This paper is devoted to investigating the problems of the variable structure control and optimization for a class of time delay systems,which contain matched uncertainty and unmatched uncertainty,time-varying delay in state of ***,some special transformation is made for the considered system to obtain an equivalent system.A sliding surface is designed to ensure the behavior of system in the sliding mode exhibit desired ***,it is concentrated on the optimization problem for the bounds of unmatched nonlinearity and designed gains,which guarantees the quadratic stability of the sliding *** inequality amplifying techniques are developed for the good theoretical ***,the efficient variable structure control is designed to drive the considered system state to the sliding surface and maintain a sliding motion on it ***,the effectiveness of the proposed variable structure control is illustrated through an numerical example.

In this paper, variable structure control of multi delay linear systems by the dynamic compensator approach is *** dynamic compensators being introduced, a type of simple sliding modes are obtained and the stability of the sliding modes is investigated.A delay variable structure control scheme for the time invariant linear system =Ax+Bu is proposed, which is simple and applicable for engineering practice.

This paper is concerned with the variable structure control problems for Markovian jump T-S fuzzy descriptor systems with mode-dependent derivative-term coefficient.A new integral sliding mode control strategy is firstly proposed for Markovian jump T-S fuzzy descriptor systems with mode-dependent derivative-term *** is shown that although the state variables of the Markovian jump T-S fuzzy descriptor systems are discontinuous at the switching instant,the switching function is continuous all the *** a variable structure control method without sliding motion is provided which is regarded as an alternative way to complement the existing sliding mode control ***,an example is given to verify the proposed methods in this paper.

The mathematical model of a transport aircraft would be subjected to a sudden change when heavy cargo is dropped off in airdropping, which exerts serious influences upon the safety of the aircraft. A variable structure controller is specially designed for handling the airdrop process. The nonlinear system is linearized by input-output feedback linearization using differential geometry theories. On this basis, an inner loop system for velocity and attitude tracking control is designed by using the exponentially approaching rule of the variable structure theory. The whole flight control system is integrated with the outer loop flight altitude control. Digital simulation evidences the applicability of the system to potentially catastrophic course in airdropping heavy cargo and provides robustness against system parameter perturbation.

The problem of adaptive fuzzy control for a class of large-scale, time-delayed systems with unknown nonlinear dead-zone is discussed here. Based on the principle of variable structure control, a design scheme of adaptive, decentralized, variable structure control is proposed. The approach removes the conditions that the dead-zone slopes and boundaries are equal and symmetric, respectively. In addition, it does not require that the assumptions that all parameters of the nonlinear dead-zone model and the lumped uncertainty are known constants. The adaptive compensation terms of the approximation errors axe adopted to minimize the influence of modeling errors and parameter estimation errors. By theoretical analysis, the closed-loop control system is proved to be semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded, with tracking errors converging to zero. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.

This paper describes the important application of variable structure control (VSC) theory on induction motor (IM) decoupling control system. A design scheme using singular system variable structure control method for a decoupling IM system is presented. The scheme is shown to be robust to parametric variations and external disturbances. An adaptive variable structure control method based on backstepping is proposed for the attitude maneuver problem of rigid spacecraft with reaction wheel dynamics in the presence of uncertain inertia matrix and external disturbances. The proposed control approach is a combination of the backstepping and the adaptive variable structure control. The cascaded structure of the attitude maneuver control system with reaction wheel dynamics gives the advantage for applying the backstepping method to construct Lyapunov functions. The robust stability to external disturbances and parametric uncertainty is guaranteed by the adaptive variable structure control. To validate the proposed control algorithm, numerical simulations using the proposed approach are performed for the attitude maneuver mission of rigid spacecraft with a configuration consisting of four reaction wheels for actuator and three magnetorquers for momentum unloading. Simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.

In this paper, adaptive variable structure neural control is presented for a class of uncertain multi-input multi-output （MIMO） nonlinear systems with state time-varying delays and unknown nonlinear dead-zones. The unknown time-varying delay uncer- tainties are compensated for using appropriate Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals in the design. The approach removes the assumption of linear function outside the deadband without necessarily constructing a dead-zone inverse as an added contribution. By utilizing the integral-type Lyapunov function and introducing an adaptive compensation term for the upper bound of the residual and optimal approximation error as well as the dead-zone disturbance, the closed-loop control system is proved to be semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded. In addition, a modified adaptive control algorithm is given in order to avoid the high-frequency chattering phenomenon. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.
