The isothermal section of the phase diagram of the ternary system Co Dy Pr at 500℃ was investigated by X ray diffraction analysis, optical microscopy, electron microscopy, electron spectrum and electron probe miscroanalysis techniques. The section consists of seventeen single phase regions, twenty eight two phase regions and twelve three phase regions. Three of single phase regions are the solid continuums and three of single phase regions are the wide limit solid solutions. No ternary compound was observed in this system.

The isothermal section of the phase diagram of the Gd-Sm-Co ternary system at 773 K was investigated by X-ray powder diffraction （XRD）, differential thermal analysis （DTA）, optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy （SEM） techniques. The result shows that the isothermal section consists of 12 single-phase regions, 16 two-phase regions and 5 three-phase regions. Five pairs of corresponding compounds of Gd-Co and Sin-Co systems, i.e., Gd2Co17 and Sm2Co^7, Gd2Co7 and Sm2Co7, GdCo3 and SmC03, GdCo： and SmCo：, Gd3Co and Sm3Co form continuous series of solid solutions. The maximum solid solubility of Sm in Gd4Co3 arid Gdl2Co7 were about 7.2 at.% and 47.8 at.% Sm, respectively. The maximum solid solubility of Gd in Sm5Col9 and SmsCo2 were about 4.7 at.% and 7.6 at.% Gd, respectively. The binary compounds Sm9Co4, GdCos and SmCo5 were not observed at 773 K. No ternary compound was found.

Porous polyvinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluropropylene(PVDF-HFP)hollow fiber membranes were fabricated through a wet spinning process.In order to improve the membrane structure,composition of the polymer solution was adjusted by studying ternary phase diagrams of polymer/solvent/non-solvent.The prepared membranes were used for sweeping gas membrane distillation(SGMD)of 20 wt% ethylene glycol(EG)aqueous solution.The membranes were characterized by different tests such as N2 permeation,overall porosity,critical water entry pressure(CEPw),water contact angle and collapsing pressure.From FESEM examination,addition of 3 wt% glycerol in the PVDF-HFP solution,produced membranes with smaller finger-likes cavities,higher surface porosity and smaller pore sizes.Increasing the polymer concentration up to 21 wt% resulted in a dense spongy structure which could significantly reduce the N2 permeance.The membrane prepared by 3 wt% glycerol and 17 wt% polymer demonstrated an improved structure with mean pore size of 18 nm and a high surface porosity of 872 m^−1.CEPw of 350 kPa and overall porosity of 84% were also obtained for the improved membrane.Collapsing pressure of the membranes relatively improved by increasing the polymer concentration.From the SGMDtest,the developed membrane represented a maximumpermeate flux of 28 kg·m^−2·h^−1 which is almost 19% higher than the flux of plain membrane.During 120 h of a long-termSGMD operation,a gradual flux reduction of 30% was noticed.In addition,EG rejection reduced from 100% to around 99.5% during 120 h of the operation.

drawing the ternary phase diagram of the system of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate（[Bmim]BF4）,sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate（SDBS） and water using ocular estimate and turbidity method at 298.15 K.A series of samples with different compositions around the phase diagram were chosen.The enthalpy change of these systems after injecting triply distilled water into these samples has been studied using isothermal titration microcalorimetry（ITC）.It is found that with increasing the water content there are weak endothermic and exothermic processes appearing,separately,which matches perfectly with the location of the formationand disappearance of the aqueous two-phase in the ternary phase diagram.This suggests the ITC is a feasible and effective method for the thermodynamic study of aqueous two-phase systems.The experimental results show thatthe formation of the aqueous two-phase system is endothermic（ΔH＞ 0）,but the process of disappearing is exothermic（ΔH＜ 0）.Due to the formation of aqueous two-phaseis a thermodynamic spontaneous process under the isothermal constant pressure,we can judge that the formation of this aqueous two-phase system is an entropy driven course and the vanishing is a synergy driven process by entropy and enthalpy.
