Objectives:theca cells play an important role in maintaining follicles development,particularly,in controlling ovarian steroidogenesis by supplying androgens to granulosa cell for conversion into *** it has been known that steroid hormone production from theca cells is mainly under the control of LH,the intracellular signaling mechanisms that modulate theca cells secrete steroid hormones is *** aim is to have looked at the mechanism of luteinizing hormone(LH) on goat theca cells androgen production,and which is an important step towards better understanding the role of LH in follicle function and development *** and methods:Goat ovaries were collected from 1 to 2 years old goats at a local *** those ovaries without corpus luteum were chosen for the *** cells collected from small antral follicles were treated with LH(1 IU/ml) for various durations(0,4h,6h,8h,12 h,24h,48h).The levels of total-Akt and phospho-Akt were examined using Western *** Findings:Goat theca cells from small antral follicles were incubated with LH for various durations,and phospho-Akt and total-Akt content were examined using Western blotting indicated that the amount of phospho-Akt reached its highest level at 12 h after treatment with ***,theca cells were incubated with LH combined with PI3 K inhibitors for various durations,results show that PI3 K inhibitors inhibited LH-induced Akt phosphorylation in the goat theca ***-PCR analyses showed that LH significantly increased CYP11A1 and CYP17A1 mRNA levels in the goat theca cells(PO.05).Addition of LY294002,significantly decreased LH-induced CYP11A1 and CYP17A1 mRNA expression(Ptheca cells(P<0.05).Addition of LY294002,but not wortmannin,significantly decreased the expression of LH-induced LHR mRNA(P<0.05
