn cycling, the optimum 1.OC-Mn_(3)O_(4)could significantly improve the degradation performance of BPA and Rh B(92.1. and 96.9% within 30 min) as compared to C-Mn_(3)O_(4)without COF doping. In addition, 1.OC-Mn_(3)O_(4) showed good reusability and strong anti-interference ability. Radical quenching experiments, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), Electron paramagnetic resonance spectrometer(EPR) and electrochemical tests showed that the 1.OC-Mn_(3)O_(4)/PMS system degraded BPA and Rh B by both radical and non-radical pathways. Moreover, the possible degradation pathways of BPA and Rh B were proposed by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(LC-MS). Except for that, the toxicity of BPA, Rh B and their intermediates were evaluated. This study opens up a new prospect for the design of COF-doped PMS catalysts.

There is a global need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to limit the extent of climate change.A better understanding of how our own activities and lifestyle influence our energy use and carbon emissions can help us enable changes in activities that can lead to reductions in carbon *** we discuss an approach based on examining carbon emissions from the perspective of the unit C,where 1.C is the CO_(2)from food a person would on average eat every *** approach shows that total CO_(2)emissions in China,normalized by the population,is 22.5 C while carbon emissions for a person in the US is 43.9 C.A better appreciation of our own energy use can be obtained by calculating carbon emissions from our own activities in units of C,for example for driving a car gasoline or electric vehicle a certain number of kilometers,using electricity for our homes,and eating different *** this information,we can see how our carbon emissions compare to national averages in different countries and make decisions that could lower our personal CO_(2)emissions.
