Laser Raman spectrochemical analysis on single inclusion reveals that multi-phase fluid inclusions exist in the Xuebaoding Beryl- Scheelite vein Deposit. Besides the solid daughter mineral, there are vapor CO2, liquid CO2, water-deficient CO2 and salt water solution from its center to the border. A close study on the fluid inclusion components and carbon, oxygen, helium and argon isotope tracing and dating suggests that the volatile-rich ore fluid might derive from postmagmatic fluid and rare element enrichment is the result of the mixture of the plutonic alkali granite with crustal material.

Yushugou granulite-peridotite complex,located at the east part of the northern margin of South Tianshan,may represent an ophiolitic slice subducted to 40–50 km depth with high-pressure granulite facies *** a lot of studies have been conducted on rocks in this belt,the rock association and tectonic background of the ophiolitic slice are still in dispute.A detailed study on petrology,phase equilibrium modeling and U-Pb zircon ages have been performed on the metagabbro vein in peridotite unit to constrain the tectonic evolution of the Yushugou granulite-peridotite *** stages of mineral assemblage in the metagabbro were defined as stage I:Cpx^A+Opx^A+Pl^A,which represents the original minerals of the metagabbro vein;stage II:Cpx^B+Opx^B+Pl^B+Spl,which represents the mineral assemblage of granulite facies metamorphism with peak P-T conditions of 4.2–6.9 kbar and 940–1070℃;stage III is characterized by the existence of prehnite,thomsonite and amphibole in the matrix,indicating that the metagabbro vein may be influenced by fluids during retrograde *** with the crosscut relationship,it can be deduced that the metagabbro vein,together with the peridotite in Yushugou granulite-peridotite complex has experienced similar high-temperature granulite facies *** zircon chronological data shows that the protolith age of the metagabbro vein is 400.5±6.2 Ma,reflecting Devonian magmatism event and the granulite facies metamorphism occurred at^270 Ma which may be related to the post-collisional magmatism.

BACKGROUND The vein of Galen aneurismal malformations(VGAM) are rare arteriovenous malformations of the embryonic choroid plexus. They represent about 30% of paediatric neurovascular disorders and show diverse characteristics. The VGAM is constituted by a midline dilated venous structure that receives blood from abnormal macroscopic or microscopic arteriovenous shunting vessels. Two types of VGAM exist, the choroidal and the mural. The treatment represents a challenge with the therapeutic objective to preserve the normal brain development without creating new neurological *** SUMMARY We present three cases of VGAM in the early postnatal period and their treatment. All patents were treated with the endovascular technique, which was successful. According to our experience, the endovascular technique is a safe and efficient mode of VGAM *** The objective of treatment aims to child's normal neurological development. A proper selection of patients and a thorough diagnostic workup is of vital importance. When the endovascular treatment is performed, the primary aim is not a complete VGAM exclusion at one time, which could produce a sudden reversal of blood flow with consequent venous infarction and ischemia. The aim is therefore to occlude as much of the VGAM as needed to relieve the congestive cardiac failure, to gain time and to create the conditions for a normal maturation of the neurovascular system. With the use of endovascular techniques, which represent not only the first choice of treatment but also the only safe therapeutic modality, the natural history of VGAM and their risks may be avoided safely.

Background: The associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy(ALPPS) was first performed in 2007. The critical patient selection, timing to perform the second stage operation, and minimally invasive technique are three key factors for patient outcomes. The aim of this review is to summarize published data on these three aspects. Data sources: Studies were identified by searching Pub Med for articles published from January 2007 to October 2018, using the keywords “associating liver partition and portal vein ligation for staged hepatectomy” or “ALPPS” or “in situ split”. Studies on colorectal liver metastasis(CRLM), perihilar cholangiocarcinoma(PHC), and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) indicated for ALPPS, cutoff values to determine the timing of stage 2, as well as modifications of ALPPS were included. Results: The mortality of ALPPS for CRLM is declining, for PHC is high. In patients with HCC, essential hypertrophy makes the ALPPS safer. However, the degrees of fibrosis affect the hypertrophy. The future liver remnant volume is still the gold standard to start the second stage. Hepatobiliary scintigraphy plays an important role in quantitatively assessing liver function, whereas cutoff values need to be further calibrated. Less-invasive ALPPS modifications have increased and led to a decreased mortality. Conclusions: ALLPS improved the CRLM outcomes;ALPPS is feasible in patients with PHC after failure of portal vein embolization;ALPPS may be an option for HCC patients with major vascular invasion and thrombosis. The simplified and less-invasive ALPPS is the trend.

Finger vein image retrieval is a biometric identification technology that has recently attracted a lot of attention. It has the potential to reduce the search space and has attracted a considerable amount of research effort recently. It is a challenging problem owing to the large number of images in biometric databases and the lack of efficient retrieval schemes. We apply a hierarchical vocabulary tree modelbased image retrieval approach because of its good scalability and high efficiency. However, there is a large accumulative quantization error in the vocabulary tree (VT) model that may degrade the retrieval precision. To solve this problem, we improve the vector quantization coding in the VT model by introducing a non-negative locality-constrained constraint: the non-negative locality-constrained vocabulary tree-based image retrieval model. The proposed method can effectively improve coding performanee and the discriminative power of local features. Extensive experiments on a large fused finger vein database demonstrate the superiority of our encoding method. Experimental results also show that our retrieval strategy achieves better performanee than other state-of-theart methods, while maintaining low time complexity.

AIM:To explore the prevalence of local and genetic thrombophilic disorders as risk factors for portal vein thrombosis (PVT) in our series,the largest ever published in pediatric literature. METHODS:We conducted a case-control study enrolling 31 children with PVT and 26 age-matched controls. All were screened for thrombophilia,including genetic disorders,protein C,protein S and homocysteine deficiencies. All coagulation parameters were studied at least 3 mo after the diagnosis of portal vein ***:In our study we showed that most pediatric patients with PVT have local prothrombotic risk factors,which are probably the most important factors leading to PVT. However,there is a clear association between the presence of prothrombotic disorders and PVT,suggesting that these increase the risk of thrombosis in patients with local factors such as perinatal umbilical vein catheterization or sepsis. CONCLUSION:Patients with PVT should be screened for inherited prothrombotic disorders regardless of a history of an obvious local risk factor.

Involvement of heme oxygenase-1 induction in anti-vascular inflammation effects of Xanthoceras sorbifolia in human umbilical vein endothelial cells

OBJECTIVE: To define the effects of Xanthoceras sorbifolia(EXS) on vascular inflammation and the mechanisms in endothelial ***: Vascular protective effects of an ethanol extract of seeds from EXS(1-50 μg/mL) against tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)-induced vascularinflammation were examined in human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs).RESULTS: EXS significantly decreased TNF-α-induced expression of cell adhesion molecules, such as intracellular adhesion molecule-1, vascular cell adhesion molecule-1, and endothelial cell selectin,in a dose-dependent manner. Pre-treatment with EXS significantly inhibited translocation and transcriptional activity of nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) increased by TNF-α. EXS also significantly inhibited formation of intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS). Moreover, the vascular protective effects of EXS were linked to up-regulation of heme oxygenase-1(HO-1) and nuclear factor E2-related factor-2(Nrf-2) expression. EXS-induced HO-1 expression was significantly decreased in SnPP(HO-1 inhibitor)-and HO-1 siRNA-treated cells, whereas an increase was found in cobalt protoporphyrin IX(CoPP)(HO-1 inducer)-treated cells. In addition, pretreatment with EXS increased HO-1 and Nrf-2 expression under TNF-α stimulation with or without N-acetyl-L-cysteine. Furthermore, the inhibitory effects of EXS on TNF-α-induced vascular inflammation were partially reversed in SnPP-and of HO-1siRNA-treated cells but increased by ***: These results suggest that EXS may have important implications for prevention of vascular complications associated with vascular inflammation by inhibition of the NF-κB/ROS pathway and activation of the Nrf-2/HO-1 pathway.
