BACKGROUND We report a rare case of numbness in the right hand,finally diagnosed as bilateral common carotid artery common trunk with aberrant right subclavian artery combined with right subclavian steal syndrome and explain the cause of these diseases.CASE SUMMARY The patient was a 65-year-old woman.She complained of dizziness,numbness and weakness of the right hand for 6 mo.She was diagnosed with bilateral common carotid artery common trunk with aberrant right subclavian artery combined with right subclavian steal syndrome by ultrasound,enhanced computed tomography,computed tomography angiography and other examinations.Considering the surgical risks,the patient refused the aberrant right subclavian artery stent implantation and was discharged.We hypothesize that these two kinds of deformity and right subclavian steal syndrome may not occur by accident and result from multiple malformations.CONCLUSION Bilateral common carotid artery common trunk with aberrant right subclavian artery combined with right subclavian steal syndrome is rare.This case reminds interventional radiologists of the possibility of these abnormalities before surgery.

Creating vivid characters is one of the main tasks of literary works and analyzing characters is one of the major ways to comprehend these works.Generally speaking,grasping the personality traits of characters can help readers better understand the ideological content and theme.There are two main methods of characterization:direct characterization and indirect characterization,which further involves five different methods(here’s the acronym steal) that combine different elements to reveal a character’s personality.Many readers regard Dee in Everyday Use as a rebel of black culture,holding the view that she is selfish,hypocritical,and sophisticated and behold her from a negative perspective.This paper aims to interpret Dee with the steal characterization method.That is,Dee in Everyday Use is a fully developed character with a multifaceted personality.

A 7-year-old girl with an anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery restored connection of the left coronary artery to the ascending aorta by aortocoronary bypass graft. Aortocoronary bypass grafting was performed with a vascular prosthesis. Postoperative angiography showed a patent left coronary artery without narrowing or kinking. Clinical improvement was rapid and the left ventricular function recovered completely.

Steel catenary risers, (SCR) usually installed between seabed wellhead and floating platform are subjected to vortex shedding. These impose direct forces, hence cyclic stresses, and fatigue damage on the SCR. Riser failure has both economic and environmental consequences;hence the design life is usually greater than the field life, which is significantly reduced by vortex induced vibration (VIV). In this study, SCR and metOcean data from a field in Offshore Nigeria were substituted into linearized hydrodynamic models for simulations. The results showed that the hang off and touchdown regions were most susceptible to fatigue failure. Further analysis using Miner-Palm green models revealed that the fatigue life reduced from a design value of 20-years to 17.04-years, shortened by 2.96-years due to VIV. Furthermore, a maximum wave load of 5.154 kN was observed. The wave loads results corroborated with those obtained from finite element Orca Flex software, yielding a correlation coefficient of 0.975.

Ischemic monomelic neuropathy (IMN) is an under-diagnosed and disabling complication of upper extremity hemodialysis access. The hemodynamic disturbance that occurs during the time of access creation can lead to both neurologic and ischemic complications. These complications are most commonly seen following proximal procedures involving the upper limbs. Diagnosis and treatment are often delayed, and even with early intervention, neurologic dysfunction may be irreversible. IMN can lead to significant long-term disability. Almost all cases of IMN occur with brachial artery-based access, procedures and the vast majority of patients are diabetic and females. I report a case of IMN after left BC AVF operation which was treated successfully by early access ligation, providing a review of the literature.
