Ghrelin, a novel growth hormone-releasing peptide, was originally isolated from rat and human stomach. Ghrelin has been known to increase the secretion of growth hormone (GH), food intake, and body weight gain when administered peripherally or centrally. Ghrelin is also known to stimulate the gastric motility and the secretion of gastric acid. In the previous studies, the action of ghrelin on acid secretion was shown to be as strong as that of histamine and gastrin in in-vivo experiment. In the studies, the mechanism for the action of ghrelin was also investigated. It was shown that vagotomy completely inhibited the action of ghrelin on the secretion of gastric acid suggesting that vagal nerve is involved in the mechanism for the action of ghrelin on acid secretion. As famotidine did not inhibit ghrelin-in-duced acid secretion in the study by Masuda et al, they concluded that histamine was not involved in the action of ghrelin on acid secretion. However, we have shown that famotidine completely inhibited ghrelin-induced acid secretion and histidine decarboxylase (HDC) mRNA was increased in gastric mucosa by ghrelin injection which is inhibited by vagotomy Our results indicate that histamine is involved in the action of ghrelin on acid secretion. Furthermore synergistic action of gastrin and ghrelin on gastric acid secretion was shown. Although gastrin has important roles in postprandial secretion of gastric acid, ghrelin may be related to acid secretion during fasting period or at night. However, further studies are needed to elucidate the physiological role of ghrelin in acid secretion.

The effects of vagal and sympathetic nerves on the transmembranepotentials of cardiac cells of toad were observed by means of *** vagal nerve was stimulated there would be an increase in restingpotential and acceleration in repolarization of action potential(AP).However,ifatropine was used before stimulation the above-mentioned phenomena *** the sympathetic nerve was stimulated the AP amplitudeincreased,but resting potential(RP)remained the *** increase of APresulted from the increases of *** the sympathetic nerve wasstimulated although the heart rate increased and the duration of AP wasshortened,the plateau phase of AP was *** results suggest that theeffects of vagal and sympathetic nerves on the transmembrane potential of cardiacventricular cells are coordinated and the normal characteritics of transmembranepotential are maintained by both the vagal and sympathetic nerves.

＜正＞C75,anα-methylene-γ-butyrolactone,is a synthetic inhibitor of fatty acid synthase（FAS）,based on the known mechanism of action of cerulenin and the theoretical reaction intermediates of theβ-ketoacyl synthase moiety of FAS.C75 treatment inhibited food intake and decreased body weight in *** evidence has accumulated to indicate that feeding behavior and fasted（inter-digestive） and the physiological fed（postprandial） motor activities in the digestive tracts are tightly *** have previously shown that centrally administered C75 delayed gastric emptying and gastrointestinal *** the present study,we investigated the effects of centrally administered C75 on gastric *** motility was monitored in freely moving conscious rats in the physiological fasted and fed states by using a miniature strain gauge transducer implanted in the stomach *** results indicated that when *** of C75 in the fasted state,the fasted patterns of gastric motility were disrupted and the fed-like motor patterns appeared,when *** of C75（10,32 and 56μg） was given to animals in the fed state,the%MI of the gastric contraction waves was significantly reduced in a dose-dependent *** addition,involvement of the NPY and vagal nerve in mediating the action of C75 was examined in the present *** showed that NPY and truncal vagotomy blocked the effects of *** of C75 on gastric motility,suggesting that the NPY and vagal pathway may mediate the action of centrally administered C75 on gastric *** conclusion,our findings indicate that centrally administration of C75 disrupted fasted motor patterns and inhibited fed motor activity in the antrum and that NPY and vagal nerve might be involved in these effects of C75 on gastric motility.
