China established Xiong’an New Area in Hebei Province in 2017,which is planned to accommodate about 5 million people,aiming to relieve Beijing City of the functions non-essential to its role as China’s capital and to expedite the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei *** 2017 to 2021,the China Geological Survey(CGS)took the lead in multi-factor urban geological surveys involving space,resources,environments,and disasters according to the general requirements of“global vision,international standards,distinctive Chinese features,and future-oriented goals”in Xiong’an New Area,identifying the engineering geologic conditions and geologic environmental challenges of this *** achievements also include a 3D engineering geological structure model for the whole area,along with“one city proper and five clusters”,insights into the ecology and the background endowment of natural resources like land,geothermal resources,groundwater,and wetland of the area before engineering construction,a comprehensive monitoring network of resources and environments in the area,and the“Transparent Xiong’an”geological information platform that is open,shared,dynamically updated,and three-dimensionally ***’s geologists and urban geology have played a significant role in the urban planning and construction of Xiong’an New Area,providing whole-process geological solutions for urban planning,construction,operation and *** future urban construction of Xiong’an New Area will necessitate the theoretical and technical support of earth system science(ESS)from various aspects,and the purpose is to enhance the resilience of the new type of city and to provide support for the green,low-carbon,and sustainable development of this area.

wetland ecosystem is an essential ecosystem in the world. Its organic carbon stock and carbon cycle are important basis of global carbon cycle researches and also major contents of global climate change researches. Researches have shown that wetland protection and restoration can promote carbon accumulation and reduce emission of greenhouse gases. This paper discussed influence of carbon stock and carbon balance of wetland ecosystem and emission of greenhouse gases,as well as the relationship between wetland and global climate changes. Finally,it made prospect on researches about carbon cycle of Dongting Lake.

Study on the Purification Effect of Phosphorus in Sewage from Sediments in Coastal wetland of Yellow River Delta

[Objectives] This study was conducted to explore whether the coastal wetlands in the Yellow River Delta have become secondary pollution sources. [Methods] With a coastal reed wetland in the Yellow River Delta as a research object, the SMT method and DGT technology were combined to study the vertical distribution of different forms of phosphorus in the sediment and the distribution characteristics of phosphorus at the sediment-interstitial/overlying water interface of the wetland to clarify the receiving and purification capabilities of wetlands in this region. [Results] The total phosphorus content in the wetland’s water intake area, dense reed area and water outlet area increased with the depth increasing;and the wetland phosphorus accumulated in the deep layer, and the total phosphorus content in the wetland sediments was as high as 936.30 mg/kg. The research on the phosphorus forms in the wetland sediments found that the content of Ca phosphorus was the highest in the wetland sediments, followed by the content of Fe/Al-bonded phosphorus, and the exchangeable phosphorus content was the lowest. The DGT sampling technology was used to investigate the distribution characteristics of phosphorus at wetland sediment-interstitial/overlying water micro-interface. It was found that the concentrations of phosphorus in the overlying water of the water intake area, dense reed area and water outlet area were significantly higher than that in the interstitial water. The wetland pollution level in this research area was high and had an obvious cumulative effect. [Conclusions] The results show that the wetland sediments in this region have a strong ability to retain phosphorus, and can control the migration and transformation of endogenous phosphorus, and the wetland has not become a secondary pollution source.

wetland with biological and ecological diversity, which can regulate regional climate, humidity, temperature, etc., has high tourism value. Development and management of wetland park in China started late, so we should establish explicit goals to adjust wetland management and publicity from the aspects of regularity, professionality and availability, to promote the sustainable development of wetland resources.

From March 2014 to February 2015, the soil fauna community in the karst cave wetland of Maolan Nature Reserve was investigated. A total of 3,820 soil fauna was obtained, belonging to 31 orders, 11 classes, and 3 phyla. The dominant groups were Araneae, Coleoptera and Hymenoptera, accounting for 48.90% of the total catch. There were 18 common groups and 10 rare groups. The diversity analysis showed that the Banzhai karst cave wetland had the largest soil fauna community diversity index and evenness index and that the Dongsai karst cave wetland had the largest number of groups and individuals. The seasonal variation of the soil fauna in the karst cave wetlands was analyzed: the number of soil fauna individuals showed a downtrend in summer, autumn, spring and winter; there were the highest number of phytophagous soil fauna, followed by predatory soil fauna and saprophagous soil fauna.

Problems in the current construction of urban wetland park in China were analyzed from the perspectives of ideological understanding,professional technology,capital investment,planning and design and management *** countermeasures were proposed,specifically,more efforts should be devoted in propaganda and education,professionals cultivated for wetland development,capital investment in protection of wetland increased,the principle of systematic protection,reasonable utilization and coordinated construction followed,the legal system for the protection and utilization of wetland established,management and coordination system for the protection and sustainable utilization of wetland resources established.

Coastal wetlands in the Yellow River Delta are typical new wetland ecosystems in warm temperate zone. In recent years, influenced by natural and human factors, these coastal wetlands in the Yellow River Delta have undergone changes of landscape fragmentation, vegetation degradation, pollution, species reduction, and harmful exotic species invasion. These changes have influenced sustainable and healthy development of marine economy of the Yellow River Delta. To protect natural ecological environment of the Yellow River Delta, the authors recommended that it should establish and improve policies, laws and regulations of wetland protection; carry out wetland resource investigation and assessment and monitoring; strengthen comprehensive protection and control of wetland; reduce wetland degradation and promote sustainable use of wetland.

Through investigating wetland resources in Jinggu County, spatial distribution, type and area of wetland in Jinggu County, as well as its animal resources were fi gured out and analyzed systematically. Major threats that the local wetland resources are faced with were summarized, and corresponding strategies for the protection and sustainable development of the wetland resources were proposed to provide useful references for the distribution of wetland resources in the county.
