Internet of Things Based Solutions for transport network Vulnerability Assessment in Intelligent transportation Systems

Intelligent transportation System(ITS)is essential for effective identification of vulnerable units in the transport network and its stable operation.Also,it is necessary to establish an urban transport network vulnerability assessment model with solutions based on Internet of Things(IoT).Previous research on vulnerability has no congestion effect on the peak time of urban road network.The cascading failure of links or nodes is presented by IoT monitoring system,which can collect data from a wireless sensor network in the transport environment.The IoT monitoring system collects wireless data via Vehicle-to-Infrastructure(V2I)channels to simulate key segments and their failure probability.Finally,the topological structure vulnerability index and the traffic function vulnerability index of road network are extracted from the vulnerability factors.The two indices are standardized by calculating the relative change rate,and the comprehensive index of the consequence after road network unit is in a failure state.Therefore,by calculating the failure probability of road network unit and comprehensive index of road network unit in failure state,the comprehensive vulnerability of road network can be evaluated by a risk calculation formula.In short,the IoT-based solutions to the new vulnerability assessment can help road network planning and traffic management departments to achieve the ITS goals.

Measuring the spatiotemporal variation and evolution of transport network of China＇s megaregions

Megaregion has become a prominent feature of modern China. Reflecting upon China＇s recent path of transport infrastructure construction, this research examines the spatiotemporal characteristics of transport network development and its accessibility impacts in China＇s ten megaregions from 1982 to 2010. Using historical transport network data and multiple national censuses （1982, 1990, 2000 and 2010）, we computed two levels of indicators of megaregional transport network： megaregion level and county level, and analyzed the intra-megaregion and inter-megaregion disparities of transport network of the ten megaregions of China. transport networks at the megaregion level are measured by three indicators： 1） transport network density; 2） infrastructure endowment per capita; and 3） size of transport network＇s standard ellipse. Two accessibility indicators for measuring transportation network at the county level are calculated： weighted average travel time and potential accessibility. The research results show the following： 1） Road and rail network densities witnessed the greatest growth during the 2000-2010 period, and growth was more significant for railway network. 2） By 2010, average road endowments per capita in inland megaregions became higher than in coastal megaregions, while average rail endowments per capita in coastal megaregions became higher than in inland megaregions. 3） The sizes and directions of the standard deviational ellipses of road and rail network changed continuously during the study period. However the changes of road network ellipses were relatively small, while the changes of railway network ellipses were more significant. 4） Megaregions have all benefited significantly from transportation infrastructure improvement in the past few decades in terms of WATT and potential accessibility, but the three giant megaregions benefited most.

Prediction of the high-quality development level of inbound tourism based on adaptive neural network technology

Visitors abroad come on an inbound tourism (IT) trip. Travelling beyond one’s usual surroundingsfor no more than a year in one go, or no less than tourist culture is considered inboundtourism. A network called adaptive neural networks (ANN) is used in dynamic tourism situations.Many methods are used to make neural networks flexible: weight adjustment, changes in neuronalcharacteristics, and changes in the network’s structural composition. One of the biggestproblems is that cultural clashes lead to many different places, which strain the transportationsystem. IT-ANN tools and technologies are discussed in this study, including the possibilities ofvisitor time and space-relationship data. As a result, inbound tourism doesn’t have to rely onweekend domestic travel because individuals who go on holiday overseas tend to return yearafter year. Finally, the neural network is equipped with a prediction model of travellers’ spatialand temporal distribution.

The aim of this paper is to explore characteristics of overland transport network of tourism cities along the Yangtze River. General characteristics and accessibility of tourism transport network are both investigated. The result shows that a good structure of transport network does not always ensure high accessibility. In order to learn the transport network comprehensively, we propose general characteristics and accessibility should be researched at the same time. Finally, we put forward some specific suggestions for development of tourism transport network in this tourism region.

Autonomous vehicles(AVs)are becoming a reality and may integrate with existing public transport systems to enable the new generation of autonomous public transport.It is vital to understand what are the alternatives for AV integration from different angles such as costs,emissions,and transport performance.With the aim to support AV integration in public transport,this paper takes a typical European city as a case study for analyzing the impacts of different AV integration alternatives.A transport planning model considering AVs is developed and implemented,with a methodology to estimate the costs of the transport network.Traffic simulations are conducted to derive key variables related to AVs.An optimization process is introduced for identifying the optimal network configuration based on a given AV integration strategy,followed by the design of different AV integration scenarios,simulation,and analyses.With the proposed method,a case study is done for the city of Uppsala with presentation of detailed cost results together with key traffic statistics such as mode share.The results show that integrating AVs into public transport does not necessarily improve the overall cost efficiency.Based on the results and considering the long transition period to fully autonomous vehicles,it is recommended that public transport should consider a gradual introduction of AVs with more detailed analysis on different combination and integration alternatives of bus services and AVs.

Significant progress in transport geography in China

transport geography is a major branch of economic geography. It aims to study the spatial pat- tern of transport infrastructure along with the transport network, traffic organization, and pas- senger and cargo flow along with their evolution. Research on modern transport geography be- gan in the early 20th century. During the last 100 years, important advances in transport geogra- phy have been achieved, and development in this field in China has kept pace with the rest of the world. Our predecessors have completed many fruitful and pioneering works in both theory and practice. In the leap-forward development phase of the transport industry over the past thirty years and particularly since the beginning of the 21 st century, many issues related to the transport network in China have become the focal points of research in various fields. Building on this background, researchers at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, studied the theoretical and practical issues of transport geography from the thematic and synthetic perspectives, characterized the spatial regularity of transport infrastructure, and described its relationship with the spatial organization of the social-economic system. Based on the results, the Series of transport Geography and Regional Development was compiled and published.

Features of PBB-TE Architecture and GMPLS Control Technology

Time Division Multiplexing （TDM） transport networks are evolving to packet-oriented, and a variety of carrier-class packet transport technologies have emerged. Provider Backbone Bridge with Traffic Engineering （PBB-TE） is a connection-oriented packet transport technology that provides good scalability and manageability, and guarantees Quality of Service （eoS）. Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching （GMPLS）is a mature transport network control plane technology that supports multiple data planes with different switching granularity. GMPLS-controlled PBB-TE is a promising solution for Packet transport networks （PTN）.

PTN and IP-Based Mobile Backhaul

Packet transport networks （PTN） combine the advantages of packet technology and Synchronous Digital Hierarchy （SDH） technologyl Taking the packet switch as its core, PTN has a high statistical multiplexing ability, which allows it to become a more efficient packet transfer service. Its strong Operation Administration and Maintenance （OAM）--similar to SDH and carrier-class security protection services--ensures efficient mobile backhaul business management ahd transmission quality. MPLS transport Profile （MPLS-TP） packet transport network eliminates connectionless features, such as Penultimate Hop Popping （PHP）, labet merge and Equal＇cost multi-path （ECMP）, and is enhanced in terms of OAM, protection, and synchronization. This is ideally suited for carrying IP-based mobile backhaul services and key account services. PTN, original Multi-Service transport Platform （MSTP）, Metro Ethernet, and IP over Wave Division Multiplexing （WDM）/Optical transport network （OTN） of organic complexes, contribute to an ＂all IP＂ era of telecommunications services.

Analysis of Time Synchronization in PTN

For Time Division Synchronous Code Division Multiple Access （TD-SCDMA） and Time Division Long Term Evolution （TD-LTE） wireless systems, using Global Positioning System （GPS） for time synchronization is problematic. In these wireless systems, GPS is costly, insecure, and difficult to deploy. Nowadays, transportation of high precision time/phase synchronization signals via fiber, and based on Precision Time Protocol （PTP） has become mainstream technology. This paper analyzes the main factors affecting time synchronization in a Packet transport network （PTN） adopting IEEE 1588v2. Laboratory experiments and field tests prove the feasibility of transporting high precision time synchronization signals through a PTN adopting I EEE 1588v2. A comparison is also made between different networking modes for a PTN adopting IEEE 1588v2.

PTN Clock Synchronization Technology and Its Applications

Clock synchronization is an important issue for packet transport networking. Current clock synchronization technologies include synchronous Ethernet, IEEE 1588v2, and network Time Protocol （NTP）. However, individually, these technologies are beset with certain problems. Synchronization Status Message （SSM） algorithm for synchronous Ethernet standards suffers clock ring, and has difficulty tracing and counting nodes. An extended SSM algorithm can improve clock synchronization. NTP is too imprecise to meet the requirements of telecom networks, yet IEEE 1588v2 alone can lead to slow convergence time and influence time delay precision when the network is heavily loaded. ZTE therefore proposes an IEEE 1588v2 solution based on synchronous Ethernet in order to effectively raise the precision of Packet transport network （PTN） time synchronization.
