The supply chain plays an important role in daily life,and its traceability ensures product quality and safety.Therefore,an efficient and reliable solution to improve supply chain traceability is urgently needed.Because of its advantages of being decentralized,tamper-proof,and transparent,the emerging blockchain technology should address the problems of unreliable data and low tracking efficiency in traditional traceability systems.This paper explores blockchain-based supply chain traceability solutions,reviews recent research,and identifies challenges.First,the basics of blockchain are introduced,and the traditional traceability model and stakeholder needs are described.Then,the existing publications and enterprise applications are reviewed and analyzed in detail.Using blockchain is found to bring many benefits.It is also found that the current academic solutions are mostly based on mainstream blockchain platforms and lack specific and comprehensive evaluation.Finally,challenges and future research questions are discussed.Future research could focus on designing targeted consensus mechanisms,designing appropriate access control,the role of regulators in the supply chain,etc.This review shows that blockchain has great potential to address traceability issues,but many challenges remain.

Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)is one of the most promising programs for disease prevention and treatment.Meanwhile,the quality of TCM has garnered much attention.To ensure the quality of TCM,many works are based on the blockchain scheme to design the traceability scheme of TCM to trace its origin.Although these schemes can ensure the integrity,sharability,credibility,and immutability of TCM more effectively,many problems are exposed with the rapid growth of TCM data in blockchains,such as expensive overhead,performance bottlenecks,and the traditional blockchain architecture is unsuitable for TCM data with dynamic growth.Motivated by the aforementioned problems,we propose a novel and lightweight TCM traceability architecture based on the blockchain using sharding(LBS-TCM).Compared to the existing blockchain-based TCM traceability system,our architecture utilizes sharding to develop a novel traceability mechanism that supports more convenient traceability operations for TCM requirements such as uploading,querying,and downloading.Specifically,our architecture consists of a leader shard blockchain layer as its main component,which employs a sharding mechanism to conveniently TCM tracing.Empirical evaluations demonstrated that our architecture showed better performance in many aspects compared to traditional blockchain architectures,such as TCM transaction processing,TCM transaction querying,TCM uploading,etc.In our architecture,tracing TCM has become a very efficient operation,which ensures the quality of TCM and provides great convenience for subsequent TCM analysis and retrospective research.

Traditionally,food sustainability has been considered solely in the stage of agricultural production.However,globalization,the expansion of the food production industry,and the emergence of supermarket chains that control the retail food market require specific significant changes in supply chains in the food sector and,therefore,we need to address the economic,social,and environmental impacts of these events.On the other hand,social selling has increased rapidly in recent years,with a further boom,following current events related to the coronavirus disease(COVID-19).This explosion of social sales,where there are usually no control and regulation entities,can bring problems associated with mishandling items.In this paper,we expose how Blockchain technology supports the traceability of social sales by validating the data provided by the chain participants such as digital health passports,production and transport data in the sale process;the proposed solution generates recommendations on productmanagement considering the agreements previously made by the network actors.To evaluate the proposed smart contracts,we useHyperledger Caliper,obtaining an average throughput of 12.6 transactions per second and an average latency of 0.3 s for the asset update process.We also use a study case to evaluate the proposed project platform’s selling-transport stage using Internet of Things(IoT)sensors.

Trustworthiness and product traceability are essential factors in the apparel industry 4.0 for establishing successful business relationships among stakeholders such as customers,manufacturers,suppliers,and consumers.Each stakeholder has implemented different technology-based systems to record and track product transactions.However,these systems work in silos,and there is no intra-system communication,leading to a lack of complete supply chain traceability for all apparel stakeholders.Moreover,apparel stakeholders are reluctant to share their business information with business competitors;thus,they involve third-party auditors to ensure the quality of the final product.Furthermore,the apparel manufacturing industry faces challenges with counterfeit products,making it difficult for consumers to determine the authenticity of the products.Therefore,in this paper,a trustworthy apparel product traceability framework called ChainApparel is developed using the Internet of Things(IoT)and blockchain to address these challenges of authenticity and traceability of apparel products.Specifically,multiple smart contracts are designed and developed for registration,process execution,audit,fault,and product traceability to authorize,validate,and trace every business transaction among the apparel stakeholders.Further,the real-time performance analysis of ChainApparel is carried out regarding transaction throughput and latency by deploying the compute nodes at different geographical locations using Hyperledger Fabric.The results conclude that ChainApparel accomplished significant performance under diverse workloads while ensuring complete traceability along the complex supply chain of the apparel industry.Thus,the ChainApparel framework helps make the apparel product more trustworthy and transparent in the market while safeguarding trust among the industry stakeholders.

An Anonymous Authentication Scheme with Selective Linkability and Threshold traceability

In order to protect the user's privacy identity,authentication requires anonymous authentication.Anonymous authentication is divided into unconditional anonymous authentication and traceable anonymous authentication.Unconditional anonymous authentication can verify that the user belongs to an anonymous set,but the user's true identity cannot be obtained.However,in some applications,it is necessary to trace the true identity of the user.Therefore,a traceable anonymous authentication scheme is proposed.In order to prevent random tracing,the proposed scheme uses threshold joint tracing.When the identity of the authenticator needs to be traced,the threshold number of members can jointly trace the identity of the authenticator.In some special network applications such as anonymous electronic voting,in order to prevent repeated authentications and repeated elections,it is necessary to verify whether the two authentication signatures are signed by the same user without revealing the true identity of the user.Therefore,the proposed anonymous authentication scheme should have selective linkability.In order to achieve linkable authentication,the linkable tag is embedded by linkable ring signature.Compared with similar schemes through the simulation experiments,the implementation time of the proposed scheme is slightly better than other schemes.

Numerous incidents of food adulteration,fraudulence and foodborne disease outbreaks have shaken the consumer confidence towards the food they consume.These incidents compel the Food Supply Chain(FSC)partners to implement an appropriate traceability system in their respective supply chains to sustain the consumer confidence.The objective of this research is to identify the drivers(major factors)which play a significant role in the successful implementation of the traceability system in FSC and evaluate the causal relationships developing therein.Twelve drivers are identified towards implementation of the traceability system in FSC through literature review and supported with expert’s opinion.The grey-based DEMATEL approach is identified to evaluate these relationships among the drivers according to their net effect.Further,these drivers ranked based on the prominence and effect score.The finding of this research shows that the drivers are clustered into two groups namely:influential(cause)and influenced(effect)group.Four drivers belong to the influential group,and remaining eight are from the influenced group.The most influential driver is the “food safety and quality”which provide a significant effect on the implementation of a traceability system.This research can be a building block to develop a framework to implement the traceability system within FSC and assist the policymakers,and practitioners to identify and evaluate drivers related to the implementation of traceability system in FSC.This paper also provides a useful insight&support to the practitioners and managers in decision making for traceability implementation related issues。

Current methods of image protection based on chaos encryption can only provide security in Human visual system(HVS) level, however they can not provide usage control when the image is opened, printed or exported. To solve this problem, we proposed a novel image digital rights management scheme for Confidential image data security based on encryption and watermark(CIDSEW) with high-level security, usage control and traceability, in which we employed full content image encryption for confidentiality of the image to be protected, and we firstly proposed strict and detailed Usage control(UC) scheme for Confidential image data(CIData) usage password-based authentication, opening times, printing and exporting control. And when the CIData need to delivery or export to other users or domain, we proposed the secure export and misused tracing and detect approach, in which before the ciphered CIData is exported, we decrypted the CIData in a plain mode, and simultaneously we embedded user-identity-related and hardware-related information as robust watermark for traceability and responsibility confirmation. Finally, we evaluated the proposed CIDSEW by groups of variant size image data for security and efficiency,a large amount of groups of experiments manifest the proposed CIDSEW is secure, efficient, pervasive and robust for confident image data protection, usage control and misuse tracing.

With the rapid growth of China＇s economy, rising demand for safety food has been accompanied by frequent food safety scandals. Given that China＇s farming is dominated by millions of small-scale farms, ensuring food safety is a major challenge facing the public and private sectors. The direct farm （DF） program, initiated in 2008, represents one of the government＇s major initiatives to modernize the distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables （FFV） and improve food safety. Under the DF program, participating national and international retailers are expected to establish more direct procurement relationships with farm communities. While it is often claimed that greater participation by retailers in the production and post-harvest processing implied the DF program will lead to improved quality, safety and traceability, systematic evidence remains elu- sive as existing studies are largely narrative, based on case studies, or theoretical inference. Little empirical evidence is available for a broader evaluation of the DF program. This paper aims to fill this gap by assessing the overall performance of a single retailer＇s DF experience with respect to the procurement and food safety of FFV. We use data from a survey of production managers of 35 DF production bases （PBs） spread across 11 provinces, 3 cities and 1 autonomous region in China. The results show a mixture of opportunities and challenges. On one hand, the DF program improves production practices and distribution channels of FFV produced on its PBs, thus facilitating the move of China＇s food system towards improved food safety compliance. On the other hand, significant heterogeneity in the traceability of food and the ability of DF to meet higher safety standards is evident both across major product categories and across household-operated vs. firm-operated PBs. The paper concludes with policy implications.

BACKGROUND Early diagnosis and appropriate antibiotic treatment are important to survival of Listeria monocytogenes(L.monocytogenes)bacteremia.Penicillin tends to be the most commonly used antibiotic.However,there are limited data on antibiotic use in elderly patients with serious complications.We describe the clinical presentation,antibiotic therapy,and traceability of L.monocytogenes in a centenarian with a history of eating frozen food.CASE SUMMARY A 102-year-old man suffered from high fever with chill after hematochezia.Tentative diagnoses were lower gastrointestinal hemorrhage and localized peritonitis.Meropenem and ornidazole were the empirical therapy.The patient did not respond and developed multiple system dysfunction even after teicoplanin was added to the therapy.L.monocytogenes was identified from blood cultures on day 5 of admission.The patient had a history of consuming frozen dumplings.Meropenem/ornidazole/teicoplanin were replaced with meropenem/linezolid.The patient gradually became afebrile.He received meropenem/linezolid for 10 d,and piperacillin/tazobactam was applied as step-down treatment for 2 wk with good clinical results.There was no sign of relapse during follow-up after discharge.L.monocytogenes isolates from the patient and frozen dumplings belonged to different serotypes and sequence types(STs):1/2b and ST5 from the patient and 1/2c and ST9 from the dumplings.CONCLUSION More awareness of listeriosis should be raised.Linezolid might be an option for listeriosis in elderly people with serious complications.
