For a cost-effective connection of large-scale longdistance wind energy.a low frequency alternating current(LFAC)transmission scheme(16.7 Hz or 20 Hz)is proposed as an alternative to the conventional high voltage alternating current(HVAC)transmission scheme(50 Hz or 60 Hz)and the recently popular high voltage direct current(HVDC)transmission scheme(0 Hz).The technical feasibility of the LFAC system is demonstrated but the basis for identifying the distance ranges for which LFAC would be preferable to HVAC and HVDC are not established and the dependence of this range on factors,such as power transfer rating,voltage rating and cable/line type,is not *** paper presents an in-depth analysis for the overall cost of LFAC system and then provides an extensive comparison with HVAC and HVDC,to explore the distance ranges over which LFAC is cost-effective over both HVAC and HVDC in connections of offshore and remote onshore wind *** results demonstrate that the LFAC system does possess ranges in the intermediate distance for which it is more cost-effective than both HVAC and HVDC,and its overall cost advantage is generally larger in the overhead line(OHL)connection of remote onshore wind energy.than the cable connection of offshore wind energy.

Selection of the wind turbine manufacturer is naturally an important issue for wind energy.companies when they build new wind farms. This paper describes the main factors by which wind energy.companies choose their turbine manufacturers in a selected case region in Finland. The study was conducted using semi-structured interviews, for which the experts and decision makers of selected wind energy.companies formed the focus group. During the analysis of the results, it became clear that it was not possible to form a detailed and prioritized list of selection criteria, but still some general themes emerged. The main theme was the manufacturer and product reliability, and then the production volume, cost factors, availability factors, and the organization of maintenance in this order. Interestingly, the arctic conditions of the selected case region did not play any significant role.

The main purpose of this article is to perform a technical-economic analysis of different microgeneration systems （photovoltaic and wind turbine systems） that can be installed in a single-family house. One of the strategies for improving energy.performance of buildings is the installation of microgeneration systems. This will enable Portugal to meet the goal regarding the share of renewable sources on gross final energy.consumption imposed by the European Commission climate change and energy.package for 2020. The analysis of four different micro-generation systems will take into account the local availability of renewable resources and market technologies and the new Portuguese law concerning microgeneration to promote renewable energy.sources in households. The Portuguese microgeneration legal framework is also highlighted.

wind energy.is considered a hope in future as a clean and sustainable energy. as can be seen by the growing number of wind farms installed all over the world. With the huge proliferation of wind farms, as an alternative to the traditional fossil power generation, the economic issues dictate the necessity of monitoring systems to optimize the availability and profits. The relatively high cost of operation and maintenance associated to wind power is a major issue. wind turbines are most of the time located in remote areas or offshore and these factors increase the referred operation and maintenance costs. Good maintenance strategies are needed to increase the health management of wind turbines. The objective of this paper is to show the application of neural networks to analyze all the wind turbine information to identify possible future failures, based on previous information of the turbine.
