The analytical linear transfer matrices for different quadrupole fringes including quadratic, high order power and exponential models are deduced in this paper. As an example, the transfer matrices of the quadrupole BEPC 105Q are computed for the above three models and compared with hard edge and slice-by-slice models in cases of near 60° and 90° FODO cells. These models’ results are much better than the hard edge model’s, and can meet the requirement of accurate calculation.

A general method based on Riccati transfer matrix is presented to calculate the 2nd order perturbations of eigendatas for one_dimensional structural system with parameter uncertainties. The method is applicable to both real and complex eigendatas of any one_dimensional structural system. The formulas for calculating the sensitivity derivatives of eigendatas based on this method are also presented. The method is applied to the perturbation analysis for the eigendatas of a rotor with gyroscopic moment, and the differences between the perturbation results and the accurate calculating results are small.

In the construction of a drift tube LINAC （DTL）, many factors caused during the fabrication and assembly of the structure cells cause the electric field distribution not as the same as the design curve. To solve this problem, the traditional way is to solve the equation of Slater＇s perturbation theorem to obtain the electrical field variation due to local frequency shift. However, that is very difficult under complicated conditions. Since the field perturbation equation is similar to the particle＇s transverse motion equation, which can be simply solved by using the transfer matrix method, we thus propose to apply a transfer matrix method in tuning the DTL. We demonstrate the availability and advantages of this method with 3D microwave code simulation and the LabVIEW calculation program. After two iterations, the initial error of the electric field of 19.5% has been improved greatly down to 1.3%- -4.5%. This indicates that the transfer matrix method is very useful and convenient for the simplification of tuning procedures.

The internal quantum efficiency(IQE) of the light-emitting diodes can be calculated by the ratio of the external quantum efficiency(EQE) and the light extraction efficiency(LEE).The EQE can be measured experimentally,but the LEE is difficult to calculate due to the complicated LED *** this work,a model was established to calculate the LEE by combining the transfer matrix formalism and an in-plane ray tracing *** the calculated LEE,the IQE was determined and made a good agreement with that obtained by the ABC model and temperature-dependent photoluminescence *** proposed method makes the determination of the IQE more practical and conventional.

The dynamic performance of the coupling shaft system in a carpet tufting machine is the most critical factor affecting the carpet tufting machine's efficiency,and the product quality of the tufted carpet. To determine how to avoid resonance produced by the coupling shaft system's vibration during the weaving process,the dynamic performance of a coupling shaft system in a carpet tufting machine was analyzed. Focusing on a DHGN801D-400 carpet tufting machine,a dynamic model of coupling shaft system was established by utilizing transfer matrix methodology. On the basis of this model,the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the coupling shaft system were obtained through simulations. The correctness of the theoretical model and the dynamic performance of the coupling shaft system were validated by experiments. The first order natural frequency of the coupling shaft system was close to 600 r / min. A conclusion can thus be drawn that operating the carpet tufting machine near this speed should be avoided as much as possible.

Viscoelastic artificial boundaries are widely adopted in numerical simulations of wave propagation *** explicit time-domain integration algorithms are used,the stability condition of the boundary domain is stricter than that of the internal region due to the influence of the damping and stiffness of an viscoelastic artificial *** lack of a clear and practical stability criterion for this problem,however,affects the reasonable selection of an integral time step when using viscoelastic artificial *** this study,we investigate the stability conditions of explicit integration algorithms when using three-dimensional(3D)viscoelastic artificial boundaries through an analysis method based on a local *** boundary subsystems that can represent localized characteristics of a complete numerical model are established,and their analytical stability conditions are derived from and further compared to one *** stability of the complete model is controlled by the corner regions,and thus,the global stability criterion for the numerical model with viscoelastic artificial boundaries is ***,by analyzing the impact of different factors on stability conditions,we recommend a stability coefficient for practically estimating the maximum stable integral time step in the dynamic analysis when using 3D viscoelastic artificial boundaries.

Considering the mechnoelectrical coupling, the localization of SH-waves in disordered periodic layered piezoelectric structures is studied. The waves propagating in directions normal and tangential to the layers are considered. The transfer matrices between two consecutive unit cells are obtained according to the continuity conditions. The expressions of localization factor and localization length in the disordered periodic structures are presented. For the disordered periodic piezoelectric structures, the numerical results of localization factor and localization length are presented and discussed. It can be seen from the results that the frequency passbands and stopbands appear for the ordered periodic structures and the wave localization phenomenon occurs in the disordered periodic ones, and the larger the coefficient of variation is, the greater the degree of wave localization is. The widths of stopbands in the ordered periodic structures are very narrow when the properties of the consecutive piezoelectric materials are similar and the intervals of stopbands become broader when a certain material parameter has large changes. For the wave propagating in the direction normal to the layers the localization length has less dependence on the frequency, but for the wave propagating in the direction tangential to the layers the localization length is strongly dependent on the frequency.
