Effect of variable blank holder force on Rectangular Box Drawing Process of Hot-galvanized Sheet Steel

At first, a series of finite element method （FEM） simulation tests were used to find the critical forming conditions of hot-galvanized sheet steel during the rectangular box drawing processing when constant blank holder forces were applied. According the test results, the reasonable alteration scope of initial variable blank holder force （VBHF） was as 1.9-2.3 T. Then, based on the test productions of blank holder force, 12 typical VBHF curves were applied to perform the simulation tests by the simulation software of DYNAFORM. The simulation test results showed that VBHF had great effects on drawing formability of hot-galvanized sheet steel during the rectangular box drawing. However, the different VBHF curves were applied to control the whole drawing and it would get great different effects. At the same tine, the VBHF had great effects on the maximum thick thinning ratio, but had little effect on the maximum thick incrassation ratio. So, reasonable application of the VBHF would greatly decrease the fractures. When the VBHF profile is taken as curve L, the best effect of drawing formability could be obtained. When curve I is used, contrary effect could be gotten. The other types of curves would cause effects between above two types of VBHF curves. Finally, the actual tests were applied to check the validity of the FEM simulation tests. The results show that the FEM simulation tests are good ways for predicting and optimizing the VBHF.

Electromagnetic blank holder（EBH） is a novel technology of deep drawing for sheet metal. The electromagnetic control of variable blank holder force（BHF） is studied in this paper. First, mathematical model of deep drawing process of cylindrical cup is established. The mathematical relationship between flange radius and deep drawing height in deep drawing process of cylindrical cup is analyzed. The reasonable range of BHF is calculated theoretically. Then, principle of EBH device is introduced, and its simulation model is built. The EBH control system is designed. The co-simulation method are used for verify the feasibility of system. Finally, simulation results of EBH control system are analyzed which include variable blank holder force, distribution of magnetic field, and electromagnetic force. The simulation results show that the distribution of magnetic field and electromagnetic force can meet the requirements of BHF distribution. The performance of the EBH control system is also good. The research results have a good role in promoting the development of electromagnetic blank holder control technology.

A process of warm deep drawing of magnesium alloy with variable blank holder force has been presented in this study. A hydraulic press that can realize adjustable blank holder forces was developed and its working principle and control system introduced. A warm deep drawing mould was fixed and warm deep drawing experiments are conducted on the hydraulic press. Different variation schemes of the blank holder force with the stroke of the punch was tested, and compared with experiment results. The experimental results show that adopting the variable blank holder force technique can remarkably improve the forming performance and decrease the reduction ratio of thickness from 15.21% to 12.35%. It is further demonstrated that the suitable blank holder force variation scheme is an inverted V curve with the punch stroke.

A VBHF(variable blank holder force) optimization strategy was employed to determine the optimal time-variable and spatial-variable BHF trajectories,aiming at improving the formability of automobile panels with aluminum alloy *** strategy was implemented based on adaptive simulation to calculate the critical wrinkling BHF for each segmented binder of the Numisheet' 05 deck lid in a single round of *** thickness comparison of the stamped part under optimal VBHF and constant BHF shows that the variance of the four sections is decreased by 70%,44%,64% and 61%,respectively,which indicates significant improvement in thickness distribution and variation *** investigation through strain path comparison reveals the fundamental reason of formability *** study proves the applicability of the new VBHF optimization strategy to complex parts with aluminum alloy sheet.

The variable blank holder force（VBHF） deep-drawing process of Al sheet is studied by the finite element method,and based on the VBHF a new technique of variable punch velocity（VPV） is *** simulation indicates that this new servo-flexible stamping can improve the deep drawability of Al sheet *** limited drawing ratio（LDR） of Al circular cup is improved from1.48 to 1.60,and the height Al square cup is improved from 19.8 to ***,the Al hood of one car of drawing process is simulated by the new technique,and results show that the deepness of Al hood is improved by about 30%.

The advanced high strength steel B pillar was designed to be a tailored blank component which combines tailor welded blanks with tailor rolled blanks,and the formability of the B pillar was studied through the finite element *** new servoflexible stamping can obviously improve the deep drawability of advance high strength steel B pillar,and improve the deepness of B pillar by about 18%.Furthennore,the variable blank holder force curves were optimized,based on the plastic theory and energy method.
