The influence of a surfactant on the two-phase flow regime and the pressure drop in upward inclined pipes is investigated for various gas/liquid flow *** air/water and air/100 ppm sodium dodecyl sulphate aqueous solution are used as the working *** influence of the surfactant on the two-phase flow regime in upward inclined pipes is investigated using the electrical tomographic *** 0o,2.5o and 5o pipe inclinations,the surfactant has obvious effect on the transition from the stratified wavy flow to the annular flow,and the range of the stratified smooth flow regime is also extended to higher gas *** 10o pipe inclination,no stratified flow regime is observed in the air/water *** the air/surfactant solution system,however,the stratified flow regime can be found in the range of *** all inclination angles,the changes of the pressure gradient characteristics are accompanied with the flow pattern *** surfactant in a two-phase flow would reduce the pressure gradient significantly in the slug flow and annular flow *** the annular flow regime,the pressure gradient gradually becomes free of the influence of the upward inclined angle,and is only dependent on the property of the two-phase flow.

The oil / water two-phase flow inside T-junctions was numerically simulated with a 3-D two-fluid model, and the turbulence was described using the mixture k- ε model. Some experiments of oil / water flow inside a single T-junction were conducted in the laboratory. The results show that the separating performance of T-junction largely depends on the inlet volumetric fraction and flow patterns. A reasonable agreement is reached between the numerical simulation and the experiments for both the oil fraction distribution and the separation efficiency.

Numerical simulations of evolution characteristics of slug flow across a 90°pipe bend have been carried out to study the fluid−structure interaction response induced by internal slug *** two-phase flow patterns and turbulence were modelled by using the volume of fluid(VOF)model and the Realizable k−εturbulence model ***,validation of the CFD model was carried out and the desirable results were *** different flow patterns and the time-average mean void fraction was coincident with the reported experimental *** of different cases of slug flow have been carried out to show the effects of superficial gas and liquid velocity on the evolution characteristics of slug ***,a one-way coupled fluid-structure interaction framework was established to investigate the slug flow interaction with a 90°pipe bend under various superficial liquid and gas *** was found that the maximum total deformation and equivalent stress increased with the increasing superficial gas velocity,while decreased with the increasing superficial liquid *** addition,the total deformation and equivalent stress has obvious periodic ***,the distribution position of maximum deformation and stress was related to the evolution of slug *** the increasing superficial gas velocity,the maximum total deformation was mainly located at the 90°pipe *** as the superficial liquid velocity increases,the maximum total deformation was mainly located in the horizontal pipe ***,the slug flow with higher superficial gas velocity will induce more serious cyclical impact on the 90°pipe bend.

Low concentration sediment-laden flow is usually involved in water conservancy, environmental protection, navigation and so on. In this article, a mathematical model for low-concentration sediment-laden flow was suggested based on the two-phase flow theory, and a solving scheme for the mathematical model in curvilinear grids was worked out. The observed data in the Zhang River in China was used for the ver/fication of the model, and the calculated results of the water level, velocity and river bed deformation are in agreement with the observed ones.

Electrical capacitance tomography(ECT)has been applied to two-phase flow measurement in recent *** reconstruction algorithms play an important role in the successful applications of *** solve the ill-posed and nonlinear inverse problem of ECT image reconstruction,a new ECT image reconstruction method based on fast linearized alternating direction method of multipliers(FLADMM)is proposed in this *** the basis of theoretical analysis of compressed sensing(CS),the data acquisition of ECT is regarded as a linear measurement process of permittivity distribution signal of pipe section.A new measurement matrix is designed and L1 regularization method is used to convert ECT inverse problem to a convex relaxation problem which contains prior knowledge.A new fast alternating direction method of multipliers which contained linearized idea is employed to minimize the objective *** data and experimental results indicate that compared with other methods,the quality and speed of reconstructed images are markedly ***,the dynamic experimental results indicate that the proposed algorithm can ful fill the real-time requirement of ECT systems in the application.

A general method has been developed for analyzing two-phase flow pressure buildup data from a well located in a system of both production and injection wells completed in an infinite muhiwell reservoir. The analysis technique assumes that the tested well has established its own drainage area before shut-in and a linear reservoir pressure trend dominates the well pressure behavior at the instant of shut-in. And for the two-phase flow problems the horizontal saturation gradients are assumed to be negligible. The entire pressure rcsponse, whether or not conventional semilog straight lines exist, can be analyzed and the Injection-Production Ratio （IPR）, the total fluid （oil/water） mobility, the average drainage-area pressure, and also the skin factor can be calculated much easily. The validity and applicability of the method are demonstrated by a field example. The technique by using the type curves for analyzing the pressure-buildup data is also presented here.

Environmentally friendly nature of CO_(2),associated with its safety and high efficiency,has made it a widely used working fluid in heat *** CO_(2)has strange thermophysical features,specific models are required to estimate its two-phase characteristics,particularly frictional pressure drop(FPD).Herein,a widespread dataset,comprising 1195 experimental samples for two-phase FPD of CO_(2)was adopted from 10 sources to fulfill this *** literature correlations failed to provide satisfactory precisions and exhibited the average absolute relative errors(AAREs)between 29.29% and 67.69% from the analyzed *** inspiring the theoretical method of Lockhart and Martinelli,three intelligent FPD models were presented,among which the Gaussian process regression approach surpassed the others with AARE and R^(2)values of 5.48% and 98.80%,respectively in the test stage.A novel simple correlation was also derived based on the least square fitting method,which yielded opportune predictions with AARE of 19.76% for all *** truthfulness of the newly proposed models was assessed through a variety of statistical and visual analyses,and the results affirmed their high reliability over a broad range of conditions,channel sizes and flow ***,the novel models performed favorably in describing the physical attitudes corresponding to two-phase FPD of CO_(2).Eventually,the importance of operating factors in controlling the FPD was discussed through a sensitivity analysis.

A first experimental study on two-phase how patterns at a long-term, steady microgravity condition was conducted on board the Russian Space Station 'MIR' in August 1999. Carbogal and air are used as the liquid and the gas phase, respectively. Bubble, slug, slug-annular transitional, and annular hows are observed. A new region of annular how with lower liquid superficial velocity is discovered, and the region of the slug-annular transitional flow is wider than that observed by experiments on board the parabolic aircraft. The main patterns are bubble, slug-annular transitional and annular flows based on the experiments on board MIR space station. Some influences on the two-phase how patterns in the present experiments are discussed.
