Numerical simulation of melt flow and temperature field during DC casting 2024 aluminium alloy under different casting conditions

Casting speed,casting temperature and secondary cooling water flow rate are the main process parameters affecting the DC casting *** parameters significantly influence the flow and temperature fields during casting,which are crucial for the quality of the ingot and can determine the success or failure of the casting *** simulation,with the advantages of low cost,rapid execution,and visualized results,is an important method to study and optimize the DC casting *** the present work,a simulation model of DC casting 2024 aluminum alloy was established,and the reliability of the model was ***,the influence of casting parameters on flow field and temperature field was studied in detail by numerical simulation *** show that with the increase of casting speed,the melt flow becomes faster,the depths of slurry zone and mushy zone increase,and the variation of slurry zone depth is greater than that of mushy *** an increase in casting temperature,the melt flow rate increases,the depth of the slurry zone becomes shallower,and the depth of the mushy zone experiences only minor *** simulation results further indicate that the increase of the flow rate of the secondary cooling water slightly reduces the depths of both slurry and mushy zone.

The temperature field in laser line scanning thermography is investigated comprehensively in this work,including analytical calculation and ***,the principle of laser line scanning thermography is *** this basis,a physical laser line scanning model is ***,based on Fourier transform(FT)and segregation variablemethod(SVM),the heat conduction differential equation in laser line scanning thermography is derived in *** temperature field of the composite-based coatings model with defects is simulated *** results show that the laser line scanning thermography can effectively detect the defects in the *** correctness of the analytical calculation is verified by comparing the surface temperature distribution obtained by analytical calculation and numerical ***,an experiment is carried out and the changeable surface temperature obtained by analytical calculation is compared with the experimental *** shows that the error of maximum temperature obtained by analytical calculation and by experiment is 8%with high accuracy,which proves the correctness of analytical calculation and enriches the theoretical foundation of laser line scanning thermography.

The impact of the piston wind caused by vehicle traffic on the temperature field distribution of the tunnel cannot be ignored,especially in spiral tunnels,where the temperature field distribution is more complicated than that in straight *** on the world’s longest highway spiral tunnel,this study explores the influence of traffic on the temperature fields of spiral and straight tunnels,and proposes a new design method for laying length of insulation *** results show that traffic has a significant effect on the temperature field dis-tribution in the *** influence degree of different traffic elements decreases in the following order:average vehicle speed>daily traffic>morning rush hour>evening rush *** temperature field distribution of spiral tunnels is asymmetry on the left and right compared with straight tunnels,while the influence degree of traffic on the outside of spiral tunnels is similar to that of straight *** to the difference of wind direction and traffic direction at different tunnel openings,an asymmetric insulation layer laying method is *** is suggested that the lengths of the insulation layers of the Jinjiazhuang Tunnel should be 1200 m for the right tunnel inlet,700 m for the right tunnel outlet,700 m for the left tunnel inlet,and 1400 m for the left tunnel outlet.

Before 2008,the number of surface observation stations in China was ***,the surface observation data were too sparse to effectively support the High-resolution China Meteorological Administration’s Land Assimilation System(HRCLDAS)which ultimately inhibited the output of high-resolution and high-quality gridded *** paper proposes a statistical downscaling model based on a deep learning algorithm in super-resolution to research the above ***,we take temperature as an *** model is used to downscale the 0.0625°×0.0625°,2-m temperature data from the China Meteorological Administration’s Land Data Assimilation System(CLDAS)to 0.01°×0.01°,named *** performed quality control on the paired data from CLDAS and HRCLDAS,using data from 2018 and *** was trained on the data from 31 March 2018 to 28 February 2019,and then tested with the remaining ***,extensive experiments were conducted in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region which features complex and diverse *** the HRCLDAS product and surface observation data as the"true values"and comparing them with the results of bilinear interpolation,especially in complex terrain such as mountains,the root mean square error(RMSE)of the CLDASSD output can be reduced by approximately 0.1℃,and its structural similarity(SSIM)was approximately 0.2 *** can estimate detailed textures,in terms of spatial distribution,with greater accuracy than bilinear interpolation and other sub-models and can perform the expected downscaling tasks.

A coupled thermo-mechanical model containing metal flow and temperature field for calculating temperature variation has been developed on fourteen-pass hot continuous rolling of round rod for Inconel 718 alloy using 3D elastic-plastic finite element method （FEM）. The temperature of characteristic analysis points in the intermediate cross-section of the workpiece has been simulated at initial temperature ranging from 960 to 1000 ℃ and initial velocity in range of 0.15-0.55 m·s^-1. Based on finite element analysis and microstructural observation in cylindrical hot compression experiments, the appropriate hot continuous rolling technologies have been designed for rod products with different diameters. For a real rolling practice, the simulated surface temperature was examined and is in good agreement with the measured one.

Based on the Kangding Tunnel No.2 project,this study analyzes the heat exchange between air and the rock mass surrounding the tunnel under wind flow by the finite difference *** influence of factors on the temperature field of a tunnel in cold regions,including ventilation and initial conditions,is *** results show that:1)The lower the air temperature,the greater the wind speed,the larger the rock mass temperature influence circle and the greater the frozen depth;2)When the wind speed is less than 3 m/s,its change has an obvious impact on the rock mass temperature;3)For every drop of 5C in air temperature,the frozen depth increases by about 5 m,indicating that the air temperature is an essential factor affecting the rock mass temperature regime;4)The higher the initial rock mass temperature is,the smaller the influence circle on the rock mass *** to a certain extent,it determines the temperature distribution in the rock mass within a specific range from the wall surface.

This work has performed a numerical simulation of the temperature field during microwave heating of polyolefin-absorber mixture by means of a combined electric and thermal model.A finite difference time domain was used to model the electric field distribution within the cavity,while the finite difference method was used to calculate the temperature field distribution in different *** study has focused only on the process from room temperature to 500 K for reducing heating time and energy *** temperature range is a process with high energy consumption,difficult to control and great influence on the follow-up *** dependence of dielectric properties and thermal properties of heated materials are fully considered and simulated through an iterative *** simulation results show that input power,the size and location of the heated materials,the position of the waveguide,and the kinds of microwave absorbers are important factors affecting the heating *** a result,the uniform temperature distribution(the temperature difference Tdb10 K)can be achieved by choosing the appropriate input power(500–2000 W),the appropriate proportion of microwave absorber(the volume ratio of Si C to HDPE is 30:70),and combining with the moving and rotating of the heated *** uniform temperature field obtained without mechanical stirring is very important for reducing energy consumption and subsequent reactions.
