The design and synthesis of fused thiophenes and their applications in organic field-effect transistors

Fused thiophenes refer to oligothienoacenes in which several thiophenes are coupled together via twoor multi-positions and their derivatives. The synthesized organic semiconductors based on fused thiophenes exhibit excellent field effect properties due to their efficient intermolecular S…S interactions and π…π stacking. The performances of organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) depend not only on the materials but also on the devices. Such factors which influence the device performances as device structures, fabrication technologies and interface engineering are extensively investigated based on the fused thiophenes. Searching for new organic semiconductors and improving the device fabrication technologies are two major issues in the development of OFETs.

Chromatographic Analysis of thiophenes in Calli and Suspension Cultures of Tagets spp.

The thiophene isomer fractions were investigated by TLC (thin layer chromatography) and GLC (gas liquid chromatography). The TLC analysis revealed that, 5-(4-acetoxy-1-butynyl)-2,2-bithenyl (BBTOAC, Rf 0.78 I); 5-(3-buten-1-ynyl)-2,2-bithineyl (BBT, Rf 0.39 II) and 2,2,5,2-?-terthienyl (?-T, Rf 0.32 III) were detected in extracts of leaf, stem and root calli or suspension cultures of Tagetes erecta and T. patula as well as leaf cell culture of T. patula which treated with DL-tryptophan under light or dark conditions. The GLC quantitative analysis of thiophenes in subjected revealed that the percentage distribution of the major thiophenes in all the analysed samples were determined as follows: BBT II > ? -T III > BBTOAc I. Another thiophene was determined in relatively small amounts and found to be 5-(3-penten-1-ynyl)-2,2-bithienyl (PBT IV). Other thiophenes were quantitated in trace amounts with unidentified or unknown chemical structure from the investigated extracts.

The Sichuan Basin in China is a sour petroleum *** order to assess the origin of HS and other sulphur compounds as well as the cause of petroleum alteration,data on HS,thiophene and thiol concentrations and gas stable isotopes(δS andδC) have been collected for predominantly gas phase petroleum samples from Jurassic,Triassic,Permian and Upper Proterozoic(Sinian) *** highest HS concentrations(up to 32%) are found in Lower Triassic,anhydrite-rich carbonate reservoirs in the Wolonghe Field where the temperature has reached>130℃.δS values of the HS in the Wolonghe Triassic reservoirs range from +22 to +31‰and are close to those of Triassic evaporitic sulphate from South *** the evidence suggests that the HS was generated by thermochemical sulphate reduction(TSR) locally within Triassic *** the Triassic Wolonghe Field,both methane and ethane seem to be involved in thermochemical sulphate reduction since theirδC values become less negative as TSR *** concentrations correlate positively with HS in the Triassic Wolonghe gas field,suggesting that thiol production is associated with *** contrast,elevated thiophene concentrations are only found in Jurassic reservoirs in association with liquid phase petroleum generated from sulphur-poor source *** may suggest that thiophene compounds have not come from a source rock or cracked *** they may have been generated by reaction between localized concentrations of HS and liquid range petroleum compounds in the ***,in the basin,thiophene concentrations decrease with increasing vitrinite reflectance suggesting that source maturity(rather than source type) may also be a major control on thiophene concentration.
