Solovev approach of finding equilibrium solutions,which was extended to include the vacuum solutions provided by Zheng,Wooton,and Solano,was found extremely useful for the purpose of shaping *** extension to toroidal equilibria with a general plasma flow was examined theoretically in a companion paper by Chu,Hu and *** only meaningful extension was found for plasmas with a pure toroidal rotation and with a constant Mach number.A set of functions{SOLOVEV_ZWSm}was obtained which fixed location of the magnetic axis for equilibria with quasi-constant current density profile,with toroidal flow at constant Mach number and with specific heat capacity *** set{Solovev_ZWSm}should have complete shaping capability for plasma shapes with positive curvature at the boundary;but not for plasmas with negative curvature boundary points,*** doublets or bean shaped *** report here extensive numerical studies showing the shaping capability of{Solovev_ZWSm}for plasmas with pure toroidal rotations,including the change in topology of the solution when the rotation mach number *** plasma topology are the sphere(spheromaks);and the tokamaks(including the doublets).

The effect of an edge transport barrier on the toroidal field required for the ignition of an elongated tokamak is studied by modifying an analytic model which was calibrated against a transport code. It is found that the presence of the edge transport barrier will lead to a higher marginal toroidal field needed for ignition. This seemingly counter intuitive result is explained as being due to the equivalent effect of profile broadening by the edge transport barrier. This effect is further traced to its physical origin: in the case close to ignition, the fusion power input is predominantly concentrated in the center of plasma. It is demonstrated that if the fusion power input could be shifted from the center to the edge by a sufficient amount, then the presence of an edge transport barrier would lead to a reduction of the required toroidal field for ignition.

Enumeration of perfect matchings on graphs has a longstanding interest in combinatorial mathematics. In this paper, we obtain some explicit expressions of the number of perfect matchings for a type of Archimedean lattices with toroidal boundary by applying Tesler's crossing orientations to obtain some Pfaffan orientations and enumerating their Pfaffans.

We demonstrated a novel metamaterial with dual-band electromagnetically induced transparency(EIT)via simulation,experiment and numerical analysis,with resonance frequencies of the trans-parency peaks of 7.60 and 10.27 *** E-εmetamaterial unit cells were composed of E-shaped and e-shaped *** analyzing the surface current distribution and the magnetic field,we qualitatively verified the toroidal dipole response in the E-εmetamaterial at 10.27 ***,by calculating the multipole's radiated power,we found that the two transparency peaks were due to the excitation of the electric and toroidal dipole *** changing the incident angle from 0°to 60°,we observed changes in transmission spectra,and the quality factors(Q-factors)of the two transparency peaks *** addition,the proposed E-εmetamaterial can be designed to act as a refractive index sensor or other electronic equipment for the control of electromagnetic waves.

The nonlinear differential equations governing the postbuckling equilibrium state of toroidal shells in the large-deflection range and the asymptotic solutions of the equations are derived in this paper. The theory of postbuckling behaviour of toroidal shells is investigated systematically for the first time. The results of theoretical calculation are in reasonable agreement with experimental results obtained by Fishlowitz.

The complex frequencies of the low-degree toroidal modes are helpful in constraining the mantle *** the early years,the traditional method to detect the low-degree toroidal modes is seismic approach,which is primarily limited by the horizontal noise of ***,it has been proved that gravity method is ***,we re-estimated or newly estimated the complex frequencies of the toroidal modes below 1.5 mHz excited by the 2004 Sumatra-Andaman event using gravity method in this *** results show that(1)The quality factors of0 T5-0 T9 and1 T2-1 T3 are estimated from superconducting gravity data for the first time;(2)The estimated frequencies and quality factors for0 T2-0 T9 and1 T2-1 T3 are consistent with those provided by previous publications,which verifies the correctness and effectiveness of our estimations;(3)The maximum difference of frequencies between our results and those from CPREM is on the order of 0.01 mHz and the maximum difference of quality factors is at the level of 10.

A detailed study of the formation of toroidal condensation produced from the 2700 base pair fragments of plasmid PUCI3 DNA, induced by metal ions, is introduced. We have extracted several typical intermediate structures based on investigation by electron microscopy, and compared their size distributions. The observations suggest that the formation process of DNA condensation is the process of folding and arranging DNA chains and that of disorderorder transition. The result also indicates that the condensed particles are polymeric, but not randomly aggregative, further proving thetoroidal structures are formed in certain regularities.

Different power electronic converter topologies are introduced in this paper for both Conventional Switched Reluctance Machine (CSRM) and toroidal Switched Reluctance Machine (TSRM) drive systems. Their commutation, switch and diode currents, power losses, and efficiencies under over modulation operation are analyzed and compared for converter characteristics study, performance evaluation and topology selection for CSRM and TSRM drive systems. The switch and diode silicon volumes required for each CSRM and TSRM drives are also compared according to their corresponding currents at the equivalent machine torque versus speed operating points.

As environmental protection agencies enact new regulations for automotive fuel economy and emission, the toroidal continuously variable transmissions (CVTs) keep on contribute to the advent of system technologies for better fuel consumption of automobiles with internal combustion engines (ICE). toroidal CVTs use infinitely adjustable drive ratios instead of stepped gears to achieve optimal performance. toroidal CVTs are one of the earliest patents to the automotive world but their torque capacities and reliability have limitations in the past. New developments and implementations in the control strategies, and several key technologies have led to development of more robust toroidal CVTs, which enables more extensive automotive application of toroidal CTVs. This paper concerns with the current development, upcoming and progress set in the context of the past development and the traditional problems associated with toroidal CVTs.
