Fumigant and repellent properties of sesquiterpene-rich essential oil from Teucrium polium subsp,capitatum(L.)

Objective:To test fumigant and repellent properties of sesquiterpene—rich essential oil from Teucrium polium ***(L.).Methods:The fumigant toxicity test was performed at(27±1)℃.(65± 5)%relative humidity,and under darkness condition and 24 h exposure *** chemical composition of the isolated oils was examined by gas chromatography—mass ***:The major compounds were α-cadiuol(46.2%),earyophyllene oxide(25.9%),α muurolol epi(8.1%),cadalene(3.7%) and longiverbenone(2.9%).In all cases,considerable differences in mortality of insect to essential oil vapor were observed in different concentrations and exposure *** maculatus(***)(LC_(50)=148.9μL/L air) was more susceptible to the tested plant product than Teucrium castaneum(***)(LC_(50)=360.2μL/L ain based on LC_(50)*** the present investigation,the concentration of 3μ L /mL acetone showed 60% and 52% repellency against *** and *** adults,***:The results suggests that sesquiterpene—rich essential oils from the tested plant could be used as a potential control agent for stored—product insects.

Human Exposure to Microplastics and Its Associated Health Risks

Microplastics are a globally emerging contaminant in the environment,but little is known about the potential risks of microplastics to human *** exposure routes of microplastics to humans include ingestion,inhalation,and dermal penetration,with the last of these needing equal attention as the other two main *** showed the presence of microplastics in human-derived biological samples(i.e.,excrement,biofluids,and tissues).Most of the toxicological studies of microplastics on humans were based on laboratory rodents and human-derived *** homeostasis,intestinal microflora,and the reproductive,immune,and nervous systems were regarded as targets of *** toxicity of microplastics on microstructures including lysosomes,mitochondria,endoplasmic reticulum,and the nucleus further revealed the potential risks of microplastics on human health at the cellular *** a carrier,microplastics also had the potential to magnify the toxicity of other contaminants in the environment(e.g.,plasticizer,metals,antibiotics,and microorganisms).Studies of microplastics at environmentally realistic conditions are still in their infancy with many unsolved questions to predict their risks on human health.
