Cellulose synthase ‘class specific regions’ are intrinsically disordered and functionally undifferentiated

Cellulose synthases （CESAs） are glycosyltransferases that catalyze formation of cellulose microfibrils in plant cell walls. Seed plant CESA isoforms cluster in six phylogenetic clades, whose non-interchangeable members play distinct roles within cellulose synthesis complexes （CSCs）. A ＇class specific region＇（CSR）, with higher sequence similarity within versus between functional CESA classes, has been suggested to contribute to specific activities or interactions of different isoforms. We investigated CESA isoform specificity in the moss, Physcomitrella patens （Hedw.） B. S. G. to gain evolutionary insights into CESA structure/function relationships. Like seed plants, P. patens has oligomeric rosette-type CSCs, but the PpCESAs diverged independently and form a separate CESA clade. We showed that P. patens has two functionally distinct CESAs classes, based on the ability to complement the gametophore-negative phenotype of a ppcesa5 knockout line. Thus, non-interchangeable CESA classes evolved separately in mosses and seed plants. However, testing of chimeric moss CESA genes for complementation demonstrated that functional classspecificity is not determined by the CSR. Sequence analysis and computational modeling showed that the CSR is intrinsically disordered and contains predicted molecular recognition features, consistent with a possible role in CESA oligomerization and explaining the evolution of class-specific sequences without selection for class-specific function.

Studying infall in infrared dark clouds with multiple HCO+ transitions

We investigate the infall properties in a sample of 11 infrared dark clouds（IRDCs） showing blue-asymmetry signatures in HCO+J=1-0 line *** used JCMT to conduct mapping observations in HCO+J=4-3 as well as single-point observations in HCO+J=3-2,towards 23 clumps in these *** applied the HILL model to fit these observations and derived infall velocities in the range of 0.5-2.7 km s-1,with a median value of 1.0 km s-1,and obtained mass accretion rates of 0.5-14 ×10-3Mo *** values are comparable to those found in massive star forming clumps in later evolutionary *** IRDC clumps are more likely to form star ***+J=3-2 and HCO+J=1-0 were shown to trace infall signatures well in these IRDCs with comparable inferred ***+J=4-3,on the other hand,exhibits infall signatures only in a few very massive clumps,due to smaller *** obvious correlation for these clumps was found between infall velocity and the NH3/CCS ratio.

Robustness of Cooperation on Highly Clustered Scale-Free Networks

We study the effect of mutation on the evolutionary prisoner＇s dilemma in highly clustered scale-free networks. It is found that cooperation is more sensitive and vulnerable to strategy mutation in more highly clustered networks. For small mutation rates, high clustering coefficient promotes cooperation. For medium mutation rates, high clustering coefficient inhibits the emergence of cooperation. For large mutation rates, cooperation is insensitive to clustering property. We provide explanations for the effects of clustering on cooperation with varied mutation rates.

Because of descriptive nonlinearity and computational inefficiency,topology optimization with fatigue life under aperiodic loads has developed slowly.A fatigue constraint topology optimization method based on bidirectional evolutionary structural optimization(BESO)under an aperiodic load is proposed in this *** viewof the severe nonlinearity of fatigue damagewith respect to design variables,effective stress cycles are extracted through transient dynamic *** on the Miner cumulative damage theory and life requirements,a fatigue constraint is first quantified and then transformed into a stress ***,a normalized termination criterion is proposed by approximatemaximum stress measured by global stress using a P-normaggregation ***,optimization examples show that the proposed algorithm can not only meet the requirements of fatigue life but also obtain a reasonable configuration.

Cooperation and distributed optimization for the unreliable wireless game with indirect reciprocity

Cooperation in packet forwarding among users and operators of a distributed wireless network has been widely studied. However, because of the limited computational resources, users in wireless communication do not prefer to cooperate with others unless cooperation may improve their own performance. Therefore, the key problem in cooperation enforcement must be solved first to enable a wireless network to be efficient. Yet,most of the existing game-theoretic cooperation stimulation approaches assume that the interactions between any pair of players(users) are long-lasting. In this paper, we apply game theory to optimize the communication efficiency of a distributed wireless network with finite number of interactions between any pair of players. Based on the mechanism of indirect reciprocity, we theoretically analyze the optimal action rule with the method of dynamic programming, and derive the approximate threshold of benefit-to-cost ratio to achieve the optimal action rule. Furthermore, we adopt the replicator dynamics to assess the evolutionary stability of the optimal action rule against the perturbation effect. Numerical illustrations verify the performance of the proposed method on wireless cooperation.

We present one of the first Shanghai Tian Ma Radio Telescope (TMRT) K Band observations towards a sample of 26 infrared dark clouds (IRDCs).We observed the (1,1),(2,2),(3,3),and (4,4) transitions of NH_(3) together with CCS (2_(1)–>1_(0)) and HC_(3)NJ=2-1,*** survey dramatically increases the existing CCS-detected IRDC sample from 8 to 23,enabling a better statistical study of the ratios of carbon-chain molecules (CCM) to N-bearing molecules in *** the newly developed hyperfine group ratio (HFGR) method of fitting NH_(3) inversion lines,we found the gas temperature to be between 10 and18 *** column density ratios of CCS to NH_(3) for most of the IRDCs are less than 10^(-2),distinguishing IRDCs from low-mass star-forming *** carried out chemical evolution simulations based on a three-phase chemical model *** measurements of the column density ratios between CCM and NH_(3) are consistent with chemical evolutionary ages of 10^(5) yr in the *** of the data and chemical models suggest that CCS,HC_(3)N,and NH_(3) are sensitive to the chemical evolutionary stages of the sources.

Global annealing genetic algorithm and its convergence analysis

A new selection mechanism termed global annealing selection (GAnS) is proposed for the genetic algorithm. It is proved that the GAnS genetic algorithm converges to the global optimums if and only if the parents are allowed to compete for reproduction, and that the variance of population’s fitness can be used as a natural stopping criterion. Numerical simulations show that the new algorithm has stronger ability to escape from local maximum and converges more rapidly than canonical genetic algorithm.
