Computer Simulation of Gd(III) speciation in Human Interstitial Fluid

The speciation and distribution of Gd(III) in human interstitial fluid was studied by computer simulation. Meantime artificial neural network was applied to the estimation of log ?values of complexes. The results show that the precipitate species, GdPO4 and Gd2(CO3)3, are the predominant species. Among soluble species, the free Gd(III), [Gd(HSA)] , [Gd(Ox)] and then the ternary complexes of Gd(III) with citrate are main species and [Gd3(OH)4] becomes the predominant species at the Gd(III) total concentration of 2.2?0-2mol/L.

Effect of Tb 3+ on Ca 2+ speciation in human plasma was studied by means of the computer program of MINTEQA2. When Tb 3+ ions are not added into the system, Ca 2+ ions mostly distribute in free Ca 2+ (74.7%) and the surplus distributes in Ca 2+ complexes, such as [CaHCO 3] +(7.9%), [Ca(Lac)] +(6.4%), CaHPO 4 (1 3%), [CaHistidinateThreoninateH 3] 3+ (2.4%), [CaCitrateHistidinateH 2] (2.3%) and CaCO 3(1.1%). Tb 3+ can compete with Ca 2+ for inorganic as well as biological ligands. An increase of concentration of Tb 3+ in the system results in an increase of content of free Ca 2+ and a decrease of contents of Ca 2+ complexes.

A multi-phase model of Pr(III) speciation in human interstitial fluid was constructed and insoluble Pr(III) speciation was studied. When the total concentration of Pr(III) is below 8.401E-10 mol/L, soluble Pr(III) species are main species. With rising the total concentration of Pr(III), Pr(III) is firstly bound to phosphate to form precipitate of PrPO4, then bound to carbonate and another precipitate of Pr2(CO3)3 was obtained. When the total concentration is between 1.583E-9 mol/L and 4.000E-3 mol/L, the insoluble species are predominant Pr(III) species.

Proteomic analysis was carried out on the Crab(upper-shore)and Wave(lower-shore)ecotypes of Littorina saxatilis from a hybrid zone at Silleiro Cape,Spain.Proteome profiles of individual snails were obtained.Protein expression in F_(1)hybrid snails bred in the laboratory and snails with intermediate shell phenotypes collected from the mid-shore were compared with Crab and Wave ecotypes using analytical approaches used to study dominance.Multivariate analysis over many protein spots showed that the F_(1)snails are distinct from both ecotypes but closer to the Wave ecotype.The intermediate snails are highly variable,some closer to the Crab and others to the Wave ecotype.Considered on a protein by protein basis,some proteins are significantly closer in expression to the Crab and others to the Wave ecotype for both F_(1)and intermediate snails.Furthermore,a significant majority of proteins were closer in expression to the Wave ecotype for the F_(1),consistent with the multivariate analysis.No such significant majority toward either the Crab or Wave ecotype was observed for the intermediate snails.The closer similarity of F_(1)and Wave ecotype expression patterns could be the result of similar selective pressures in the similar mid-shore and low-shore environments.For a significantly larger number of proteins,intermediate snails were closer in expression to the ecotype having the lower expression,for both Crab and Wave ecotypes.This is somewhat unexpected as lower expression might be expected to be an indication of impairment of function and lower fitness.Proteomic analysis could be important for the identification of candidate proteins useful for gaining improved understanding of adaptation and barriers to gene flow in hybrid zones.

Root exudates are crucial for plants returning organic matter to soils,which is assumed to be a major source of carbon for the soil microbial community.This study investigated the influence of root exudates on the fate of arsenic(As)with a lab simulation experiment.Our findings suggested that root exudates had a dose effect on the soil physicochemical properties,As speciation transformation and the microbial community structure at different concentrations.The addition of root exudates increased the soil pH while decreased the soil redox potential(Eh).These changes in the soil pH and Eh increased As and ferrous(Fe(Ⅱ))concentrations in soil porewater.Results showed that 40 mg/L exudates addition significantly increased arsenite(As(Ⅲ))and arsenate(As(Ⅴ))by 541 and 10 times respectively within 30 days in soil porewater.The relative abundance of Fe(Ⅲ)-reducing bacteria Geobacter and Anaeromyxobacter increased with the addition of root exudates,which enhanced microbial Fe reduction.Together these results suggest that investigating how root exudates affect the mobility and transformation of As in paddy soils is helpful to systematically understand the biogeochemical cycle of As in soil-rice system,which is of great significance for reducing the health risk of soil As contamination.

Widespread species that inhabit diverse environments possess large population sizes and exhibit a high capacity for environmental adaptation,thus enabling range expansion.In contrast,narrow-range species are confined to restricted geographical areas and are ecologically adapted to narrow environmental conditions,thus limiting their ability to expand into novel environments.However,the genomic mechanisms underlying the differentiation between closely related species with varying distribution ranges remain poorly understood.The Niviventer niviventer species complex(NNSC),consisting of highly abundant wild rats in Southeast Asia and China,offers an excellent opportunity to investigate these questions due to the presence of both widespread and narrow-range species that are phylogenetically closely related.In the present study,we combined ecological niche modeling with phylogenetic analysis,which suggested that sister species cannot be both widespread and dominant within the same geographical region.Moreover,by assessing heterozygosity,linkage disequilibrium decay,and Tajima's D analysis,we found that widespread species exhibited higher genetic diversity than narrow-range species.In addition,by exploring the“genomic islands of speciation”,we identified 13 genes in highly divergent regions that were shared by the two widespread species,distinguishing them from their narrow-range counterparts.Functional annotation analysis indicated that these genes are involved in nervous system development and regulation.The adaptive evolution of these genes likely played an important role in the speciation of these widespread species.
