The Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean,which has been closing gradually from the west to the east beginning since the Late Paleozoic,was an important part of the Central Asian Orogenic *** influenced the tectonic framework of Northeast Asia in the Mesozoic,especially the Late Mesozoic arc-basin system that is widely distributed in the Great Xing’an ***,the manner in which the Mongol-Okhotsk Ocean affected the sedimentary basin development remains poorly *** address this issue,we conducted U-Pb dating of detrital zircon deposited sedimentary basins of the central Great Xing’an *** examining the possible provenances of the detrital zircon and the structural controls of the basins,we found that a key sedimentary unit was deposited around Late Jurassic-Early *** provenance was a felsic source in a back-arc setting of an active continental *** findings also suggest the existence of a unified geodynamic setting that affected the coeval development of basins in the northern Great Xing’an Range and the Yanshan fold-thrust belt along the northern margin of North China *** research helps to better understand the complex tectonic processes which shaped the Northeast Asia during the Late Mesozoic.

The Mesozoic fan deltas in the north-west margin of the Junggar Basin,as important petroleum reservoirs,exhibited complex facies change and internal structures with strong heterogeneity which were controlled by the transformation of slope-patterns,bringing great challenges to the study of sedimentary *** Upper Karamay Formation at north-west margin of the Junggar Basin was the objective in this paper which attempts to clarify the mechanism of sedimentary response and sand-body distribution of fan delta systems under the control of slope-pattern *** on a data set of cores,well logs and seismic,two types of slope-pattern were identified in the study area,which include steep-to-gentle in the south and gentle-to-steep in the *** control of difference slope-patterns on the sand-body distribution was clarified based on the analysis of the sedimentary dynamics,facies characteristics,and depositional evolution of the fan *** study shows that the transport mechanism of sediments on the steep-slope was dominated by debris flows,developing coarse-grained,thick-bedded lobes with poor structural maturity of *** the gentle-slope,the deposition was dominated by hyperconcentrated-traction currents,forming relatively fine-grained,thin-bedded lobes with increased sandy *** sand-bodies show frequent bar-channel transformation and channel down-cutting under the steep slope setting,which exhibit migration of isolated river channels on the gentle *** the steep-to-gentle pattern,the coase-grained sediments were mainly accumulated at slope toe,generally developed equiaxial ***,the coarse-grained clasts were preserved both at proximal and distal lobes on the gentle-to-steep slopes,showing obvious lateral extension of the fan *** slope patterns controlled sedimentary respond rates of the fan deltas during lake level *** comparing the modern cases of fan systems worldwide,the control of slope patterns on deposit

The podiform chromitites in the Luobusha ophiolite have been thought to experience a very deep formation,but the maximum depth is still an open ***,we have investigated the structural stability of natural magnesiochromite using the synchrotron-based powder X-ray diffraction and diamond anvil cells up to 48.6 GPa and 2450 *** results have shown that spinel-type magnesiochromite first decomposes into corundum-type‘Cr_(2)O_(3)’+B1.type‘MgO’at 1.–1. GPa and 1.50–1.50 K,then modified ludwigite(mLd)-type‘Mg_(2)Cr_(2)O_(5)’+corundum-type‘Cr_(2)O_(3)’at 1..3–20.5 GPa and 1.00–2000 K,and finally CaTi_(2)O_(4)-type phase at 24.5 *** the quenching procession from high-temperature-pressure conditions,the mLd-type phase appeared again and was kept at ambient *** also obtained the isothermal equation states of spinel-type and CaTi_(2)O_(4)-type phases,revealing the composition effect on their *** on the updated results,we propose chromitites could not experience pressure exceeding∼1..3 GPa(approximate maximum depth∼400 km)in the subduction-recycling genesis model.

Natural gas hydrate has huge reserves and is widely distributed in marine *** commercial development is of great significance for alleviating the contradiction between energy supply and *** an efficient research method,numerical simulation can provide valuable insights for the design and optimization of hydrate ***,most of the current production models simplify the reservoir as a two-dimensional(2D)horizontal layered model,often ignoring the impact of formation dip *** improve the accuracy of production prediction and provide theoretical support for the optimization of production well design,two three-dimensional(3D)geological models with different dip angles based on the geological data from two typical sites are *** vertical well,horizontal well and multilateral wells are deployed in these reservoirs with different permeabilities to perform production trial,and the sensitivity analysis of dip angles is also carried *** short-term production behaviors in high and low permeability reservoirs with different dip angles are *** simulation results show that 1.the gas and water production behaviors for different well types in the two typical reservoirs show obviously different variation laws when the short-term depressurization is conducted in the inclined formation;2)the inclined formation will reduce the gas production and increase the water extraction,and the phenomena becomes pronounced as the dip angle increases,particularly in the low-permeability reservoirs;3)and the impact of formation dip on hydrate recovery does not change significantly with the variation of well type.

The chirp sub-bottom profiler,for its high resolution,easy accessibility and cost-effectiveness,has been widely used in acoustic *** this paper,the acoustic impedance and grain size compositions were obtained based on the chirp sub-bottom profiler data collected in the Chukchi Plateau area during the 1.th Arctic Expedition of *** time-domain adaptive search matching algorithm was used and validated on our established theoretical *** misfit between the inversion result and the theoretical model is less than 0.067%.The grain size was calculated according to the empirical relationship between the acoustic impedance and the grain size of the *** average acoustic impedance of sub-seafloor strata is 2.5026×1.^(6) kg(s m^(2))^(-1.and the average grain size(θvalue)of the seafloor surface sediment is 7.1.98,indicating the predominant occurrence of very fine silt sediment in the study *** of the inversion results and the laboratory measurements of nearby borehole samples shows that they are in general agreement.

As important metal sulfides in the geochemical cycle of sulfur,the characteristics and formation processes of pyrites can provide useful clues regarding their *** on previous findings,shale pyrites were divided into three major classes(euhedral pyrites,framboidal pyrites(framboids)and metasomatic pyrites)and six sub-classes in this *** the microscopic scale,each type of pyrite is associated with a different formation *** are formed by burst nucleation in environments with a homogeneous distribution of nutrients while euhedral pyrites are usually formed on pre-existing sites(such as=FeS on the minerals surface)in the heterogeneous *** pyrites formed by the replacement of other ions in accountable material by iron ions and hydrogen sulfide ions in hydrothermal *** morphology and isotope value of pyrite provide information to track the origins of their nutrient and characteristics of sulfur and iron *** addition,the trace element content of pyrite can serve as a proxy for paleo-ocean trace element abundance,indicating changes in atmospheric oxygen ***,pyrite can also serves as an indicator of shale gas reservoirs.

Numerical and theoretical study of load transfer behavior during cascading pillar failure

To further study the load transfer mechanism of roofemulti-pillarefloor system during cascading pillar failure(CPF),numerical simulation and theoretical analysis were carried out to study the three CPF modes according to the previous experimental study on treble-pillar specimens,*** failure mode(SFM),domino failure mode(DFM)and compound failure mode(CFM).Based on the finite element code rock failure process analysis(RFPA^(2D)),numerical models of treble-pillar specimen with different mechanical properties were established to reproduce and verify the experimental results of the three CPF *** results show that the elastic rebound of roofefloor system induced by pillar instability causes dynamic disturbance to adjacent pillars,resulting in sudden load increases and sudden jump displacement of adjacent *** phenomena of load transfer in the roofemulti-pillarefloor system,as well as the induced accelerated damage behavior in adjacent pillars,were discovered and *** addition,based on the catastrophe theory and the proposed mechanical model of treble-pillar specimen edisc spring group system,a potential function that characterizes the evolution characteristics of roof emulti-pillarefloor system was *** analytical expressions of sudden jump and energy release of treble-pillar specimenedisc spring group system of the three CPF modes were derived according to the potential *** numerical and theoretical results show good agreement with the experimental *** study further reveals the physical essence of load transfer during CPF of roof emulti-pillarefloor system,which provides references for mine design,construction and disaster prevention.

The electrochemical interaction between galena and monoclinic pyrrhotite was investigated to examine its impact on the physical and chemical properties of the mineral *** investigation employed techniques such as electrochemistry,metal ion stripping,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and quantum *** electrochemical test results demonstrate that the galena surface in the electro-couple system exhibits a lower electrostatic potential and higher electrochemical activity compared to the monoclinic pyrrhotite surface,rendering it more susceptible to oxidation *** pyrrhotite significantly amplifies the corrosion rate of the galena *** charge population calculations indicate that electrons are consistently transferred from galena to monoclinic pyrrhotite,with the number of electron transfers on the mineral surface increasing as the interaction distance *** analysis of state density revealed a shift in the surface state density of galena towards lower energy levels,resulting in decreased reactivity and increased difficulty for the reagent to adsorb onto the mineral ***,monoclinic pyrrhotite exhibited an opposite *** X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)test results indicate that galvanic interaction leads to the formation of hydrophilic substances,PbS_(x)O_(y) and Pb(OH)_(2),on the surface of ***,the surface of monoclinic pyrrhotite not only adsorbs Pb^(2+)but also undergoes S^(0) formation,thereby augmenting its hydrophobic nature.

The ocean is the largest active carbon reservoir on Earth. Organic carbon(OC), as the primary species of carbon sequestration in the ocean, plays an important role in the global carbon cycle through its deposition and burial. In this study,sedimentary OC data from 5796 stations, together with relevant geochemical and sedimentological parameters in the Bohai Sea,Yellow Sea, and East China Sea(BYES) were used to summarize and elucidate the distribution and burial patterns of sedimentary OC, and assess carbon sink effect of sedimentary OC burial. The results show that the OC content in the sediments of the BYES ranges from 0.00% to 2.1.%, with an average content of 0.47%±0.26%. OC content is significantly correlated with finegrained sediments, with an average OC content in mud areas being 39% higher than that in non-mud areas. Modern OC buried in the BYES are mainly deposited in 7 major mud areas, with a total sedimentary OC burial flux of approximately 8.20 Mt C yr^(–1..Among them, the burial flux of biospheric OC is 6.92 Mt C yr^(–1., equivalent to the OC consumption amount of silicate weathering of the 9 major river basins in the eastern China. In its natural state, the annually sequestered OC in the sediments of the eastern China seas is equivalent to 25.37 Mt of atmospheric CO_(2), indicating a significant carbon sink effect. The distribution and burial of terrigenous OC in the BYES are mainly influenced by the large river inputs and complex marine hydrodynamic environment,while human activities such as dam construction have significantly altered the OC burial in these coastal mud areas.
