A review on the spread of prehistoric agriculture from southern China to mainland Southeast Asia

The origins and spread of agriculture was one of the milestones in human history.When and how prehistoric agriculture spread to mainland Southeast Asia is highly concerned,which contributed to the formation of modern Austroasiatic in this region.Previous studies mainly focused on the time and route of rice agriculture’s introduction into Southeast Asia while millet agriculture was not paid proper attention.Here we analyze 31214C dating data yielded from charred seeds of rice(Oryza sativa),foxtail millet(Setaria italica)and broomcorn millet(Panicum miliaceum)from 128 archaeological sites in China and mainland Southeast Asia.The result shows that millet farming was introduced to mainland Southeast Asia in the late third millennium BC and rice farming was in the late second millennium BC.The agriculture of mainland Southeast Asia might originate from three areas,Southwest China,Guangxi-West Guangdong and coastal Fujian.The spread route of ancient agriculture in Southwest China is close to the“Southwest Silk Road”recorded in literature,which implies there was possibly a channel of cultural exchanges on the eastern margin of Tibetan Plateau already in the late Neolithic period,laying the foundation for the Southwest Silk Road later.

采用一维线阵天线的混合天地波雷达(hybrid sky-surface-wave radar,HSSWR)系统不能利用仰角信息抑制多径扩展多普勒杂波(spread Doppler clutter,SDC),这制约了HSSWR系统在船舶目标探测方面的实际应用。针对这一问题,根据SDC与稳定海杂波在分数阶傅里叶变换(fractional Fourier transform,FRFT)域的不同聚集特性,提出一种基于FRFT的多径SDC抑制方法。理论分析和仿真实验验证了该方法的有效性。

A kind of combinatorial material methodology,also known as continuous compositional spread method,was employed to investigate the relationship between the optical band gap and composition of SiC thin films.A wide range of SixCy thin films with different carbon contents have been successfully deposited in a single deposition by carefully arranging the sample position on the substrate holder.The films were characterized by surface profiler,x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy,fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy.The carbon content y increases linearly from 0.28 to 0.72 while the sample position changed from 85 to 175 mm,the optical band gap changed between 1.27 and 1.99 eV,the maximum value corresponded to the stoichiometric SiC sample at the position of 130 mm,which has the highest Si?C bond density of 11.7×10^22 cm^-3.The C poor and C rich SixCy samples with y value less and larger than 0.5 were obtained while samples deviated from the position 130 mm,the optical band gap decreased with the Si?C bond density.

Virus spread is closely related to pathogenesis.Traditional research methods of virus spread do not distinguish cell-to-cell spread from cell-free spread.The uncertainty of virus induced plaque and virus spread direction makes it difficult to track the spread of virus in situ.Herein,the cellular network was fabricated on the basis of PEG modification and soft lithography.Therein,cell numbers and spatial distributions we re p recisely controlled,e.g.,cellular netwo rks like "WHU" can be achieved.Furthermore,a micro-injector was combined with the cellular network for virus spread on the fixed point,in which virus spread direction was limited in one dimension.The results suggested that controllable and flexible cellular network can be constructed on the PEG pattern.The synergia of micro-injector and cellular network provides an advanced tool to investigate virus cell-to-cell spread at the initial infection stage.

Neuroendocrine tumors of the gastrointestinal tract are rare neoplasms. Rectal neuroendocrine tumors consist approximately the 5%-14% of all neuroendocrine neoplasms in Europe. These tumors are diagnosed in relatively young patients,with a mean age at diagnosis of 56 years. Distant metastases from rectal neuroendocrine tumors are not very common. Herein we describe a case of a rectal neuroendocrine tumor which metastasized to the lung,mediastinum and orbit. This case underscores the importance of early identification and optimal management to improve patient's prognosis. Therefore,the clinical significance of this case is the necessity of physicians' awareness and education regarding neuroendocrine tumors' diagnosis and management.

The emergence of Zika and Ebola demonstrates the importance of understanding the role of sexual transmission in the spread of diseases with a primarily non-sexual transmission route.In this paper,we develop low-dimensional models for how an SIR disease will spread if it transmits through a sexual contact network and some other transmission mechanism,such as direct contact or vectors.We show that the models derived accurately predict the dynamics of simulations in the large population limit,and investigateℛ0 and final size relations.

Pumpkin is native to the Americas.According to local gazetteers,it was introduced to China’s southeastern coastal areas and southwestern frontiers in the early sixteenth century,and rapidly spread nationwide as a crop serving as both vegetable and staple.By the end of the Ming dynasty it had spread to most provinces of China,reaching nationwide distribution during the Qing.During the Republic of China in the first half of the twentieth century,high-caliber breeds became more widely known,with cultivation particularly flourishing in Sichuan Province and across North China.It had significant impact on the rural economy,resulting in changes in the planting system,the relief of famine,and the enrichment of the practice of traditional Chinese medicine.

The choice of fulcrums for control of socio-economic systems represented by direc ted weighted signed graphs is a topic of current interest.This article proposes a new method for identifying nodes of impact and influential nodes,which will provide a guaranteed positive system response over the growth model.The task is posed as an optimization problem to maximize the ratio of the norms of the accumulated increments of the growth vector and the exogenous impact vector.The algorithm is reduced to solving a quadratic programming problem with nonlinear restrictions.The selection of the most effective vertices is based on the cumulative gains of the component projections onto the solution vector.Numerical examples arc provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
