phase equilibria in Mg-rich corner of Mg-Ca-RE(RE=Gd,Nd) systems at 400℃

The phase equilibria in Mg-rich corner of Mg-Ca-Gd and Mg-Ca-Nd ternary systems at 400℃ were determined through the equilibrated alloy method by using XRD, SEM, EPMA and DSC. Partial isothermal sections in Mg-rich corner of Mg-Ca-Gd and Mg-Ca-Nd ternary systems at 400 ℃ were constructed from 13 alloys. A three-phase region of a-Mg, Mg41RE5 and Mg2Ca was determined in both ternary systems. It is formed by a similar ternary eutectic reaction L→a-Mg＋Mg2Ca＋Mg41RE5 at 499.6 ℃ and 505.6 ℃, respectively. It is found that the maximum solubility of Ca in Mg5Gd is 3.68% （molar fraction） and 3% of Gd can be dissolved in Mg2Ca in the Mg-Ca-Gd system at 400 ℃. While in the Mg-Ca-Nd system, the maximum solubility of Ca in Mg41Nd5 is 3.57% and 1.24% of Nd can be dissolved in Mg2Ca at 400 ℃. Other three-phase equilibria existing in Mg-rich corner of Mg-Ca-Gd system are a-Mg＋MgsGd＋T and MgsGd＋Mg2Ca＋T and the three-phase equilibrium in Mg-rich corner of Mg-Ca-Nd system is Mg3Nd＋Mg2Ca＋ Mg41Nd5.

Stable bulk nanobubbles can be regarded as gaseous analogues of microemulsions

In our previous work[2022 ***.249685],we used molecular dynamics simulations to show that bulk nanobubbles can be stabilized by forming a compressed amphiphile monolayer at bubble *** observation closely matches the origin of stability of microemulsions and inspired us to propose here that,in certain cases,stable bulk nanobubbles can be regarded as gaseous analogues of microemulsions:the nanobubble phase and the bubble-containing solution phase coexist with the external gas *** three-phase coexistence is then validated by molecular dynamics *** stability mechanism for bulk nanobubbles is thus given:the formation of a compressed amphiphilic monolayer because of microbubble shrinking leads to a vanishing surface tension,and consequently the curvature energy of the monolayer dominates the thermodynamic stability of bulk *** the monolayer model,we further interpret several strange behaviors of bulk nanobubbles:gas supersaturation is not a prerequisite for nanobubble stability because of the vanishing surface tension,and the typical nanobubble size of 100 nm can be explained through the small bending constant of the ***,through analyzing the compressed amphiphile monolayer model we propose that bulk nanobubbles can exist ubiquitously in aqueous solutions.

Adsorptive distillation ——Novel hybrid separation process

If adsorption is accompanied with distillation in a column, the whole process may produce favorable effect on separation. For example, when certain amount of zeolite is added to an ethanol-water mixture, the azeotrope is no longer the barrier of separation. The patent continuous adsorptive distillation process, developed by the authors, is described. This process seems attractive in the separation of a mixture having azeotrope or close-boiling pair and the removal of trace impurity in some fine chemicals by adsorption, as well as leading to the development of selective *** work was undertaken for the separation of ethanol-water mixture near azeotropic composition and for the separation of ethyl acetate-water-n-butanol mixture, using zeolite as adsorbent. The operations were continuous and almost pure ethanol, ethyl acetate and n-butanol were produced.
