This paper describes a system of the analysis of the English translation of Hainan dishes name based on translation theoretical basis, including Nida’s functional equivalence, foreignization and domestication. Firstly, some information related the characteristics of Chinese and western dishes name and cuisine Hainan cuisine culture are proposed in this paper. Then the paper states the principles and strategies of Hainan dishes name translation in details. According to the characteristic of Hainan dishes name, the paper divides Hainan dishes name into several types, and specific translation, free translation, literal translation with explanation, literal translation plus free translation and cultural substitution. The translator should choose suitable one according to the cultural facts. At last, it is suggested that cultural awareness regarding translation processes should be promoted in the future so that the service of tourism commodities will be improved and the tourism marker will get lasting prosperity.
