The corrosion rates of additive-manufactured Mg alloys are higher than their as-cast counterparts,possibly due to increased kinetics for the hydrogen evolution reaction on secondary phases,which may include oxide *** Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy demonstrated that MgO inclusions could act as cathodes for Mg corrosion,but their low conductivity likely precludes ***,the density of state calculations through density functional theory using hybrid HSE06 functional revealed overlapping electronic states at the Mg/MgO interface,which facilitates electron transfers and participates in redox *** determination of the hydrogen absorption energy at the Mg/MgO interface reveals it to be an excellent catalytic site,with HER being found to be a factor of 23x more efficient at the interface than on metallic *** results not only support the plausibility of the Mg/MgO interface being an effective cathode to the adjacent anodic Mg matrix during corrosion but also contribute to the understanding of the enhanced cathodic activities observed during the anodic dissolution of magnesium.

The recently deployed Transition Region Explorer(TREx)-RGB(red-green-blue)all-sky imager(ASI)is designed to capture“true color”images of the aurora and *** the 557.7 nm green line is usually the brightest emission line in visible auroras,the green channel of a TREx-RGB camera is usually dominated by the 557.7 nm *** this rationale,the TREx mission does not include a specific 557.7 nm imager and is designed to use the RGB green-channel data as a proxy for the 557.7 nm *** this study,we present an initial effort to establish the conversion ratio or formula linking the RGB green-channel data to the absolute intensity of 557.7 nm auroras,which is crucial for quantitative uses of the RGB *** illustrate two approaches:(1.through a comparison with the collocated measurement of green-line auroras from the TREx spectrograph,and(2)through a comparison with the modeled green-line intensity according to realistic electron precipitation flux measurements from low-Earth-orbit satellites,with the aid of an auroral transport *** demonstrate the procedures and provide initial results for the TREx-RGB ASIs at the Rabbit Lake and Lucky Lake *** RGB response is found to be *** conversion ratios or formulas between RGB green-channel data and the green-line auroral intensity are given and can be applied immediately by TREx-RGB data *** methodology established in this study will also be applicable to the upcoming SMILE ASI mission,which will adopt a similar RGB camera system in its deployment.

A series of high-entropy alloys(HEAs) containing nanoprecipitates of varying sizes is successfully prepared by a non-consuming vacuum arc melting *** order to study the irradiation evolution of helium bubbles in the FeCoNiCrbased HE As with γ' precipitates,these samples are irradiated by 1.0-keV helium ions with a fluence of 5 × 1.^(20) ions/m^(2) at 293 K and 673 K,*** the samples irradiated at room temperature are annealed at different temperatures to examine the diffusion behavior of helium *** electron microscope(TEM) is employed to characterize the structural morphology of precipitated nanoparticles and the evolution of helium *** results reveal that nanosized,spherical,dispersed,coherent,and ordered L1.(2)-type Ni_(3)Ti γ' precipitations are introduced into FeCoNiCr(Ni_(3)Ti)_(0.1. HEAs by means of ageing treatments at temperatures between 1.73 K and 1.23 *** the ageing treatment conditions adopted in this work,γ' nanoparticles are precipitated in FeCoNiCr(Ni_(3)Ti)_(0.1. HE As,with average diameters of 1..80 nm,37.09 nm,and 62.50 nm,*** average sizes of helium bubbles observed in samples after 673-K irradiation are 1.46 nm,1.65 nm,and 1.58 nm,*** improvement in the irradiation resistance of FeCoNiCr(Ni_(3)Ti)_(0.1. HEAs is evidenced by the diminution in bubbles ***,the FeCoNiCr(Ni_(3)Ti)_(0.1. HEAs containing γ' precipitates of 1..8 nm exhibits the minimum size and density of helium bubbles,which can be ascribed to the considerable helium trapping effects of heterogeneous coherent phase ***,annealing experiments conducted after 293-K irradiation indicate that HEAs containing precipitated phases exhibits smaller apparent activation energy(E_(a)) for helium bubbles,resulting in larger helium bubble *** study provides guidance for improving the irradiation resistance of L1.(2)-strengthened high-entropy alloy.

A series of undrained triaxial tests was conducted to investigate the effect of crushed mudstone with the immersion-induced degradation on the liquefaction and post-liquefaction properties,and the undrained shearing behavior without precedent cyclic-loading histories of sands containing crushed *** tested materials with a main particle diameter of 2-0.85 mm were prepared by mixing sands and crushed mudstone to reach the prescribed mudstone content defined by dry mass ranging from 0% to 50%.The mixtures were subjected to immersion under a certain stress level and were subsequently *** addition,one-dimensional compression tests were also supplementally performed to visually observe the immersion-induced degradation of crushed *** test results mainly showed that: (1. the liquefaction resistance,the post-liquefaction undrained strength,and the undrained strength without a precedent cyclic-loading history decreased significantly with increasing mudstone content,M c ,up to 20%;(2) even a small amount of crushed mudstone affected these strengths;(3) the above-mentioned large reductions in the strengths were attributed to the immersion-induced degradation of crushed mudstone;(4) at M_(c) >20%,the liquefaction resistance increased while the significant increase in the undrained static strengths with and without precedent cyclic-loading histories was not observed;and (5) the increase in the liquefaction resistance at M_(c) >20% may have been attributed to both the gradual increase in the plasticity and the formation of the soil aggregates among deteriorated crushed mudstone,while the increase in the specimen density did not play an important role in such behavior.

BACKGROUND Morgagni hernia(MH)is a form of congenital diaphragmatic hernia(CDH)characterized by an incomplete formation of diaphragm,resulting in the protru-sion of abdominal organs into the thoracic *** estimated incidence of CDH is between 1.in 2000 and 1.in 5000 live births,although the true incidence is *** typically presents in childhood and can be diagnosed either pre-natally or ***,it can also be asymptomatic and carry the risk of developing into a life-threatening condition in *** SUMMARY A 76-year-old female with no history of prior abdominal surgeries presented for an elective colonoscopy for polyp *** the procedure,when approaching the hepatic flexure,the scope could not be advanced further despite multiple *** patient experienced mild abdominal discomfort,leading to the abortion of the *** in the recovery area,she developed increa-sing abdominal pains and *** abdominal imaging revealed her-niation of the proximal transverse colon through a MH into the chest with evi-dence of *** patient underwent laparoscopic urgent colonic resection and primary hernia repair and was discharged uneventfully 2 d *** A MH is a rare condition in adults that can present as a life-threatening compli-cation of colonoscopy,even in patients with a history of uneventful *** case highlights the importance of considering congenital and internal hernias when faced with sudden and unexplained difficulties during *** there is a suspicion of MH,the endoscopist should halt the procedure and immediately obtain abdominal imaging to confirm the diagnosis.

Surface area,pore properties,synergistic behavior,homogenous dispersion,and interactions between carbon matrix and metal-nanostructures are the key factors for achieving the better performance of carbon-metal based(electro)***,the traditional hydro-or solvothermal preparation of(electro)catalysts,particularly,bi-or tri-metallic nanostructures anchored graphene(G)or carbon nanotubes(CNTs),often pose to poor metal–support interaction,low synergism,and patchy *** first,bimetallic flower-like-CuFeS_(2)/NG and cube-like-NiFeS_(2)/NCNTs nanocomposites were prepared by solvothermal *** resultant bimetallic nanocomposites were employed to derive the 2D-nano-sandwiched Fe_(2)CuNiS_(4)/NGCNTs-SW(electro)catalyst by a very simple and green urea-mediated“mix-heat”*** desired physicochemical properties of Fe_(2)CuNiS_(4)/NGCNTs-SW such as multiple active sites,strong metal-support interaction,homogenous dispersion and enhanced surface area were confirmed by various microscopic and spectroscopic *** the best of our knowledge,this is the first urea-mediated“mix-heat”method for preparing 2D-nano-sandwiched carbon-metal-based(electro)*** Fe_(2)CuNiS_(4)/NGCNTs-SW was found to be highly effective for alkaline-mediated oxygen evolution reaction at low onset potential of 284.24 mV,and the stable current density of 1. mA cm^(−2) in 1.0 m KOH for 1. ***,the Fe_(2)CuNiS_(4)/NGCNTs-SW demonstrated excellent catalytic activity in the reduction of 4-nitrophenol with good kapp value of 87.71.1.^(−2)s^(-1.and excellent reusability over five ***,the developed urea-mediated“mix-heat”method is highly efficient for the preparation of metal-nanoarchitectures anchored 2D-nano-sandwiched(electro)catalysts with high synergism,uniform dispersion and excellent metal-support interaction.
