There are three non-allelic isogenes encoding phosphoribosylanthranilate isomerase (PAI) in Arabidopsis thaliana. The expression plasmids were constructed by fusion of the GUS reporter gene to the three PAI promoters with or without the 5’ region encoding PAI N-terminal polypeptides and transferred into Arabidopsis plants by Agrobacterium tumefaciens. Analysis of GUS activity revealed that the PAI 5’ coding region was necessary for high expression of GUS activity. GUS activity in transgenic plants transformed with the expression plasmids containing the 5’ coding region of PAI1 or PAI3 was 60—100-fold higher than that without the corresponding 5’ region. However, the effect of 5’ coding region of PAI2 gene on the GUS activity was very small (only about 1 time difference). The GUS histochemical staining showed a similar result as revealed by GUS activity assay. It was expressed in the mesophyll cells and guard cells, but not in the epidermic cells, indicating that the N-terminal polypeptides encoded by

We discovered 528 putative cytochrome P450s (P450s) in Oryza sativa L. ssp. indica using Arabidopsis thaliana.P450s as database. Those putative rice P450s are thought to belong to 40 families classified in Arabidopsis thaliana. We compared distributions of Arabidopsis thaliana.and Oryza sativa P450s and found the two species have similar distribution patterns. However, family distributions of two species also have some differences. For example, in rice, the gene number in families of CYP71, CYP72, CYP76, CYP89, CYP94 and CYP709 is more than twice that in Arabidopsis thaliana. and there are 33 CYP705 members in Arabidopsis thaliana.but none in rice. We also found gene members in CYP71 and CYP81 are organized as tandem arrays repeated in the rice genome; maybe they are duplications in the evolutionary event. Furthermore, we accumulated expression sequence tag (EST) evidence for 263 putative rice P450s, which are expressed at transcriptional level and more likely to be true P450s.

LEA protein,late-embryogenesis-abundant protein,is importantin response to thesalt and drought stresses in ***,weidentified a cDNA full length of LEA from soybean and found that LEA enhance the ability of anti-salinity in transgenic Arabidopsis *** expression of GmPM30 increases highly under salinity,cold or ABA treatment,and enhances by certain degree under drought *** germination rates,primary root lengths and survival rate of GmPM30 over-expression lines are obviously higher than that of the wild-type after suffering the salinity *** studies displays that GmPM30-ox apparently enhances the tolerance to salinity in Arabidopsis thaliana.
