Robust user equilibrium model based on cumulative prospect theory under distribution-free travel time

The assumption widely used in the user equilibrium model for stochastic network was that the probability distributions of the travel time were known explicitly by travelers. However, this distribution may be unavailable in reality. By relaxing the restrictive assumption, a robust user equilibrium model based on cumulative prospect theory under distribution-free travel time was presented. In the absence of the cumulative distribution function of the travel time, the exact cumulative prospect value(CPV) for each route cannot be obtained. However, the upper and lower bounds on the CPV can be calculated by probability *** were assumed to choose the routes with the best worst-case CPVs. The proposed model was formulated as a variational inequality problem and solved via a heuristic solution algorithm. A numerical example was also provided to illustrate the application of the proposed model and the efficiency of the solution algorithm.

For traffic networks with fixed demand and heterogeneous users differentiated by value of time, when there exists nonlinear relationship between travel cost and travel time, the time-based and cost-based system optimization models and the user equilibrium models are formulated, respectively. If the system performance and user equilibrium conditions are both measured by cost, it is shown that system optimum can be decentralized into multi-class user equilibrium by anonymously charging users on all links. It is further proved that such tolling scheme doesn’t exist if the system performance and the users’ decision criteria are based on time unit.

The rapidly increasing penetration of electric vehicles(EVs) in modern metropolises has been witnessed during the past decade, inspired by financial subsidies as well as public awareness of climate change and environment pro-tection. Integrating charging facilities, especially highpower chargers in fast charging stations, into power distribution systems remarkably alters the traditional load flow pattern, and thus imposes great challenges on the operation of distribution network in which controllable resources are rare. On the other hand, provided with appropriate incentives, the energy storage capability of electric vehicle offers a unique opportunity to facilitate the integration of distributed wind and solar power generation into power distribution system. The above trends call for thorough investigation and research on the interdependence between transportation system and power distribution system. This paper conducts a comprehensive survey on this line of research. The basic models of transportation system and power distribution system are introduced,especially the user equilibrium model, which describes the vehicular flow on each road segment and is not familiar to the readers in power system community. The modelling of interdependence across the two systems is *** into account such interdependence, applications ranging from long-term planning to short-term operation are reviewed with emphasis on comparing the description of traffic-power interdependence. Finally, an outlook of prospective directions and key technologies in future research is summarized.

Considering such a fact that travellers dynamically adjust their routes and the resultant link traffic flows in a network evolve over time, this paper proposes a dynamical evolutionary model of the traffic assignment problem with endogenous origin-destination （OD） demands. The model＇s stability is analysed and the resultant user equilibrium （UE） state is shown to be stable under certain conditions. Numerical results in a grid network indicate that the model can generate convergent flow patterns and finally terminates at the UE state. Impacts by the parameters associated with OD demand function and link cost function are also investigated.

Road pricing policies have two equally important objectives that have to be considered： the optimal use of the road network and the fiscal sustainability for the management of the network. The aim of this work is to examine the effects on these two objectives of a recent pricing policy implemented in Japan＇s expressway networks. Recently the Nippon （Japan） Expressway Companies （NEXCO, operators of Japan＇s nation wide expressway network） have implemented several toll discount policies for users equipped with electronic toll collectors （ETCs）. One of the policies is the commuter discount policy that discounts 50% for a journey on the NEXCO expressway no longer than 100 km during the commuting peak hours. This paper examines its effect on congestion reduction in the road network of Nagoya area and its influence on the use of expressways operated by another major local public expressway company in Nagoya. The congestion easing effect of this policy is compared with a potential marginal cost pricing scheme. These observations suggest that policy coordination regarding toll levels is needed for expressway corporations and transportation authorities for improving transportation efficiency of utilization of the whole network.

The network design problem （NDP） is one of the most difficult and challenging problems in transportation. Traditional NDP models are often posed as a deterministic bilevel program assuming that all relevant inputs are known with certainty. This paper presents three stochastic models for designing transportation networks with demand uncertainty. These three stochastic NDP models were formulated as the expected value model, chance-constrained model, and dependent-chance model in a bilevel programming framework using different criteria to hedge against demand uncertainty. Solution procedures based on the traffic assignment algorithm, genetic algorithm, and Monte-Carlo simulations were developed to solve these stochastic NDP models. The nonlinear and nonconvex nature of the bilevel program was handled by the genetic algorithm and traffic assignment algorithm, whereas the stochastic nature was addressed through simulations. Numerical experiments were conducted to evaluate the applicability of the stochastic NDP models and the solution procedure. Results from the three experiments show that the solution procedures are quite robust to different parameter settings.

在早高峰期间，家庭通勤者需要同时考虑家长和孩子双方的出行成本来制订出行计划。校车在各大城市的普及，改变了以往家长开车送孩子上学然后再去工作地点的单一出行方式。基于此，本文研究了在校车影响下的早高峰个人与家庭混合出行行为。首先，在校车、私家车双交通模式下，本文构建了个人与家庭混合出行的用户均衡模型，分别研究了个人通勤者和家庭通勤者的出发时间选择行为以及家庭通勤者的出行方式选择行为。其次，在均衡模型的基础上分别分析了校车费用、学校与工作开始时间差对个人和家庭两类通勤者出行成本的影响。然后，提出了相应的错峰调控策略来最小化交通系统总出行成本，从而提高交通系统的运行效率。最后，通过数值算例对本文所提出的模型和结论进行了验证。

A lane exclusively for transit is one measure to reduce urban congestion and intelligent transportation systems (ITSs) are expected to make this policy more effective. However, the advantage may be limited if a transit agency does not provide sufficient vehicles. This study evaluates the effect of transit capacity on a dedicated transit lane policy by examining the morning commute problem, by defining user equilibrium and system optimisation considering transit capacity. It was confirmed that reduced transit capacity under user equilibrium smoothly increases the transit cost per person, which decreases the duration period of the dedicated transit lane and increases the number of early and delayed car commuters. However, the effect of reducing transit capacity under a system optimum depends on the initial solution of the system optimum.
