Solid oxide fuel cells(SOFCs)have attracted a great deal of interest because they have the highest efficiency without using any noble metal as catalysts among all the fuel cell technologies.However,traditional SOFCs suffer from having a higher volume,current leakage,complex connections,and difficulty in gas sealing.To solve these problems,Rolls-Royce has fabricated a simple design by stacking cells in series on an insulating porous support,resulting in the tubular segmented-in-series solid oxide fuel cells(SIS-SOFCs),which achieved higher output voltage.This work systematically reviews recent advances in the structures,preparation methods,perform-ances,and stability of tubular SIS-SOFCs in experimental and numerical studies.Finally,the challenges and future development of tubular SIS-SOFCs are also discussed.The findings of this work can help guide the direction and inspire innovation of future development in this field.

Preventive effect of Shenkang injection against high glucose-induced senescence of renal tubular cells

Shenkang injection (SKI) is a classic prescription composed of Radix Astragali, rhubarb, Astragalus, Safflower, and Salvia. This treatment was approved by the State Food and Drug Administration of China in 1999 for treatment of chronic kidney diseases based on good efficacy and safety. This study aimed to investigate the protective effect of SKI against high glucose (HG)-induced renal tubular cell senescence and its underlying mechanism. Primary renal proximal tubule epithelial cells were cultured in (1) control medium (control group), medium containing 5 mmol/L glucose;(2) mannitol medium (mannitol group), medium containing 5 mmol/L glucose, and 25 mmol/L mannitol;(3) HG medium (HG group) containing 30 mmol/L glucose;(4) SKI treatment at high (200 mg/L), medium (100 mg/L), or low (50 mg/L) concentration in HG medium (HG+ SKI group);or (5) 200 mg/L SKI treatment in control medium (control+ SKI group) for 72 h. HG-induced senescent cells showed the emergence of senescence associated heterochromatin foci, up-regulation of P16INK4 and cyclin D1, increased senescence-associated β-galactosidase activity, and elevated expression of membrane decoy receptor 2. SKI treatment potently prevented these changes in a dose-independent manner. SKI treatment prevented HG-induced up-regulation of pro-senescence molecule mammalian target of rapamycin and p66Shc and down-regulation of anti-senescence molecules klotho, sirt1, and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-g in renal tubular epithelial cells. SKI may be a novel strategy for protecting against HG-induced renal tubular cell senescence in treatment of diabetic nephropathy.

The structural behavior of prestressed high strength steel(HSS)tubular members is investigated through the execution of advanced finite element modeling.Numerical models are developed and validated against published experimental data on HSS tubular members subjected to different levels of initial prestress and loaded either in tension or compression.The effect of the presence or absence of grouting on the strength and ductility of the members is also considered.To numerically replicate the structural response recorded in the tests,some key modeling features including the employed numerical solver,the adopted material models and the element types warrant careful consideration.Upon developing of the finite element models,the numerically generated ultimate loads,the corresponding failure modes and the full load-deformation curves are compared to the experimental ones,indicating a successful validation.As anticipated,prestressing enhances the load-bearing capacity for the tensile members,whereas it is detrimental for the compressive ones.A series of parametric studies is performed to assess the influence of key factors on the structural response of prestressed HSS members and the obtained results are discussed.Design guidance for tensile and compressive prestressed tubular members is also provided.

OBJECTIVE: To examine changes in the morphology and physiological functions of human proximal tubular epithelial cells (HK-2 cells) caused by total Dahuang (Radix Et Rhizoma Rhei Palmati) anthraquinones (TDA) and emodin. METHODS: HK-2 cells were cultured on polycarbonate (PCF) membranes to form a complete monolayer of cells. A fluorescein isothiocyanate- dextran (FITC) permeability assay was conducted and secretion of γ-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase (NAG) and kidney injury molecule 1 (KIM-1) was examined. The reabsorption of glucose and the excretion of para-aminohippuric acid (PAH) by HK-2 cells were also examined. The morphology of HK-2 cells was observed using optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The cytoskeleton of HK-2 cells was observed under a fluorescence microscope. RESULTS: Compared with the results for the dimethyl sulfoxide group, treatment of cells with TDA and emodin showed statistically significant differences in the FITC leakage rate, the apical / basolateral ratio of LDH and GGT, and the secretion of GGT, LDH, NAG and KIM-1. At 64 μg/mL, TDA markedly inhibited blood glucose reabsorption and remarkably suppressed PAH excretion by HK-2 cells. Both TDA and emodin caused various degrees of damage to the morphology and cytoskeleton of HK-2 cells with the degree of damage correlating positively with the dosage of the tested substances.CONCLUSION: Both TDA and emodin caused damage to human renal proximal tubular epithelial cells at certain dosages. At the same dosage, TDA caused more severe damage than emodin to the HK-2 cells.

Turner syndrome (TS) is a female chromosomal disorder caused by the lack of an X chromosome. The loss of this chromosome may result in the deficiency of tumorsuppressive or DNA repair genes, leading to tumorigenesis. Recombinant human growth hormone (GH) has been popularly used for treatment in TS patients for growth promotion. Although treatment with GH has been correlated with precancerous and cancerous lesions in TS children, its associations with gastric or colonic tumors, especially ileal tubular adenomas, have not been reported frequently. We here report a case of a 16-year-old patient with TS and tubular adenoma of the small intestine. Whether the ileal adenoma was caused by TS itself or GH therapy was discussed.

Reinforcement Method of the tubular Joints under Combined Loads Based on ANSYS Software

The jacket offshore platform structures working in the environment are subjected to various external conditions,such as wave loads,wind loads and corrosion of sea water.Therefore,the research on reinforcement of tubular joints has great practical value for the safety of offshore platforms.In this article,the finite element(FE)models of T-type tubular joint(T-joint)and K-type tubular joint(K-joint)are established by ANSYS software.Triangular rib reinforcement and collar plate reinforcement are used to reinforce the tubular joints.The reinforcement effects are assessed through the ultimate bearing capacity,and the influences of parameters of the rib and the collar plate on the ultimate capacity are analyzed.Besides,the effects of the two reinforcement methods are compared under the combined loads,and the results show that the reinforcement of the ribbed plate is more effective in resisting the deformation caused by bending moment,while the reinforcement of the collar plate is more effective to avoid the plastic damage caused by the axial pressure.

Recent years, it has attracted more attentions to increase the porosity and pore size of nanofibrous scaffolds to provide the for the cells to grow into the small-diameter vascular grafts. In this study, a novel bi-layer tubular scaffold with an inner layer and an outer layer was fabricated. The inner layer was random collagen/poly （ L-lactide-co-caprolactone ） I P （ LLA- CL） ] nanofibrous mat fabricated by conventional electrospinning and the outer layer was aligned collagen/P （LLA-CL） nanoyarns prepared by a dynamic liquid dectrospinning method. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） was used to characterize the chemical structure. Scanning electron microscopy （ SEM ） was employed to observe the morphology of the layers and the cross- sectioned bi-layer tubular scaffold. A liquid displacement method was employed to measure the porosities of the inner and outer layers. Stress-strain curves were obtained to evaluate the mechanical properties of the two different layers and the bi-layer membrane. The diameters of the nanofibers and the nanoyarns were （480 ± 197 ） nm and （ 19.66 ± 4.05 ） μm, respectively. The outer layer had a significantly higher porosity and a larger pore size than those of the inner layer. Furthermore, the bi-layer membrane showed a good mechanical property which was suitable as small-diameter vascular graft. The results indicated that the bi-layer tubular scaffold had a great potential application in small vascular tissue engineering.

tubular adenomas, also called “pure adenomas”, are uncommon benign lesions of the breast which is characterized histologically by a circumscribed mass consisting of prominent lobular proliferation and closely packed small ducts with minimal supporting stroma [1] [2]. These uniformly sized ducts are lined by single layers of epithelium and myoepithelium. They mainly appear in young women, rarely occurring in the elderly?[1]?[3]-[5]. tubular adenoma must be differentiated from other benign lesions (fibroadenoma) and from malignant breast cancer (tubular carcinoma). Preoperative diagnosis is often difficult, but the histologic diagnosis of tubular adenoma would be an acceptable diagnosis after needle core biopsy. Both radiologic and cytohistologic examinations performed before surgery may be not diagnostic and surgical excision is necessary in order to reach a precise diagnosis and a definitive treatment. We report a case of tubular adenoma of the breast in a 62-year-old woman preoperatively diagnosed as a breast tubular adenoma by Ultrasuond-guided core biopsy.
