In the present paper, in accordance with the exoskeleton structure, the method of Q-mode cluster analysis is used for a taxonomic study of 17 orders (suborders) of the Tritobita that was established or adopted by H. J. Harrington (1959), J. Bergstrm (1973), and R. A. Fortey and R. M. Owens (1975). The author suggests that the Trilobita be subdivided into 9 orders and 14 suborders, i. e. order Agnostida Kobayashi, 1935 (suborder Agnostina Salter, 1864 and suborder Eodiscina Kobayashi, 1939), order Redlichiida Richter, 1933 (suborder Redlichiina Richter, 1933, suborder Bathynotina Lochman-Balk, 1959 and suborder Olenellina Resser, 1938), order Corynexochida Kobayashi, 1935, order Ptychopariida Swinnerton, 1915 (suborder Ptychopariina Richter, 1933, suborder Proetina Fortey & Owens, 1975, nom. transl, ex Proetida Fortey & Owens, 1975 and suborder Calymenina Swinnerton, 1915, emended herein), order Illaenida Jaanusson, 1959 (suborder Illaenina Jaanuson, 1959 and suborder Asaphina Salter, 1864, emended herei

This work summarizes the history and progress of the studies on Chinese amphibians since they first appeared in the Chinese literature.A wide range of research has been carried out,including the history of the definition of amphibians,faunal surveys,systematic research,ecological research,biochemical research(isozyme and other proteins or peptides,chromosomes,DNA),anatomical research,embryological research,phylogenetic and zoogeographical research,and many others such as ultrastructure of organs,crossbreeding test,regeneration of organs,abnormality survey,acoustics,fossils,sperm ultrastructure and *** addition,the prospects for studies on Chinese amphibians in future are proposed in this paper.

The genus Trixa Meigen, 1824 is revised. Dexiotrix Villeneuve, 1936 and Trixella Mesnil, 1980, each of which was sometimes treated as a distinct genus, are treated as junior synonyms of Trixa Meigen. Two species from Sichuan and Yunnan, China, are described as new to science, viz. Trixa chinensis sp. nov. and T. chaoi sp. nov. T. alpina Meigen is treated as a junior synonym of T. caerulescens Meigen. T. nox (Shima) and *** (Mesnil) are newly recorded from China. Males of T. pubiseta (Mesnil) and *** (Villeneuve) are described for the first time. Diagnoses, figures and a key to twelve species in Trixa are given.

Nine species of the leafhopper genus Placidus Distant have been found in the world up to now, of which 4 new species are described from South China in this paper: P. dentatus, sp. nov. from Sichuan Province, P. striolatus, sp. nov. and P. nigrocupuliferous, sp. nov. from Yunnan Province, and P. flosifrontus, sp. nov. from Hunan Province. A key to all the 9 species of this genus is proposed. The type specimens are deposited in the Entomological Museum, Northwest Sci Tech University of Agriculture and Forestry, Yangling, Shaanxi, except the type specimens of P. dentatus and P. striolatus spp. nov. kept in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing (IZAS).

Four New Species of the Ant Genus Ponera Latreille(Hymenoptera:Formicidae)from Yunnan,China

Four new species of the ant genus Ponera Latreille are described from the Gaoligongshan Mountain Nature Reserve of Yunnan Province. Up to date, 12 species of the genus are recorded in China, i.e. *** Wheeler, *** Terayama, *** Terayama, Ponera pentodontos Xu, Ponera menglana Xu, Ponera nangongshana Xu, Ponera longlina Xu, Ponera baka Xu, Ponera xantha, sp. nov., Ponera pianmana, sp. nov., Ponera bawana, sp. nov., Ponera diodonta, sp. nov. A key to 12 species in China based on worker caste with figures is provided. All the type specimens are deposited in the Insect Collection, Southwest Forestry College.

Eight species of the ant genus Ponera Latreille are recorded in China, among them 5 new species are discovered and described from Xishuangbanna Nature Reserve of Yunnan Province: P. sinensis Wheeler distributed in Hong Kong; P. alisana Terayama and P. chiponensis Terayama distributed in Taiwan Province; P. pentodontos , sp. nov., P. menglana , sp. nov., P. nangongshana , sp. nov., P. longlina , sp. nov., and P. baka , sp. nov. distributed in Yunnan Province. A key based on worker caste is provided for the 8 species. The type specimens are deposited in the Insect Collection, Southwest Forestry College, Kunming, Yunnan, China.

Molecular phylogeny of thirteen species in the genus Formica(Hymenoptera: Formicidae) based on COI, COII, and Cyt b genes

Partial eytochrome oxidase subunits I （COI） and II （COII）, and cytochrome b （Cyt b） genes of thirteen species of the ant genus Formica were sequenced for molecular phylogenetic studies. The sequences were as follows： COI fragment, 657 bp; COl ＋ COIl fragments, approximately 900 bp, including the termination codon at the end of COI and the initiator codon at the beginning of COIl; and the Cyt b fragment, 777 bp. Results show that these three mitoehondrial genetic markers are similar in base composition. The contents of A ＋ T were 73.8% （COl） and 79.2% （COII）--higher than those of G ＋ C, which were 20.8% （COIl） and 26.2% （COI）, and strongly AT-biased. The highest A ＋ T contents were 89.9% （COI） and 93.7% （COII） on the third codon, whereas the lowest G content was 0.2% （COII） and 1.2% （Cyt b）. Molecular phylogenetic trees based on these mitoehondrial genes were reconstructed. Cataglyphis aenescens in the subfamily Formicinae was used as the outgroup, and Diacamma rugosum of the subfamily Ponerinae was used as an additional, distantly-related outgroup. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the differences among the species in the in-group were small, with genetic distance values less than 0.1. The greatest genetic distance was between E beijingensis and F. cunicularia. The results are in accord with those based on morphological features.

The present paper deals with the systematic study on the genus Aphytis Howard from South Korea. Five species of Aphytis are recognized, including one new species (Aphytis albus sp. nov.) and four new records (A. diaspidis, A. japonicus, A. proclia and A. vandenboschi). A key to the female species of Aphytis from South Korea is provided. The type specimens are respectively deposited in Korea National Arboretum and the Insect Collection of Northeast Forestry University, Harbin, China.
